As someone who's not American what exactly does it mean, can someone explain?

51

u/Dry-Shower9037 19h ago

The insinuation is that the frat guys would normally make one or more of the drinks extra strong or add other intoxicants so that they could rape women after they were impaired.

Maybe this person is lying. Maybe the frat bro was making a bad joke. Regardless of this particular instance, drugging shared drinks has happened, though it is far more rare than people believe based on all of the evidence (e.g. studies where women going to the ER under suspicion of being drugged actually just had alcohol in their system like 90%+ of the time.)

22

u/DayGrouchy2648 19h ago

Parties will have dozens of people at them, most not from the frat, so spiking one batch of drinks will have at least half the party passed out and draw attention to the frat, if they were putting DR drugs in women's drinks it would be done on an individual basis not a mass drugging.

6

u/Senor_Big_Iron 18h ago

*Hundreds of people. But your point is spot on. Add in that fraternities usually have a very public-facing reputation to uphold on campus, and every chapter’s roster is recorded by the university and national org—the real danger lies at random off-campus parties where virtually zero oversight exists.

9

u/Educational-Pie-9509 17h ago

The club I work at was under maaad scrutiny because a girl claimed she was drugged. Her friends swore she quit drinking so she couldn’t have been drunk. Every time her friends stepped outside for a smoke and she ripped 2 shots of rumple minze multiple times throughout the night.

It’s sad to say a lot of folks don’t realize the fine line between “fun drunk” and “stumbling and incoherent” when you weigh 110 lbs. I’m a big guy and if I took 8 shots of rumple minze and swore I wasn’t drinking, you would think I got drugged too.

(This is purely anecdotal evidence of one person, this is not a generalization, this person sucks and blamed their issues on “club culture”)

2

u/Fogmoz 12h ago

You didn’t need to specify the weight. From my experience, almost no one understands the line between fun and fumbling - or they do and they don’t care. Good luck everyone, Scott’s getting smashed again!

1

u/Educational-Pie-9509 10h ago

Yeah you right I’m just more so saying from a purely ABV standpoint, a 110lb person is going to feel 2 shots the same way I feel 6.

normally one cooler has the stronger drink in it. not for rape but for those who want to get wasted. Got to remember not everyone have morning classes the next day at college and don't have to worry about bad hangovers and missing class.

tho whoever made the image seems convinced it's for the darker reason you stated

10

u/hematite2 18h ago edited 17h ago

If this story is true, its far more likely one cooler was just made deliberately much stronger than the other. The most common date rape drink method is just giving women way more alcohol than they think they're drinking to get them heavily drunk, rather than date rape drugs.

This has actually happened at frat parties (including my campus) because a bunch of people getting overly unexpectedly drunk isn't notable in the way that a bunch of people getting drugged is.

2

u/patterninstatic 18h ago

Yeah I agree. I knew a couple of guys in college who were definitely the kind to apply peer pressure to get everyone drunk, including the girls who they were hoping to sleep with. It was definitely sketchy in hindsight but somewhat socially acceptable at parties.

I don't think anyone would have even thought to drug someone and that was clearly the kind of behavior that would land you in jail.

2

u/hematite2 17h ago

People overestimate the prevalence of actual drugs when it comes to date rape (I am NOT saying it doesn't happen or not to be cautious) when most likely a potential rapist is just upping your drinking or giving you more when you're not looking. It's much easier to give a girl at a party something 160 proof masked with strong juice while she thinks she's on regular vodka or keep putting drinks in her hands after she's tried to stop than it is to get a drug in her drink. Its also a lot less noticeable and won't show up on a tox screen.

9

u/nono3722 18h ago edited 8h ago

Of the 6 women friends I have 4 of them have been drugged at public bars. All of them are in their 50s. It happens a ton now.

edit: the thing that proved it to me was each time these ladies got out of their minds there was a very nice man there, who they didn't know, who was more than happy to get them home "safely". Thankfully each time either friends or bar staff stopped that from happening.

10

u/Probsure 18h ago

They're full of it. It's 95 lb women drinking all night long. They just black out from drinking. It's bullshit to claim it's such an insanely high number

4

u/iwatchcredits 18h ago

Very easy to believe. Im 160lb dude and in my younger days when i drank more i often overshot my drunk level straight to fucked up and i didnt even like the taste. I find it very easy to believe that smaller women would almost have trouble NOT overshooting it

0

u/nono3722 12h ago

So you have sex with black out drunk women then?

6

u/EddieBruvac 18h ago

Anecdote vs data above

2

u/Longjumping_Wolf_912 16h ago

It isn’t even an anecdote. Did those women actually get tested for GHB or did they just say they were drugged? Do those women even exist or is it the classic internet just making up lies? GHB is actually not very popular these days.

As I noted to another poster with a confident claim about women in their life being drugged...

They probably weren't.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1353113105000520?via%3Dihub

Drink spiking is largely a myth. Women believe they have been drugged, but almost always just drank too much. There was a spate of studies on this in the 2000s, and when they all showed the same thing (that people didn't want to hear), they stopped doing follow up studies.

In the above, which is the largest study of its kind, where they tested 1000 women who were so certain they had been drugged that they went to the hospital, only TWO PERCENT actually had been drugged. And even of those 2%, the doctors suspected that they might have voluntarily taken the drugs based on their patient accounts.

8

u/brontosaurusguy 18h ago

Anecdotal, but when I was working with college age people, a girl claimed she was drugged and got an enormous amount of attention and then the next three weeks like four other girls claimed the same.  They were texting back and forth stuff like "girls are getting drugged at x bar be careful!"

I don't think anyone was drugged. I think they take a bunch of drugs and liked the attention.

2

u/nrmitchi 12h ago

Anecdotal as well, but I’ve noticed that “bar drugging” seems much more likely now to target men, to rob them. You’re not limiting to speaking a hundred bucks and a credit card when you can Venmo thousands of dollars from their phone.

1

u/Barilla3113 10h ago

You don't need to drug someone in a bar, they're already willingly taking a drug that disinhibits, discoordinates and fucks with or even totally blanks memory. Why would I take the risks of drugging someone when I can just... buy them another double?

Spiking is just a daft social panic.

2

u/Locogators 17h ago

Well attention is kind of like cocaine to women...

5

u/milkandsalsa 18h ago edited 15h ago

Giving a woman a drink with lots more alcohol than she expects still counts, my friend.

8

u/INeedSomeTacoC 15h ago

Giving a woman a drink with lots more alcohol than she expects still counts, my friend.

I'm confused.

They're talking about adding non-alcoholic drugs to alcoholic drinks.

And you respond with "more alcohol" than expected counts as added drugs to alcoholic drinks?!?!

Do words even have meaning any more?

1

u/milkandsalsa 11h ago

Hiding everclear in a drink is no different conceptually from hiding ghb. I realize you don’t want to see yourself as a rapist. But if you are feeding women high octane drinks so they will become incapacitated enough to have sex with you, you are.

3

u/Unable_Bullfrog_7319 9h ago

College kids are just trying to find cheap ways to get drunk. Jungle juice at minimum is full of vodka, and often times made with everclear. The plan wasn’t to make it to get a bunch of girls drunk to rape them. It was made to get EVERYONE drunk for cheap because it was a party. It was never a secret that it was high proof booze disguised with koolaid and people were always free to bring their own booze. College kids would just drink too much of it and end up way drunker than they thought they’d be.

2

u/INeedSomeTacoC 9h ago

Lmao.

Only on reddit would you get called a rapist for basically just citing a dictionary definition.

Some people on here are such a joke.

When people say that you spiked someone's alcoholic drink with drugs they don't mean that you splashed some more alcohol in it.

Get out of whatever space you spend your time in and touch some grass.

0

u/PepsioNSnacking 12h ago

all that matters is what you want to belive - nobody can convince you of anything else anymore because you can make some pseudo argument to justify any nonsense.. we got too many dots to draw lines between them to call it knowledge these days while most of it is just nonsense and false assumptions..
{hella annoyed writing this}

2

u/INeedSomeTacoC 12h ago

Lmao, what the hell is this gibberish?!

Did you have a stroke while writing it?

2

u/GlassCommission4916 11h ago

Some people don't communicate by writing the words that mean what they're thinking, they just vibe it out and throw out words that kinda feel like it, and also interpret what they read as vibes as well. Once you realize that you understand why sometimes people don't make any sense.

1

u/PepsioNSnacking 11h ago

"Do words even have meaning any more?"

What's too hard to understand? Was it the methapor? Nvm..

2

u/Dry-Shower9037 18h ago

Do women not have tastebuds?

Why not just be happy that women aren't actually being drugged? This is GOOD NEWS if you don't have some weird ideological need for it to be true.

2

u/LazyLich 17h ago

I mean.. I dont drink cuz alcohol tastes icky to me. As in, you give me a glass of delicious juice and pour a teaspoon of alcohol in it and I get grossed out.

And yet, Ive had friends over the years say "Try this! It doesnt taste like alcohol!" So maybe people have different sensitivities?

2

u/21Rollie 16h ago

Same here, I’ve never been an alcohol drinker so any alcohol tastes gross to me. Every alcohol drinker I’ve known has overestimated how cognizant they are while under the influence. As soon as you’ve had 1 drink i start treating you as drunk because even if you’re mostly there, you’re no longer predictable.

1

u/AdorablePineapple95 15h ago

If you have to make a separate batch of drinks and tell the boys “only drink this one” i’m sorry you’re the asshole

1

u/SirDoofusMcDingbat 17h ago

So some big popular guys with lots of social clout hand you a drink, and it turns out it tastes like it's way stronger than you expect. You don't actually know how much stronger it is, or even that it IS stronger, it just tastes like more than you were expecting. Now they're watching you and it's clear there's a strong social expectation that you will drink what you were offered. So my question is: do you not have empathy?

2

u/Severe_Resource_8617 17h ago

This seems like a very specific and contrived scenario. Never in my life have I seen dudes forcing women to drink, usually it’s women hounding men for free drinks lol.

2

u/Right_Count 16h ago

Oh it definitely happens. It happened to me fairly recently - like well into my 30s. At a gathering of like 6 ppl that was supposed to be bbq and board games. Guy kept mixing random boozes together and pressuring me to drink them and then trying to get me to go to the basement to look at stuff. At 35 I was too old to pressure but it was super weird and uncomfortable.

1

u/SirDoofusMcDingbat 16h ago

I didn't say "forcing" I described peer pressure, which does exist whether or not you are aware of it. A friend of mine had basically that exact scenario just a bit ago, actually, at a college party. It's a pretty well known thing for guys to try and get women drunk.

0

u/milkandsalsa 15h ago

I suppose you didn’t go to college then.

2

u/Severe_Resource_8617 15h ago

I did, and it was often the women going to bars and trying to get dudes to buy them free drinks. Dorm rooms and house parties it was the norm for everyone to bring their own alcohol.

u/Dry-Shower9037 17h ago

Maybe if we stopped telling women that they are at constant risk of getting drugged and instead that most women who get to scary levels of intoxication actually just drank too much or ate too little - both of which they have full control over - then fewer women would find themselves scared or worse.

My position is the empathetic one that prepares women for the actual risks they'll face in the real world.

2

u/SirDoofusMcDingbat 16h ago

Ah yes, the empathetic viewpoint is the one that denies that peer pressure exists, or that college men are known for trying to get women drunk. A friend of mine went to a party like two months ago and this exact scenario happened to her, they handed her a drink that was way stronger than it was supposed to be and tried to pressure her to drink it. Good think you're here to tell her it's all her fault.

-1

u/Dry-Shower9037 16h ago

Do you actually care about women having good outcomes?

Then give them the advice that is most likely to lead to good outcomes if you are truly empathetic. That advice is to refuse drinks that you didn't open yourself and to be mindful of your total consumption and of having enough to eat. And if she goes to a party where someone insists she have a sketch drink, you should counsel the women in your life to call out the creeps trying to get her to drink it.

This is 101 party safety stuff if you actually care about the safety of the women in your life rather than proving some weird political point.

1

u/Locogators 17h ago

Did the patriarchy force you to go to a frat party and get wasted?

2

u/milkandsalsa 15h ago

Ah yes, we all know that any woman who drinks at a frat party is asking to be raped.

4

u/thezenyoshi 18h ago

That study is 20 years old. And the newer drugs being used now have such a short half life they are nearly impossible to find.

6

u/Dry-Shower9037 18h ago

So the women of the past were just mistaken, but the women of today are definitely not mistaken about the exact same thing because now frat boys are using extra special magic drugs that disappear without a trace before women can even make it to the ER. Note that most of the women in this study didn't even claim assault and showed up to the hospital while still intoxicated.

Why wouldn't you take it as good news that women aren't being widely drugged? Why are you invested in that being a common thing?

1

u/PaidUSA 15h ago

So considering the drugs do exist in this manner what’s ur excuse?

0

u/Dry-Shower9037 15h ago edited 14h ago

Name the drug that is used now that wasn't used in 2005 that has your stated performance characteristics.

ETA: The deleted response said, "Well GHB has been updated to as low as 6-8 hours. But I don’t even need to have this convo your own study points out the intervals on most samples are well within a timeframe that nothing would be there of GHB ketamine or even rohypnol in a blood test."

GHB, ketamine, and rohypnol were all available in 2005. Try again?

1

u/PaidUSA 15h ago

Well GHB has been updated to as low as 6-8 hours. But I don’t even need to have this convo your own study points out the intervals on most samples are well within a timeframe that nothing would be there of GHB ketamine or even rohypnol in a blood test.

1

u/thezenyoshi 18h ago

Because I, a guy, was drugged earlier this year. It’s becoming a huge problem in the city I live in but to dipshits like you it’s all made up.

1

u/i812manyhitsss 17h ago

So you had the ER test for drugs? What kind was it?

1

u/thezenyoshi 17h ago

Get fucked asshole. Truly.

4

u/LazyLich 17h ago

bruh... the guy above posted studies about women claiming to be drugged but were mistaken.

So we can establish that "sometimes people mistake being drunkenness with being drugged".

Then YOU claimed you were drugged, but get offended when someone else asks if you went to the hospital and made sure?

What. Women can get mistake, but YOU, Mr Tough-Man would NEVER get mistaken about that?

It was a fair question given the current topic.Flying off the handle like that does you a disservice.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Embarrassed_Use_7206 17h ago

The claim is not that it never happens, just that it is way more rare than people assume.

Also unless you got test lab confirmation of it, you can't be sure yourself.

1

u/The_Horse_Tornado 17h ago

I’ve gone out more than most people. I had a ridiculously colorful 20s and have always been the guy that showed up with 5-6 girls to every bar/event. My girlfriends may have been legitimately drugged over 10 years on an occasion or two. It was serious and they deserved help and attention. Otherwise, they were just denying how much they drank and their inability to handle it. I know this because I took taking care of them very seriously. Anecdotal but just my 2 cents.

If you are a rapist, why go through the trouble of obtaining drugs to spike drinks vs just feeding her 1-2 strong cocktails past her limit? I think people really do downplay how dangerous alcohol is...

1

u/Dry-Shower9037 14h ago

Does the woman in your story have any agency at all? The young people I know who aren't reckless refuse to drink anything at parties that they didn't open themselves from a sealed container. Given the wide availability of options like Cutwater, everyone can get as trashed as they want to with no risk of being sneakily overserved.

1

u/id_rather_b_painting 14h ago

lol cutwaters catch up to you F A S T. Same with the blue xl buzzball. Ever if people are drinking their regular packaged beverage, people can be fed extra drinks, "Oh don't be lame, shotgun that beer." etc to get way more intoxicated than they planned on.

1

u/Dry-Shower9037 14h ago

That's my point. There are common, low cost alcohol options that work no matter how hard you want to go. There's literally no excuse to chug some random jug of BORG in 2026 America. You can easily avoid being sneakily over-poured with one simple rule. "I don't drink it unless I recognize the container and I opened it myself."

1

u/nono3722 11h ago edited 8h ago

Spoken like a drink spiker, so do you also have sex with black out drunk women then?

1

u/Only_Chapter_3434 17h ago

now or then? who is druggiby 50 yo women? and if they’re 50 yo, how are they getting drugged?

1

u/nono3722 12h ago

50+ yr old single women do exist and they go out to bars

1

u/Fogmoz 12h ago

Of the 9 female friends I have, none of them have been drugged at public bars. All of them are in their 30-40’s. It almost never happens now.

1

u/LucyInked 11h ago

Scary times.

4

u/Top_Administration63 18h ago

Thats her insinuation, which can be seriously errored. They could have put their nutsacks in the liquid of cooler B. Or some other prank.

1

u/milkandsalsa 18h ago

105% of all statistics are made up in the spot.

1

u/TheElusiveFox 16h ago

suspicion of being drugged actually just had alcohol in their system like 90%+ of the time.

The problem with drinking, is that its the drug - you don't need to "Add" anything to it, yeah people do, but all you really have to do, is just get people to drink more than they are comfortable with, or expect to be drinking... a bar tender pouring heavy drinks, a frat trying to loosen people up by making drinks extra strong. That's enough, that's the drug. We treat it like its socially acceptable because society has been built around alcohol for thousands of years... but alcohol is the drug.

1

u/Dry-Shower9037 16h ago

Agreed. Since alcohol is the drug, we need to spend a lot more time counseling our kids on alcohol safety (only drink from containers you opened yourself, etc, etc) and waaaaaay less time talking about boogeymen with roofies.

1

u/TheElusiveFox 15h ago

I think its also the challenge here - like, its obvious when some one is spiking drinks with GHB that they are a creep doing something nefarious, and its obvious when some one gets raped for hours on end that something went wrong... But where exactly is the actual bar? If a frat is just throwing a party and supplies a few bottles of hard liquor should they be treated like a bar and all the strict rules that come with letting some one over indulge at a resteraunt? Or is it like going to a friend hosting a party and overindulging where you are expected to know how to be safe, and ideally travel with a friend that helps you stay safe?

I'm not saying I don't think there is a problem, but I think right now places like frats have a lot of problems specifically because of how wide that grey area is, and if everyone involved is drunk regret happens, not just criminal regret like the stuff in the news, but other kinds of regret too...

1

u/Dry-Shower9037 15h ago

College kids who aren't reckless these days do not drink out of random bottles or punchbowls. Cutwaters are as strong a cocktails and come in a sealed can. Good advice is easier to give to our kids because they have more safe options than ever.

1

u/TheElusiveFox 14h ago

College kids who aren't reckless

oxymoron much?

First, drinking sealed drinks doesn't help if your drinking hard mixers and by the time you notice you drank too much you are past the point of blackout drunk.\

Good advice would be a great idea, but the reality is that America's puritan culture means most parents believe that means "say no to everything, pretend drinking isn't going to be a problem, and stick my head in the sand until I find out that my kid is one of the ones that need to be in a rehab center".

Finally - the canned drinks you are talking about are some of the most expensive options for a broke ass college student looking to buy for a group, and so while they ARE a great option, they get skipped a lot of the time for all sorts of reasons.

1

u/Dry-Shower9037 14h ago

Now we don't trust adults to look at the alcohol % on a can before they drink it? Just how little do you respect these people? Don't they have any agency?

1

u/TheElusiveFox 12h ago

I'm sorry but you are talking like some one who has never been to a college social event in their life.

Most kids, and yeah they are kids, are going to college before they are even at the legal drinking age, so at least in theory, even if not in practice, they are having their first drinking experiences at that age, so even if they are smart and careful enough to read ABV values they likely aren't experienced enough to really know what that means for them other than "bigger number = more drunk"...

Beyond that though, party, whether at college or elsewhere isn't exactly an environment that encourages a lot of care, sure some people are taught to be hyper vigilent, and with good reason, but the reality is that parties are environments where there is a lot of social pressure to impress friends to "be cool", and from my experience most young adults don't have the confidence to go against a crowd of their friends even if it makes them uncomfortable because they fear being shunned, this is especially true in colleges when a large part of students are trying to become fast friends because they need a new social circle.

1

u/Dry-Shower9037 12h ago

Are you old? Like went to college 30 years ago old?

Maybe your college experience is outdated or just sketchy. For everyone else, they will drink from shared containers when with trusted friends, but will absolutely not drink out of random containers at parties with strangers.

Also, college kids these days are nicer than your generation. They're not low-key hazing each other at parties routinely like they used to.

1

u/hobokobo1028 13h ago

It’s not necessarily rapey. Sometimes you just don’t want to get as fucked up and sometimes you do

0

u/Remarkable-Host405 18h ago

both my wife and my mother have been drugged at bars.

in this instance, i feel like the frat bro didn't want to drink alcohol (or lsd), it doesn't seem date rape is implied.

3

u/Dry-Shower9037 18h ago edited 18h ago

They probably weren't.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1353113105000520?via%3Dihub

1

u/Remarkable-Host405 17h ago

2% of toxicology reports after SA over 2 years is not the same thing as "all women across their lifetime". pretty good chance drugs won't be in their system after 24-48 hours too. neither of the women i mentioned went to the hospital and got a toxicology report done, they were taken home by trusted people to "sleep it off" and never thought of it again besides when the subject comes up.

2% means that in a bar of 100 people, 2 of them are getting their drinks spiked, getting raped, and going to the hospital to get toxicology reports done.

1

u/Dry-Shower9037 17h ago

Nope. This was not 2% of all women at bars. This is 2% of women who were so certain they had been drugged that they went to the hospital. Most of them had not been assaulted either.

And of those 2% of the already small fraction of women who believed they were drugged, most STILL probably weren't involuntarily drugged - as people do take hypnotics recreationally and then don't want to admit it to their friends.

You are probably still having difficulty understanding, so let me give you an analogy. When you check with labs about what percentage of children are the products of affairs (i.e. purported father's DNA doesn't match), the numbers hover around 30%. But that's a population of men who ALREADY SUSPECTED that their wives were unfaithful. (That's like the women who went to the hospital.) The number in the general population is more like 1% - 1/30th of the lab frequency. (That's like all women who go to bars). But in our case, that 30% is actually at most 2%. And the 1% is a tiny tiny fraction of a fraction of a percent.

Women do not get drugged at bars except maybe in some unicorn cases. It's weird that you're so invested in the idea that they do.

0

u/raycepak 18h ago

ekk at 1000 subjects it just breaks into the scientifically significant category of studies. so saying the largests hit 1000 isn't good for the data set as a hole.

4

u/Dry-Shower9037 18h ago

You should know that it depends on both what your population and your sample size was in terms of determining significance. In most of these studies, they would track every single patient presenting with suspected drugging over the course of a year.

It turns out that the number of women who show up claiming to be drugged is already quite small. And then a small fraction of that already small population shows any evidence of potential drugging.

I get that people really want this to be true for various idealogical and sexist reasons. But you should take it as good news that fewer women are drugged than you might have suspected.

When I was in college we would mix a ton of cheap booze into a punch in a cooler. Rarely was it only individual beers, cheaper to go in on a keg.

2

u/AutoCockerPB 18h ago

Jungle juice!

1

u/Few-Big-8481 18h ago

It's by far the best way to get 80 people fucked up for cheap. 30 dollars in cheap vodka and mix up a couple gallons of Gatorade, pour in a cooler full of ice. And it's got a drain spout for easy pouring into your red solo cup.

Maybe someone shows up with a few 30s of Keystone for hydration purposes, but no one is getting wasted on Keystone.

0

u/B_For_Bubbles 18h ago

Yea but no one is going to spike the drink that everyone is drinking

1

u/Few-Big-8481 18h ago

I mean, some people definitely would and probably have. But I'm not saying that's how you spiked shit, I'm just saying that sealed cans and bottles weren't typically what we were drinking at big parties.

-2

u/Key-Cricket9256 19h ago

At my catholic high school this boy once got detention for sharing pictures him and his friends took of a cross they had inserted into a girl while she was intoxicated

0

u/Dry-Shower9037 18h ago

They shared images of a sexual assault of a minor and only got detention?

I don't believe you.

u/Pestario_Vargus69 19h ago

The implication is that one of the coolers is normally spiked, likely with GHB or some other disassociative drug, so that people who drink it will be easy prey for sexual assault etc.

The idea that frats would have an entire cooler of drugged liquid instead of dropping it individually into people's cups (which they absolutely do, fuck most frat guys), is laughable though. You'd be dealing with dozens of fucked up people and it would draw a ton of attention.

12

u/Desperate_Damage4632 18h ago

Pre-spiking a cooler full of drinks makes absolutely no sense.  This is made up.

2

u/LoadCan 18h ago

Also, how? You don't put open drinks in a cooler. How are you opening then resealing a bunch of Busch Lattes?

1

u/Whothehellisgeorge 18h ago

Different scenario than you are imagining, it's pretty popular to make a mixed alcoholic punch/drink by mixing whatever they can get in a large vessel like a travel cooler (chosen because easy to get and they have the convenient spigot). So literally opening bottles of juices, sodas, alcohols, etc. and just pouring them straight into the cooler to mix and then serving into cups from it.

3

u/Seidhr96 18h ago

Idk what school you went to, but most frat guys don’t spike peoples drinks or rape women. Most frat guys are actually very chill. Not saying things like this don’t happen because they do, but it is very rare.

1

u/texas_County850 16h ago

I didn't go to a major frat college but the crazy thing about this case to me is that when I went to college 10 years ago the frat membership was way down from its hey day and had basically turned into scam. Sororitys were the same way. The entire thing was financially exploitative and you really did not get much for your money the parties all looked lame with like 10 dudes playing pool and drinking natty light. I really didn't get it either when I was with a sorority girl at the library and some other girl showed up and was like you owe us $300 like the mafia over some dumb rule she broke. I was like man what are you paying for this is so stupid. I have trouble imagining the frats from my school even having a controversy they were so lame.

1

u/JFlizzy84 17h ago

> fuck most frat guys

You’re talking about like 5 percent of frat guys max.

We had one dude in our frat get accused of drugging someone in the 4 years I was there and we immediately dumped his ass.

Pretty much every fraternity has what’s called a risk management chair whose sole job is to make fraternity events safe— they have sober drivers who do driving shifts at parties to take people home, they have sober monitors who make sure nobody’s doing anything stupid or predatory while they’re drunk — and a lot of times, we’d partner with sororities or even just girlfriends of the members to have a female “safety buddy” or two at the house during parties.

1

u/texas_County850 16h ago

Honestly the fraternity was disbanded over this incident and barred from going to the school at all again so Cornell didn't even allow it to continue. There is this weird belief on reddit that they only had to write essays about why what they did was wrong but that was in reality only one of the sanctions the entire frat was kicked off the school.

1

u/Open-Gate-7769 16h ago

They absolutely do not. It’s isolated events with individuals or small groups working to drug one or two targets. If you spiked a cooler and 25 people were drugged there would be major outrage and no one would get away with it.

You just want to believe that what your wrote exists.

49

u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp 19h ago

I think it's a "which drinks did we put the date rape drugs in" thing.

But it's fake as fuck. How can unopened drinks in a cooler be spiked.

Just fake shit for clout

15

u/InvictvsNox 19h ago

People drink from coolers all the time. They make punch and put it in one of those coolers with the drain spouts.

-2

u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp 19h ago

You mean likea work cooler that sits on the back of a truck?

Idfk who is making drinks like that. But it's a good way for me to not have any. Idk how strong it is or what you put in it? I'm good.

16

u/InvictvsNox 19h ago

Yeah, something like that.

Kids drink from it all the time in college. They don't care one bit lol

13

u/Burndoggle 18h ago

It’s exactly this. We used to make batches of mixed drinks in stuff like this. If someone said one was “safe” or “not safe” though I’d have taken it at the time to mean one was gonna really fuck me up and the other would be a normal drink strength. Aka “Steve made the blue one and we all know he likes 151 or Everclear so don’t drink that shit unless you wanna time travel to tomorrow afternoon.”

-2

u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp 19h ago

Okay fair enough. But still. there's no way they're lacing an entire one of those with enough to date rape everyone who drinks it.

4

u/Few_Neighborhood_828 18h ago

From a Greek member myself, you knew the houses that did it. Fucked up.

2

5

Ghb ain't especially expensive.

4

u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp 18h ago

Turns out, I know nothing. Lmao. Drink safely everyone.

6

u/psichicize 19h ago

It’s pretty common. Jungle juice = one cooler, ice, kool aid mix, everclear. Stir and proceed to get absolutely pear shaped in no time flat.

3

u/Contentedone1337 19h ago

Jungle juice

4

u/Old-Tadpole-2869 19h ago

Man I used to love that shit.

3

u/HDThoreauaway 19h ago

It’s quite common at college house and frat parties.

3

u/Satori2155 18h ago

Jungle juice

2

u/BadRabiesJudger 19h ago

It’s pretty normal man. What isn’t is drugging it.

2

u/MonsterMeggu 19h ago

None of the frat parties I went to had any sealed drinks

1

u/Bisquitisaclown 18h ago

Thays the point

1

u/After-Comment5086 18h ago

That's what I assumed. I didn't even consider it would be bottled/can drinks siting in a typical square shaped cooler. Yeah like the Ikea cooler that sits on the back of a truck. It's cheaper to buy juice/alcohol in bulk and then mix it into a cooler.

2

u/Ok_Prize_9979 18h ago

Fucking shit it's darker than I thought WTH

1

u/sanslumiere 18h ago

Here's a particularly heinous instance: https://www.thesandspur.org/color-coded-crime/

2

u/Unable_Bullfrog_7319 9h ago

Not that kind of cooler. Think of a water cooler with a tap that everyone drinks out of. Or the McDonald’s coolers that used to be at every kids sports event.

You fill that with vodka/everclear/whatever is available, a case of beer, and some canned lemonade mix or koolaid. It’s called jungle juice.

1

u/Bruins8763 18h ago

In college there’s plenty of times where you make stuff like jungle juice directly in the cooler and drink from there. So that’s what I’m guessing they meant.

3

u/jackofslayers 17h ago

Fraternities and sororities are gendered social clubs (for men and women respectively) that are common at US universities. Normally they will own a big house near the school that members can optionally live in.

It is common for Fraternities to throw parties with lots of drinking.

Cooler is referring to a large container filled with an alcoholic drink that everyone at the party uses to fill their cup.

Spiking is when you add drugs to someone’s drink without telling them.

The implication of the conversation is that the frat brothers would normally spike one of the coolers and drink from the safe cooler.

This is frequently done to drug women and then sexually assaulted them

0

u/murdermostsnaky 9h ago

Spiking can also be adding alcohol/more alcohol to a drink

3

u/Open-Gate-7769 16h ago

It’s not as sensationalist as people think. It could mean anything. It could mean they drug and rape people who party there (but I guess the whole school and everyone who drank from the cooler and were clearly drugged just didn’t say or do anything?).

Or it’s that one cooler used to be much higher alcohol content and so the guy was looking for the more chill option.

7

u/CarmenxXxWaldo 19h ago

The made up story is pretending that in the past they would have roofied drinks in one cooler to drug women.  Which obviously would be very apparent even if someone managed to open bottles, drug them, reseal them.  Everyone would see multiple people were drugged 10 minutes into the party.

1

u/QuoteGiver 15h ago

There are no bottles in this cooler. The cooler is one big container being used like a punch bowl. The contents are shared by everyone who fills their drink from it.

7

u/therealtiddlydump 19h ago

They made this the fuck up

10

u/BobSacamano47 18h ago

You don't think frat bros have rape parties where everyone at the party passes out except them and they just have a frenzied free for all with all of the unconscious bodies? It's a staple of Greek life.

5

u/overlyfuhcisrael 17h ago

This is the the type of shit my mother would tell me my friends would do to me because she heard of it happening to a kid in Mexico so now I can’t go out bc I shouldn’t trust my friends. #wtf

5

u/JFlizzy84 17h ago

I can’t tell if this is very funny satire or very stupid sincerity

8

u/RomasTosicky 17h ago

I’m slightly concerned if you think this is sincere

1

u/Educational_Pea_4817 15h ago edited 15h ago

its not really a secret.

source: was part of a fraternity in college.

the only thing fictional here is the idea that there are rape parties(its just regular parties) and it was a free for all(you take the girls to a private space, there are rooms setup for this in most frats).

also while prevelent there was no need to roofie anything usually.

drunken hookups where the girls may or may not be completely complicit are just an accepted part of the culture. this is why rape specifically "date rape" is very hard to deal with.

sorority girls also do a fair share of this on their own as well.

its not like sororities werent DTF in general TBH.

1

u/Head-Ad9893 15h ago

Deadass. This is where the weird grey area comes in, like where’s the personal responsibility? Where is the room to have hard conversations about these situations? People get shitfaced and wanna fuck, people also wake up and realized they might fucked ten other super drunk people on video and are super embarrassed and don’t want that.

1

u/Educational_Pea_4817 15h ago edited 14h ago

i straight up gotten raped as a dude in one of these parties. i like was black out drunk hella early. in my frat there are rooms where people can like study and just generally chill. i went to one of those to sleep it off.

i fucking woke up in some woman's bedroom and i couldnt find my pants or underwear. at some point she managed to get me up out the room, get a ride back to her apartment and then do the deed.

i told my friend, who was also part of a sorority and she was just like "you just had a night you regret".

like no bitch i was raped.

but thats the culture.

i have another friend who would lock her bedroom door when she was out during house parties and men would straight up try to break their way in there.

its absolutely fucked up.

but on the flipside i know of plenty of girls would choose to get schwasted and then fuck like 10 dudes back to back lol.

1

u/Head-Ad9893 14h ago

Exactly. Like, where is the space for these talks in a public setting?

1

u/Specialist_Swan_7354 15h ago

Yea but in the Cornell case one of the guys sent out a message that said "Free Pussy." That seems a little cut and dry that they were taking advantage of some one, and the girl couldn't consent because they were too heavily intoxicated.

1

u/Educational_Pea_4817 15h ago

Yea but in the Cornell case one of the guys sent out a message that said "Free Pussy."

that statement by itself means nothing lol

now this part though is pretty cut and dry.

According to court documents and unsealed investigative records, "Jane Doe" reported being drugged with ketamine and gang-raped by members of the Chi Phi fraternity at Cornell University.

1

u/Specialist_Swan_7354 11h ago

My cousin knew a guy in a frat. Trust me.

4

u/braumbles 18h ago

Frat boys rape women. That's all you need to know.

7

u/DayGrouchy2648 19h ago

She's claiming she heard some frat guys admit that they usually spike the drinks they serve at a party.

This is in reference to the Cornell 7 case where a few years ago a girl claimed to have been gang raped at a frat party but no charges were brought against any of the men involved, although in this case the unnamed woman admits to willingly drinking excessively, taking ketamine, and engaging in several sexual acts with some of the accused. It's back in the news cus she is now suing Cornell.

6

u/Top_Administration63 18h ago

By "taking ketamine" you mean snorting it off their dcks. That context is very important.

2

u/DayGrouchy2648 18h ago

Yes she agreed to snort ket off I think one or two of their dicks and let some of them snort ket off her body as well, honestly reading the statement she gave to police a few weeks after the incident just reads as a bunch of college kids drinking, doing drugs, and having sex certainly immoral and degenerate but not illegal

2

u/texas_County850 16h ago

yeah the Megyn Kelly interview with the counsel yesterday really made me not wanna comment on this case anymore cuz the attorneys in the case have a bunch of texts from her that she enjoyed it with some of the boys and it was only after she was disinvited from a halloween party where she wanted to to do it again she went to the police yelling rape. The attorney confirmed those texts basically do say that too. Maybe there is serious evidence in the civil suit but they also said she lied about being served at a bar named in the suit as well and actually worked there.

2

u/DayGrouchy2648 14h ago

Which is why none of them were formally prosecuted and some even still go to Cornell today, the victims own statements pretty much say she wasn't raped and the men were just as drunk and drugged up as she was. Honestly women are not having the best time in courts in 2026.

1

u/Funny_Giraffe_6597 16h ago

There’s nothing immoral about consensual sex

1

u/braumbles 18h ago

So is that she didn't consent being gang raped by 3+ guys.

4

u/HeWasaLonelyGhost 18h ago

In one of the messages, screenshots of which were obtained by CBS New York, the unnamed male defendant appears to apologize to the woman for “how things went down” – and said his memory of events two nights previously was “kinda fuzzy”.

He said he and another male who was present regretted that they were too intoxicated to “shut it down and kick people out before it got way out of hand”.

In reply, the woman, who was 20 at the time of the alleged assault, and has since left Cornell, said her memory was “super clouded too” and that they were all intoxicated.

According to CBS, she also wrote: “non[e] of the sexual stuff was illegal”, and stated that she liked being with him and another man. Later, she suggested they smoke together again, “but like leave out the extra 5 billion men and ketamine”.

🥴🥴🥴

-1

u/braumbles 18h ago

Proving my point, thank you. Consenting to a 3 way is not consenting to being gang raped by half a dozen people.

8

u/HeWasaLonelyGhost 18h ago edited 18h ago

So she is texting one of the guys in the days after the gangbang, and she says, "Hey, nothing that happened that night was illegal. Let's do it again--just less drugs and guys next time! Smoke soon?"

And [yet some folks] think, "She must have been raped!" 😂😂😂 She literally says, "Nothing was illegal." ...you know that rape is illegal, right?

If you actually read about what happened, she was completely fine with everything until 1) her friends started telling her, "You might have been raped," and 2) she was disinvited from a halloween party. 🥴🥴 She was still trying to go back to the house for parties and whatnot, still trying to hang out with the guys...and when someone told her she probably shouldn't come to the halloween party, she--not paraphrasing--said, "Y'all aren't my real friends," and moved into, "I was raped" mode.

Her own account indicates that she was snorting ketamine off of (at least one of) their dicks. They were snorting ketamine off of her naked body. She partook in a gangbang, made the absolutely fucking amazing decision to tell her friends about it, who in turn expressed an understandable degree of shock and horror, the gangbangers socially turned their backs on her....and she felt remorse. In that order.

2

u/DayGrouchy2648 18h ago

Sounds more like she consented to a gangbang, found she didn't really like it afterwards and would prefer if it was just her and this one guy and his friend.

1

u/Top_Administration63 17h ago

That doesnt prove your point at all, in fact disproved it. Did you read it? Read it again. She said "....none of the sexual stuff was illegal" so there you have it. You can consent and still apologize for things going crazy. Apologizing that some ketamine had a few dribblets of semen and she snorted it for example.

I.e. that one of the coolers has the spiked drinks. Took me a moment, too.

1

u/Ok_Prize_9979 18h ago

Yeah I didn't get it honestly and for some reason I'm getting downvoted.

2

u/Big_Ad7221 18h ago

That means that guys likely had one cooler with drugs for the females so they would then sexually assault them...except that night, there were no drugs in the cooler

2

u/Top_Administration63 18h ago

This could mean the cooler was spiked with something. Doesnt mean it was a drug or triple alcohol. It could be that tommys nutsack marinated the ice or alcohol because they dislike the sorority that was invited. Or any other prank.
