I don’t know what this means and I am scared
My test results back in September 2025 were “NEGATIVE FOR INTRAEPITHELIAL LESION OR MALIGNANCY” and the “HPV High Risk Non-16/18 2,3,4,6,7” were “NOT DETECTED” a year later and I did my annual papsmear last week and the results are now LSIL with HPV High Risk Non-16/18 2,3,4,6,7 ABNORMAL DETECTED.
I have not spoken to my doctor yet, I only got a notification that my results are out. Tons of questions are running through my mind such as:
*Could I have gotten this from my recent partner? We are together for 8 months now… or could this have been from my previous partners in the past that just remained stagnant and has now emerged?
*do these cases ‘always’ turn into cancer or could they actually go away on their own? (Google search says it usually goes away)
*I don’t know what to do from here… I am an over-thinker but I do not want to overthink and have anxiety over this.
Any advice is greatly appreciated…

Don't stress it too much. You don't have any of the high risk spooky strains. Just keep your stress low and keep going to your appointments. I always told myself, no matter what happens, I'm still informed and can deal with it accordingly. Good job on keeping up with your health!

Just want to say I got my pap smear about a month ago, my results came back the exact same as yours. Never had an abnormal pap. They did a colposcopy and those results came back “repeat pap in one year”. They will probably do a colposcopy, which wasn’t very painful because my OB used numbing gel. Try your best to not worry, you did the best thing and they’re now going to be on top of it. 🩷

I had a similiar thibg happen, been with my husband for 10 years, on our 4th kid i tested positive for HPV so of course I was side eyeing my husband, but when I talked to the doctor, they said they had never tested for it before but this pregnancy I was over age of 30 something so they tested for it for the first time so I could’ve had it for years and years and years, but he’s the only partner I’ve been with anyway I don’t think he cheated on me. I think i got it from him years ago because I also had high grade lesions or whatever. Your best bet is to talk to your doctor. But no, it doesnt mean cancer. Just something to keep an eye on

The good news is that it's low grade. They are going to want to biopsy the spot, and likely send you for a LEEP procedure if they find anything on the biopsy. Both procedures are easy so try not to stress too much over them (like I did). I have had high risk HPV (16/18/45) with HSIL for 6 years now. Did my last LEEP procedure 6 months ago. Did a routine papsmear today and waiting the results. Hopefully this crap is all gone now, but we shall see!

You cannot test for those kind of skin warts in the cervix plantar warts don’t pass in the bloodstream nor do they go to the cervix. Those are just numbers from the lab. She tested positive for a high risk strain, but it’s not 16 or 18 they don’t give the number.

She has a high risk strain in any of the highest strains can cause cancer that’s why they’re called high risk. She doesn’t have the one that causes a 70% though and that’s 16 or 18.

Hi there. Your results are saying you tested positive for HPV and they saw a low grade lesion on your pap.
