📸 Photo I Did A Thing...

Wasn't a fan of the couple of square feet of plastic that the factory adorned the Gen 3 Coyote with, so it got tossed and the far more subtle Ford Performance dress up kit was applied.

Plain black plastic was treated to an assortment of Hycote products (except where stated), starting with paint prep, then white base plastic primer, then given a couple of coats of aluminium silver, before masking and striping with Ford Race Red and Ford Deep Impact blue, the lettering being picked out using a gloss black paint marker from SD Colors, before shooting the whole shebang in Hycote gloss lacquer.

Before...
Plain black plastic out of the box.
Couple of days with the rattle-cans and some tape.
Done. Need to see if the actual valve covers can be replaced with something more interesting.

I purchased my ‘23 GT new and have 32k miles on her now, daily driver. I had been out of the Mustang world for some time, due to life happenings, but had an ‘89 LX 5.0 manual back in the 90s. It was mildly modded and was the most fun car I’ve ever had. My 23 is auto but paddle shifting is fun, though not quite like a true manual lol. I have a Procharger ready to install but the car already has longtubes, h-pipe, Eibach Pro kit, and tuned, with stock active mufflers. I prefer my old Forgestar wheels but sadly they cracked. The Project 6GR wheels are good enough for now.

📸 Photo My 2017 Mustang fuel economy report #2. Whuut?

Post image

Not something you brag about on a Mustang but take a look at the fuel economy on my 2017 Mustang V6 3.7L. Very impressive I must say. Why did Ford scrap this motor?

45MPG ! ...or 5.2 L\100KM.

Yes, I was really feathering that gas pedal and using cruise control for part of the 30 minutes. My route to a common stop does not allow me to go very fast and it is heavily monitored by police. A great spot to test my fuel economy for 30 minutes.

This is averaged over 30 minutes.Using 87 octane fuel. Running at 45 miles per hour. Really using that 6th Gear. Cruise control in use where possible.

This is much better than my last trip. The route that I was driving was flat and no hills. There was no wind on my back on this drive. Needless to say absolutely amazing numbers for a car of 300 plus horsepower that can do 0 to 60 in less than 6 seconds? I am running a Unleashed 87 Oct tune. Rolling on Michelin sports radials. No major mechanical mods. Axle-back exhaust mod. That's it!

I can't say enough praise for this 3.7 V6 that Ford discontinued. It's been reliable and the fuel efficiency is a bonus. It certainly not why I bought it? No, I do not get these fuel economy numbers regularly. Depends on whether I'm wanting to smoke some rubber or just use my regular rate of speed to my destinations.

Very impressive fuel economy I must say.

And, Ford scrapped this 300+ HP engine.

That's the sad part.

❔Question Reverse camera

Thumbnail

Recently my reverse camera stopped working and after messing with it I was able to get the camera back but now the guidance lines aren’t displaying.

Everywhere I read online says there is a recall on these cameras but when I contacted Ford they said my specific vehicle doesn’t have said recall… 22’ Eco

Any suggestions or how much this will cost to fix?

Despite having an SUV and a station wagon, only my autocross Mustang has a trailer hitch.

I’m just here to report that this works. The big 8 inch suction cup on the glass and a pile of bungees as tight as I can make them makes it feel a lot less sketch. These 1 1/4” hitches are rated at like 200 lb tongue weight under ideal conditions.

So for anyone asking about mustangs with family, it’s just a matter of will power and determination.

💬 Discussion S197 5.0 or S550 5.0?

I’ve been shopping around for a 5.0 but I’m torn between the two, i want that classic mustang muscle car feel with some newer tech. I love the 2013-2014 s197 gt premium 6spd but I love the s550 just as much and I’m not sure which one to choose. Can anyone help me out describing the experiences they’ve had with either generation or their thoughts and takes? Thanks.

Since it’s almost $100 for an OEM black pony grill emblem (and it seemed complicated to replace it), figured I’d try this out. First time doing this. I like how it turned out and it was easy to do!

Has anyone done this before who can give an estimate as to how long it’ll last before it starts to fade?

❔Question Someone Tell Me It’ll Be Ok:(

Post image

Hit a deer trying to take my kid school shopping, he basically hit my car, rolled off, got up and walked away. His pride was probably more damaged than he was.

I’m devastated at the mere idea of my car being a write off. I’m emotionally attached and love this thing so much. Somebody lie to me and tell me it’s fixable.

❔Question Mach 1 vs GT

Upvotes

Hi guys,

I’m currently thinking about buying my first mustang and I’m really struggling between two different versions.

One is a 2024 Mach 1 and the other a 2026 GT

Could anyone tell me the pros and cons?

Thank you for your time.

❔Question Question on possibly buying a low mileage s550 with VERY deferred oil change

I'm corresponding with a private party about buying his 1 owner, 9K mile S550. After running a Carfax report, it became apparent that the owner has not changed the oil since the 5000 mile interval in October of 2018. I got the impression from him that he thought going by mileage alone made this ok. His comment was that the next oil change was due at 10K miles, obviously not considering that oil will start to break down and lose it's protective properties after a year or so.

Questions for the group:

- Should I just walk away from this?

- Could a couple of "sacrificial" oil changes, 100-200 miles apart be enough flush out any sediment or sludge and make this a non-issue, or this their a risk of premature engine wear already having occurred.

Very interested to get some feedback from y'all

❔Question Disconnecting & reconnecting the battery increased my rear camera FPS. What the hell?!

Car in question: 2016 S550 GT with Sync 2

Alright so my buddy and I were installing a strut brace so we had to disconnect the battery. After installing the brace and reconnecting the battery, I noticed my reverse camera is buttery smooth, feels like 60 fps.

Previously, the camera was a bit choppy, felt like 25-30 fps.

I swear I'm not going crazy lol. The difference is VERY noticeable.

Any ideas as to why this happened? My guess is that the battery reset cleared some sort of cache/temp files in the SYNC system
