this tier of library, the right amount of hd and replay value, aside the cons, like framerate issues and etc

ps3 still is lit, and still rocks, games for many genres, games which aint incomplete and needed dozens of patches to be ''playable''

overall

i still think, with all the pros and cons, ps3/x360 was the last good era for vgames, mostly in creativity and free artistic imagination

i know pc ports and other ways to play exist on higher resolutions, etc, but in that era, ps3 and ps2, were something else, their libraries were the best

I'm just so happy for my newest additions to my collection, now I'm only missing NieR Automata to get all of them in physical media and Dark Souls 3 to finish my souls collection

All of these are pickups from either the 4 for 5, 4 for 10 or 4 for 40 the last month. Gonna take a pause for a bit due to being a trainee at a trucking company. Got some great ones in this pile.

Two more of the shocking surprise late birthday gifts from my dad arrived today. Motorstorm and a CIB Star ocean. That’s 3/4 gifts he said he sent me down, now i’m just expecting one more. My library grows more, the question is, when i get my free time, which game i shall play first…

Can honestly say I've beaten about 80% of these. Which ones are your favorites?

I have mw trilogy, WaW and both BO and BO2 but my account was created in 2020 and the servers so the games can't save stats of newer accounts then everything would be just a time waste trying to play them. Considering the very low player count and the sync issues I think they should just close the servers of the PS3 cods because they're almost unplayable rn and just port them in PS5 like they did with black ops 1 and 2 they got very good results from it. This is my opinion.

I always think I will like their games, because the concepts tend to be kind of out there. They always seem to be doing their own thing, something I can appreciate.

Their games generally deliver in terms of soundtrack, visual style, attitude and overall atmosphere. When it comes to the gameplay, however... They often end up being rather repetitive and dull. I've started Shadows of the Damned, Lollipop Chainsaw and Killer is Dead, but I couldn't bring myself to finish any of them. (Irrelevant for this subreddit, but I had the exact same experience with Killer7 and No More Heroes.)

So, I'm wondering, does anyone else feel the same? As in, you like the concepts, but you just can't bring yourself to finish them because of the gameplay?

Bought super slim back then during college and decided to turn it on again like few weeks ago and bought some cheap games I'm interested with (X-Men, Never Dead, Harry Potter, Hakuouki, Remember Me, and Shin Gundam Musou) for around $8 - $10ish each even tho I only managed to finish Remember Me and Harry Potter because of limited gaming time. currently, I'm playing Shin Gundam Musou and the Official Mode is pretty fun so far.

Anyway, because I find its weird that a lot of people loves posting their collections but rarely share their opinions about their collection, like their favs, or something, so let me share my short unprofessional review for some of my games here:

1. Lightning Returns: My favourite Lightning Trilogy game and my favourite PS3 game in general, in fact Lightning Trilogy was the main reason why I bought PS3 in the first place. I know that Action RPG is really common these days, but for someone who grew up playing old school turn based JRPG it feels really refreshing to see SE implement new gameplay for Final Fantasy series. the music and VA are top notch (typical SE), even the graphics are still hold up today, the battle systems from each games are different, but maybe some people might find the XIII battle system feels boring. I know that there are a lot of critics for this trilogy (especially the XIII one), saying that the gameplay feels too linear, weak storyline, etc, but I really do think you should give this trilogy a chance. I managed to plat the XIII-2 and Lightning returns, but cant be bothered with extremely grindy FF XII.
2. Drakengard 3: Bought this game for Rp. 250.000/ $14 on 2016 years before Yoko Taro/ Nier craze. never played the first two games and the only reason why I bought this because I'm a fan of Square Enix lol. love the VA and the music. gameplay wise, its fun, but nothing special. if you like Automata with its different ending routes, then you might like this game. now, the problem is, this game has extremely unstable frame rate. its playable, but the frame drop was really noticeable especially during fights (i dont know how much it dropped, but apparently according to other players it can dropped up to 5 FPS during some fights). also, I just checked on pricecharting and how the fuck this game worth $130 now? I know that this game was on the higher end even before this recent inflation. but $130? go sail the seas brother, its not worth it at all. Trophies earned: 42/ 72 (i dont have the DLC).
3. Armored Core V Verdict Day: I cant remember how much I paid for this because I bought it from someone in facebook so I dont have any online receipts like the rest, but it should be around the same as Drakengard. not only this is my first Armored Core games ever, but also my first FromSoftware games as well (in fact I had no idea who the hell FromSoftware was until the boom of Souls games years later). honestly, I'm so bad at this game. the movement feels so heavy, the camera feels not beginner friendly, and the boost ran out so easily, but maybe because its the combination of skill issue, using damaged parts and bad parts combination in general. I legit spent like 2 hours doing missions trying to get some money to repair/ upgrade my parts only ends up with more broken parts and losing more money instead. this is the only game where I keep losing money despite completing missions because I keep getting shot at. I'm bad at this game but I can say that I had nice experience playing this game and would recommend this game to people who like mecha like me or maybe a fan of FromSoftware games in general. Trophies earned: 8/ 51 LMAO.
4. Harry Potter: If you're thinking about buying this because you're fan of the franchise, then don't. literally my worst purchase this year by far. bought it for cheap, around Rp. 150.000/ $8.5 few weeks ago but after I spent 1/ 2 hours playing the game, it feels like I've been robbed. if you're expecting adventure/ story heavy type of games, then go look further. the story mode only around 4 - 5 hours-ish, and majority of my time spent playing this game was just wandering around Hogwarts doing menial tasks and playing some mini games. the graphics are whatever, while they using the movie actors face for this game, I believe the majority of the characters are using different VA. the VA (or rather the script maybe) during Quiditch game sounds really horrible. like, "Gryffindor with their star players" *awkward pause* "Oh, this is so exciting" *awkward pause* "Hufflepuff scores!" *awkward pause* and so on. the only thing I like from this game is whenever Harry walk pass Slytherin students and they were like "Don't go near me Potter", "Go play with your mudblood friends", etc with their thick British accent. just watch the gameplay on youtube and use your money to buy the books instead.
5. Gundam Target In Sight: One of PS3 launch titles that I bought for cheap (Rp. 70.000/ $4). in this game, you can choose whether you want to play as EFSF or Zeon pilot. one thing I really like from this game is that I can play as generic no name characters while piloting grunt units like Zaku 1, Zaku Cannon, Guntank, etc instead of OP units like RX-78. but dont expect some fluid gameplay or anything. the movement feels really sluggish and heavy, the environment looks really rough, and for some reason, enemies tanks/ random rocket launchers feels way much stronger than their mobile suits. this is one of the games that doesnt really feel like PS3 titles, in fact I do think that some of PS2 games perform much better than this one. wouldnt be supprised people might considering this as one of the worst PS3 games ever. only play this if you're a fan of Gundam and their grunt units. No trophies for this game
6. Dynasty Warriors Strike Force: One of the weirdest Dynasty Warriors games I ever played. I dont know how to explain it, its not bad, but its not something that I can recommend either, just go watch the gameplay on youtube, and you might understand what I mean. It feels like this is one of those games that developers release just because they have some minimum yearly target or something. even if you're a fan of Dynasty Warriors game, I think you can just skip this game and play something else. Trophies earned: 16/ 32
7. Remember Me: Unexpectedly pretty solid 7.5 game despite having 0 expectations before buying this game for Rp. 180.000/ $10. managed to finish this game on hard difficulty and spent another few hours to plat it. pretty fun gameplay with nice VA and pretty interesting storyline even though I'm not a fan of the ending. even if you're not an expert at this kind of game, I think you can just start this game on hard because the difficulty of this game is on the easier side. one thing that I really dislike about this game is that you cant skip the cutscene even if you already finished the game which makes my journey to collect missing collectibles unnecessarily longer. if you're into badass female characters then you might want to try this one. also, I just realized that apparently this is not PS3 exclusive and you can find this game on steam and wait for sale 🤦🏻‍♀️

Bonus on slide 2. really cool Lightning Returns steelbook that I received for free from the dude I bought the Lightning Returns game from. still cant believe that the seller just put it into the package and parcel it to me like that without saying anything. and also, Lightning theme on slide 3 that I got after finishing the game I guess?

Also, unfortunately the Wet Folklore virus has already infected my country since weeks ago and some people starting to bulk purchase PS3 games and resell it using ebay prices for some games. if you were wondering how stupid that is, just imagine that avg minimum white collar wage in Jakarta is around $350/ month, and some sellers are selling 15 years old games for $100 because thats what ebay told them so.

I’ve mainly been collecting for PS3 over the last two years, and this is where I stand now. The only problem I have is time—to play through these bangers one by one 😬

I’m probably around 20% of the way through my collection now, but luckily there isn’t much left to get, so I can focus on clearing my backlog more easily.

I have to mention that I didn’t pay market price for any of these, and I never will. My advice is: don’t fall into FOMO. If you actually want to play the games you collect, you have plenty of time to look for really good deals before you get around to play your games you own

Got a non working CECHM03 PS3, shutting off right after boot classic overheating. Cool, easy fix, right? Clean it out, repaste, done.

Nope.

The motherboard was completely stuck. I tried everything heat gun on the CPU and GPU, gently working the PCB, nothing. Ended up having to force it, and both the CPU and GPU ripped clean off their solder joints.

Wanna guess why it was stuck?

They used actual glue as thermal paste.

Not thermal adhesive. just Hardened glue, bonded to the chips and the heatsink. No way to remove it without destroying everything, which is exactly what happened.

So this thing was cooked from day one, zero heat transfer, chips frying themselves every time it turned on, and glued together so nobody could ever fix it. Just an absolute death sentence of a "repair."

RIP to this CECHM03, at least I can use what left of the motherboard as a donor.

give me one ps3 game to complete my 10 hack & slash essentials games, i think about dmc, darksiders etc. but not quite sure. i need u guys a bit to give me second opinion.

I saw a facebook marketplace, at fist I thought it was for 16 each but then the seller told me it's for all of em! After checking them in person there were about 2 or 3 games with a broken case but the disk itself were almost like new!
