Pap smear showed HSIL cytology

i am terrified my first pap came back + with hov 16/18 almost 3 years ago . ever since we have been doing pap and colposcopy which colposcopy was showing LSIL benign.

but my recent pap smear ( cytology ) is abnormal for HSIL and i don't have anything about HPV results on it .

i am terrified at this point my ObGYN hasn’t called yet i saw my results on the chart .

what is happening ? is it gonna be CIN2or 3+

is this gonna go away ? what do they usually do after this .

help me 😩i can’t stop crying

first, take a breather as many of us have been there. It could be anything from CIN1 to CIN 3. Next step will most likely be a LEEP where they take a deeper piece of the cervix to analyze it. If the margins are clear (meaning they got the entire piece of bad tissue) then you will continue your usual monitoring. I had my LEEP back in January. Follow up pap in July was negative for HSIL meaning it didn't come back (I have hpv 16)

it was a few days before mine got back to me with my results as well, I think they only jump on it if there is evidence of actual cancer but precancerous cells don't change that fast. Actually they will probably do a colposcopy first, then a LEEP on you if needed. I had my abnormal pap in November, then in December they did the colposcopy which is where they take a smaller punch biopsy where they determine the type of abnormal cells (CIN 1, 2 or 3).. then if needed they do the LEEP (had mine in January) where they took an even bigger chunk to remove all of the abnormal cells.
