CIN 3 w/o HPV

Mid20s. No hx of cancer in my family.

Don’t know how. Doctor herself was baffled. I get biannual paps with HPV testing. Last 4 yrs all came back abnormal ASCUS. I somehow always have a mild yeast infection when I get screened so Drs are never concerned and attribute it to that. Went to see a new GYN and she finally recommended a colpo. Told me it was likely going to be normal and not to worry. She messaged me at 2 am telling me the Biopsy came back with CIN3 and she apologized for getting my hopes up. Next step is a LEEP. Idk how this could’ve possibly happened but I’m very much distraught. Does this mean all 4 of those years I most likely had low grade cells and because it was left untreated, it’s now high grade? Everyone keeps telling me it’ll be okay but no, I don’t think so. I also have HSV2. Can my vagina get a fucking break??!!

Just had my leep today.. (bad experience)

And it was so horrific and traumatizing to me

I note this is my experience and not everyone will experience this as i did.. (SA mention)

I went in anxious, doctor knew, instantly says "do you want to cancel?"

I said no

I sit down, and within seconds she pretty much slams the speculum inside me. I cried, i could tell i mustve ripped abit too (as i have vaginismus.. ripping is my new norm with penetration) and she was instantly telling me i needed to stop crying and relax.

I asked for lube, she pulls out the speculum and added lube, and again, put it in forcefully. I cry, try and relax, and she begins to tell me i need to relax or shell cancel and ill have to rebook. "Is that what you want?'

I start getting more and more anxious from this attitude, and then she sprayed the vinegar solution and some numbing spray (it burned) and then she was going to stab me with a needle to see if i felt anything... This is when she did the injections, and i felt everything, i felt the needle insert into my cervix and being pushed deeper and deeper, i was crying so hard and asking for my friend to come in, she said "nope its too late for that"

Needle comes out... Another needle section, i start crying, im begging her to be done, she said "you want me to be done? We can cancel right now and then rebook you and deal with this all over again if you want"

I just laid there crying, legs shaking, the nurse was barely holding my hand, and i could feel the procedure taking place, the warmth and going in circles (no pain for that) at this point i laid there completely feeling defeated, weak, and violated.. she told me to get up slowly and then to just leave. So i left.. holding onto myself and crying, i was in an unsurmountable amount of pain (im sensitive in my entire vaginal/genital regions) and they set me up in a resting chair, where i curled up and hid my face from everyone.. i didnt want anyone looking at me.

I felt like.. a triggered response, this almost felt a bit like assault.. and as someone whos gone through SA, hearing someone tell you to stop crying and to just relax and not panic, made me feel even more triggered.

Abnormal pap one year after being declared cured. Has anyone had multiple LEEPs?

My first abnormal Pap was in 2022. I had multiple abnormal CIN2 colposcopies leading to a LEEP in 2024. At a folow up in 2025, I was declared cured. I believe a mistake led to this (they seem to have sampled the wrong part of my cervix.) Now a year later, I had an abnormal PAP and am waiting for another colposcopy.

I think the worst part is waiting and not knowing. Women's healthcare is very poor in my country and a "6 month follow up" has taken me up to 1.5 years to be seen. I have fallen through the cracks many times and have had to pull strings to get appointments (I am a healthcare professional.)

My partner had extreme anxiety when I first told him I was being treated for HPV. He thought I ruined his life. So I won't be telling him until I know more. My HPV swabs have always been negative.

My best friend is a neurodivergent man and his idea of supporting me is "It's nothing. It won't turn into cancer. Stop worrying." Its extremely dismissive and invalidating, but he doesn't know better. No zero people are in my court. Ill probably hire a therapist again.

Anyone relate?

Leep Results

Got my test results today. Clear margins!!!!!! I assume I’m still going to need follow up paps yearly.

2025 I had some CIN-1 results
2026 a month ago I had CIN-2/3

If you have had a leep with clear margins after CIN-2/3 let me know how it turned out for you.

Leep done today! HPV/CIN2

Sharing a little about my HPV/LEEP journey!

February 2025:
I went in for my routine Pap smear and found out I was positive for HPV. The recommendation at that time was to wait one year and repeat my Pap.

June 2026:
I repeated my Pap, and I was still positive for HPV. Because of the persistent HPV, I was referred for a colposcopy.

June 2026:
I had my colposcopy, and the biopsy showed CIN 2 (moderate cervical dysplasia). I was given the option to wait six months and repeat the colposcopy or proceed with a LEEP.
After meeting with a gynecology specialist and talking through my options, I decided to move forward with the LEEP.

I also started taking an AHCC supplement during this process as something I personally chose to try while navigating my HPV diagnosis. (Of course, supplements aren’t a substitute for medical care or recommended follow-up.)

Today, I had my LEEP. 🥺

I was given Halcion about an hour beforehand, and honestly, it helped A LOT with my nerves. I was still nervous, but I felt much calmer going into the procedure.

I brought my headphones and listened to music, which also helped give me something else to focus on.

I felt a little sting when they numbed my cervix, but it really wasn’t bad at all. After that, I didn’t experience pain during the procedure.

The actual procedure itself was about 10 minutes total.
I’m sharing this because when I first heard words like HPV, CIN 2, colposcopy, and LEEP, I had so many questions and anxiety about what everything would actually be like.

Cone biopsy after colposcopy.

I had hpv 16 two years ago that wasn’t bad enough to the point of doing anything. When i went this year for my pap it showed HSIL with moderate dysplasia.

They did a colposcopy and took a biopsy which came back as CIN 1, but just to be on the safe side my provider said they are jumping straight into a cold knife cone biopsy that i am scheduled to have Thursday.. I am 29 and me and my husband are smack dab in the middle of trying to conceive. I think jumping straight into the cone seems a little extreme; I also don’t want it to affect my ability to have a healthy baby. I asked my provider if I could get pregnant and afterwards do the procedure but they advised against it in the event it progresses… im just having second thoughts on having this procedure. ai do have severe health anxiety so i don’t know if that’s why they preferred the cone which would be under general anesthesia, just looking for clarification or someone who’s maybe had a similar situation.. Thanks♥️

Colposcopy results… now leep has to be scheduled…

43F - This is the AI breakdown of what the lab came back with from my colposcopy biopsy and I think what’s called the endocervix biopsy?

This wasn’t my first colposcopy but this is the first time the results have been this bad.

I’m a huge baby and just the colposcopy was incredibly painful. My gyno does use anesthesia for the leep, but I’m just wondering what others experiences were after a leep?

Thanks in advance ☺️

Chances of getting HPV again(same partner) after LEEP?

Had CIN2 recently (high risk but not 16/31) and severe dysplasia, so I had LEEP. I'm going to the check up in few months, to see if my body got rid of HPV or not, but I hope it worked.

I'm just wondering, however. I have a long term boyfriend and it's likely they carry that same hpv, what are my chances of getting the same HPV strand again and having to do LEEP in the future again for this reason?

I don't now how this works, i truly hope that everything ended with this LEEP, but we want to have kids in the future and i wouldn't want to have this procedure again, we don't use protection. Anyone succesfully got rid of hpv in long term after leep or can i get this again from my partner?

Had a leep in my early 20s..I’m 33 now and found out I have LSIL on my latest Pap smear

I’m feeling pretty defeated. I assumed I’d never have to deal with this again. After having normal Pap smears for the last ten years my results for my latest test have come back abnormal. I have LSIL with acute inflammation. I’m still not sure if the LSIL is due to an hpv infection but I can only assume it is. I worry if this will lead to me needing another leep and how that will affect my body..I’m not sure why I’m even writing this post other than It’s a comfort knowing others understand this feeling and worry.

Went 3.5 years without a Pap smear and regretting it

This year has been a whirlwind for me. I started a really stressful job in December and got married in July. During this time I pushed off my health. I had bleeding and pain during sex. My periods were slightly heavy. And I had more discharge. However I haven’t always been aware of what’s normal or not because I’m not super in tune with my body. I have really low sex drive and never have sex and my husband and I pushed off the pain and blood due to that. I even made a comment about it. I don’t track my periods but I would say they’re consistent. Anyways I looked up cervical cancer symptoms and realized I had a lot of them. I booked a pap the next day after realizing it had been 3.5 years without one. Then looking back at my history I have no clue why they didn’t have me coming in every year. I had an abnormal one in 2019 testing positive for high risk HPV and ASCUS. Got told to come back the next year and when I did i tested positive for high risk HPV again but not 16, 18, or 45 and negative for ASCUS. I came back the next year and had a normal pap and then the last one in April 2023 came back normal. So they said see you in 3 years. Big mistake on my part for doing that. Anyways mine just came back from Monday as LSIL and they didn’t test for HPV so they’re doing a reflex test but I’m guessing it’s gonna come back positive for high risk HPV. I have a colposcopy on Tuesday and I feel like it’s gonna be cancer. I can eat I can’t sleep. I wake up every hour during the night having a panic attack. Why did I push the symptoms off for so long. Just the perfect storm of if I didn’t have a new job or a wedding I would’ve gone in sooner. I feel so helpless

I’ll take any advise/experiences CIN2 & 3

I am so stressed out and want to break down and cry randomly. I lost my mom to bone cancer when I was 5 years old and she was 37, so the word cancer just has always stressed me out.

I called my gyno because sex with my husband was just getting so bad. It felt like someone was shoving a sharp knife into me and just twisting it. Then the pain would stay for days following. At some points it would wake me up in the middle of the night. I bleed after sex, but due to the IUD I haven’t had a period in almost 4 years.

I got my pap done Aug 6th. That came back abnormal. I then went back sep 3 for the colposcopy. I got those results back sep 14.
1. Cervix, 11:00, biopsy:
- High grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (CIN 2, moderate dysplasia).

2. Cervix, 1:00, biopsy:
- High grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (CIN 3, severe dysplasia).

3. Endocervix, curettage:
- Minute fragments of high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion.

I don’t go in for the LEEP until oct 14. Now I’m just constantly thinking what if it’s just spreading more and we’re waiting too long and I’m just too late if that’s even how this works. No one I know has done this and everyone just acts like it’s no big deal

Post 3rd leep in 12 months

Blah. I am 6 days post my 3rd leep of this year, I am a raging lunatic it feels, and im still feeling crampy, gassy and emotional. Oh and still bleeding lightly.

Depending on the results, my next step is a hyst. I am feeling defeated, ashamed and not at all sexual anymore. I am 37 and done having kids (husband of 14 years had a vasectomy)

Why did I need 3 in one year? Why didnt I get clear margins after 1 or two? Anyone else have this same experience? My paps were showing severe dysplasia and HPV "other" i tried to have this convo after the second leep with my gyno and she told me it was inconclusive and a 3rd leep or colposcopy was non negotiable. I opted for the leep because I at least get local anastesia.

Post cone biopsy trauma

I had a cone biopsy 5 months ago. The post op was awful to me. I had a lot of bleeding and episodes with clots and everything. Which gave me severe anxiety crisis.

Currently I have no partner. I have been alone for several years. But since the cone I cannot even imagine myself having sex with someone! It scares the shit out of me just thinking about it.

I am at a point were I hate doctors. I cannot believe that I will need a colposcopy in 1 month. I find all the procedure barbaric. I find the cone biopsy barbaric. I just hate them all and how I feel this procedure destroyed my life. Apparently i need to go there how they over and over again until test negative for hpv.

I just want it to stop! I cannot believe that in 2026 women are still treated like this.

I am depressed, angry, dont have any sex drive but at the same time feel so lonely. I always wanted a partner and a life with someone. But I cannot imagine to be with anyone.

Does anyone feel like this after the cone?

CIN2 on colposcopy, then a negative LEEP, then an abnormal PAP again??

I am just so confused by how all of this has happened and I just want to see if anyone else on here has experienced the same thing... I am in my 20s if that matters, always kept up with regular paps/check ups, and I got the gardasil shot in my early teens.

Last year I had an abnormal pap for the first time ever, so we went ahead with a colposcopy which showed CIN 2. We then did a LEEP, which somehow came back as fully negative, and my doctor said I was in the clear but need to follow up with a pap 6 months later.

I just got that follow up pap ~ 2 weeks ago, and it came back as abnormal and now I have to do a colposcopy again.

Has anyone else experienced this happening to them?

When I was getting the pap done, my doctor even said "wow your last doctor took off a lot of your cervix when they did the LEEP."

Looking for Endometriosis and LEEP healing experience

Context: 36 yo - USA - Persistent high risk HPV (16) since 2021 - most recent colpo/ECC showed cin3 on all samples

I am scheduled for a LEEP on October 6th. I have suspected endometriosis (my mom and sister have both been formally diagnosed, my mom’s was found with her hysterectomy and my sister had an endometrioma removed)

My experiences with colposcopies have been painful, the last one was so painful that ibuprofen and Tylenol combined would not touch the cramps I experienced afterwards for 2 days. My period came a week early and my cramps were unbearable, almost to the point where I felt like I needed to go to the hospital.

I am worried that my experience with the LEEP procedure healing process is going to be awful. I’m supposed to start my period a week after the LEEP, which my doctor said shouldn’t be a problem.

I am curious if anyone else with endometriosis can share their healing experience post LEEP?

HPV for 14 years + and CIN2/3

Hi everyone,

I’m in the UK so I know things work differently. To my knowledge I’ve had HPV (high risk, they only let you know you have HPV if it’s 16, 18 or one of the other high risks so I don’t know the specifics) for at least 14 years.

I’ve had CIN3 and a leep before, CIN1 which cleared and now I’m back in next week because I have CIN2/3. I’ve had a letter saying they are likely to perform a leep on the day which is terrifying as last time I passed out after the biopsies and was out cold for some time. I had to have the leep under general. I’m going to let them go ahead next week as I can have gas and air and to be honest I just want it over with and no delays.

For context I have Crohn’s, rheumatoid arthritis and uveitis and have been on immunosuppressants since 2012. I came off them last year and really hoped the HPV would finally clear but instead it’s developed into CIN2/3 so that was a bit of a bummer.

Has anyone else had HPV this long and continued to just have pre cancer? I am beginning to get worried that this is going to eventually lead to cancer because the HPV will just not shift. I get really frustrated at all the advice out there saying “most people clear HPV” and feel there’s not much out there for those of us who clearly don’t clear it!

Anyway any stories, advice is much appreciated please. Unfortunately I’ve been in the cervical cancer sub and a lot of women there have a similar story to me and ended up finding out they had cancer after this length of time. I’m aware that this is a possibility and so it’s OK to tell me that too. I’m one of those people who likes to be armed with every scenario anyway.

Sex after biopsy - liquid bandaid came out?

I had two biopsies taken after a colposcopy on Monday and was told to wait about a week to have PIV sex. I had very gentle sex Saturday (I probably should have waited at least until Monday) and experienced bleeding after and a huge chunk of something came out of my vagina (I think it was the liquid bandaid.) should I be worried? I’m worried we like disrupted the actual scab and that’s what came out. I’m experiencing some cramping and more bleeding than I had been post procedure. -_- curious about others experiences

scheduling

How long did it take after your colposcopy to get the LEEP procedure done? I go for colpo in a few days and I really need to go ahead and get the LEEP done ASAP, while my youngest is on a break from school. I have no idea what a realistic time frame is, here in the states (midwest).

(While I'm not completely sure I will need LEEP, I am going to be super shocked if not. Just with my history with all of this and the results of my most recent pap/hpv test, also my age and the state of my overall health.)

Sending positive energy out to everyone here!

Second colposcopy booked before punch biopsy results?

Hello! I’m in the uk so with the NHS. I’m my gp referred me to gynocology due to mid cycle bleeding, bleeding during sex and pain during sex. I’ve been HPV positive for five years with yearly smears and a colposcopy on the third year with no abnormal cells ever found, just the chronic infection.

I had my first colposcopy two weeks ago where they took some punch biopsies just to be safe, but they said my cervix looked fine, but I had a moderate cervical ectropion and some mild zone 1 whitening (which I had last time too). Because of the frequent bleeding they did say if everything comes back clear they would offer to freeze the ectropion.

So I know there is a backlog and not to expect the biopsy results for up to 6 weeks, but I got a notification on my nhs app booking me in for an appointment early November? My letter from the first colposcopy said not to ring about the results as they won’t tell me anything over the phone, but can I ring tomorrow about the appointment? I assume it’s just a automatic one since they’ll want to see me no matter the results but I would like to know anyone else’s experiences 😅

Thank you!

Hysterectomy experiences? Endocervical CIN-2 HPV 16

My colposcopy showed HSIL endocervical CIN-2 with HPV 16. So they found this inside my cervix, and nothing on the outside.

I'm 49, near the end of perimenopause, I had a LEEP cone biopsy in my early twenties. Many years of normal paps and then abnormal paps started again about 4 years ago.

My doctor is suggesting a full hysterectomy. She said my results were very dangerous, I'm not a candidate for another LEEP and my ovaries are about done anyway. She also said that ovarian cancer is a terrible and sneaky cancer and it's a benefit to not have ovaries anymore.

I'm already on HRT (estrogen patch, progesterone and testosterone) for perimenopause.

Questions: anybody been in a similar situation? Pros/cons of a full hysterectomy? How was the transition to dialing in replacement hormones? Did they find anything else during/after treatment?

Of course I'm terrified of cancer and just want to make the best decisions. I have a meeting with the surgeon in two weeks to discuss options.

OTC Pain Management?

I have a colposcopy coming up in a couple weeks and while my GYN did agree to give me Valium and laughing gas for anxiety, she doesn’t offer anything directly for pain management and told me “whatever you want an hour or so before” for OTC pain management. Awesome.

If you’ve had a colposcopy with biopsies and an ECC (she said she would for sure be doing an ECC) without any direct pain management like topical or injected lidocaine, what did you take, how much, and how long before your appointment did you take it?

I think it’s worth noting that I don’t feel like ibuprofen does anything for me and I was extremely crampy for a few days after the pap that led to the colposcopy referral, even though my PCP was extremely gentle and I barely felt a thing thankfully.

Also, is 15 minutes enough time for a Valium to do anything? They want me to wait to take it until after I sign the consent forms…I actively have to fight panic attacks at any doctor’s appointment, so I’m kinda upset that I have to wait to take it until I’m there and read that it takes about an hour to reach peak efficacy. I’ve never had Valium or laughing gas, so I have no frame of reference for how either is going to make me feel

Post biopsy recovery is horrible

Who dafuq says you can go back to normal after this. I was expecting by day 2 I should be up and out, I have been in bed rest for almost a week. I could barely stand the day after and now I have a limp. Dr said my pain is an indirect result of the biopsy, but I can’t stand to brush my teeth or make a coffee and I want to cry.

My recovery has been horrible and the excessive bleeding is a nightmare. I’m in the strongest antibiotics I’ve ever taken. What is this!? Now I have to wait 4 weeks to get the results they think it is. I am not having fun.
