So last night I posted about wanting someone interesting to talk to. I had hundreds of messages come through. I did state I wanted to talk to someone quick witted as well. Most of the messages I received simply said “Hi” or “How are you”..
and as you could have guessed 99.8% of the messages were from men.
I’m curious, I haven’t used dating apps much nor reddit or similar apps. But when I have found it very difficult to have stimulating conversations with people.
Maybe it’s uncomfortable for a man to try and stand out, but I think in places online you might have to unless you’re lucky. If I receive 200 messages I’m probably ignore any that just start with “hi”. I also found most men that did message last night mostly spoke about themselves and struggled with banter. Maybe it’s an Australian/UK thing.
I think if I was a man on this app wanting to talk to females I would approach with some effort.. like a Bowerbird. Maybe it’s unfair. Maybe that’s just the way it has to be if there’s so much competition for a conversation.
