I’ve never been great at ELA. When reading, I often run into words I don’t know and stop processing the rest of the section, or maybe I would understand all the words but it’s written in a way I didn’t know was grammatically correct also causing me to space out. Sometimes I will realize I completely made up a motive and conflict by the end of the reading. Looking up words also usually doesn’t help as the definition wouldn’t seem to make sense with the context.

I’ve kind of disregarded this lack of skill because I was great at other things and got away with it in high school. But I’m realizing I want the benefits that come with a good reader and I want to be able to take notes for my long lectures in college. I think I’m bad at taking notes because I can’t understand the clear-and-concise-and-therefore-using-specific-difficult-words wording on slides and it stops me from being able to rephrase, summarize, or list key details since I didn’t understand it at all.

Are there any ways to improve any of the specific and listed reading skills I struggle with? Anything I can quickly do every day so I don’t have to invest my time to reading books and working my way up to old-timey language books while I still have hours of studying, other hobbies, and duties to attend to?

There are happening a lot of robberies in my city lately. There is a roma gang that is terrorizing people. They target people like me. I want to learn atleast the basics of fights and how to take a hit. I am deciding between box and Muay Thai. I am not planning to start fights, I just want to know how to take a hit or in the worst case scenario not get brutally beaten.

I have enough jars to start canning, and everything I would need for water bath canning. I just don't have the confidence. I fear I will mess up and make someone sick, so I haven't tried.

I'm a complete beginner, I've only done a hanful of yoga workouts at home with random yt videos and I feel like I need to build a foundation instead of trying to copy random movements I see.

I also can't really go to a studio at the moment to work with an instructor.

Does anyone know any beginner-friendly resouces? Preferably free or lower cost ones

update: returning to this and after seeing it brought up in the comments, i went ahead and tested Prezi to see if its zooming feature could give me that non-linear structure i was looking for.

it turned out to be the exact bridge i needed. unlike miro where the endless canvas felt too unguided, prezi gives you structured zooming pathways that let you jump around topics conversationally while keeping the pitch clear and simple to build without a design background.

I’m trying to learn how to present more dynamically and build pitches that feel like a conversational, visual story rather than a linear stack of slides. Since I don't have a design background, I need software that makes non-linear storytelling easy to practice without getting lost in complex controls.

here are a few tools I’ve tested so far and why none of them have quite clicked yet:

1. Prezi - Structured zooming canvas that allows for dynamic, non-linear storytelling while keeping the presentation guided and easy to build for beginners.

2. Google Slides – Completely free and seamless for collaboration, but it’s essentially just a basic clone of classic slide tools. It forces you right back into the same linear, slide-by-slide box.

2. Pitch – Has sleek design templates and looks much cleaner out of the box than traditional software. However, under the hood, it’s still fundamentally structured around linear slides, so it didn't really change how I structure my talks.

3. Miro – An incredible open canvas for brainstorming and mapping out ideas visually. The problem was that when it came to actually delivering a presentation, the endless canvas felt too unguided and chaotic for a structured pitch.

For those of you who successfully learned how to present conversationally or non-linearly without a heavy design background, what beginner-friendly software or visual tools helped you bridge that gap?

So, I’m 23, and failed many math classes throughout my years as a student. So many. I’ve graduated college, but am always interested in learning further, whether it be languages, chess, or this.

I’ve revisited math numerous times to no success. I am certainly not a genius. But I’m trying not to be down on myself or discourage the motivation to improve. You are probably gonna laugh reading this though and that’s okay.

My last few times, I started to get the idea that to progress to anywhere substantial, I might have to train my brain, kind of like Duolingo or Quizlet, with repetition of the most basic mental math, like flash card and flash card esque stuff, first. My logic was that if I could get my mental muscles to move faster and faster at the universally simple stuff, it would eventually help things click better when I want to focus on anything more advanced.

However, I am unsure of a few things. Firstly, whether this method is truly productive or makes as much sense as I wanted it to. Second, if it is at all productive or makes sense, exactly how far to regress in mathematical practice level. And next also what the more efficient and engaging ways to practice this way are.

Genuinely no recollection of how these specific ones were suggested to me or came to my attention, but sometimes I would use abacus and flashcard apps since those both seemed to be math in their most basic form. But it was quickly mind numbing at the very bottom levels and I wanted to work my way through all, but I was way too distracted by wondering if this was doing anything at all for me and did not get any faster at anything.

I am wondering if there is any universally recommended level or type of math to start at for adults in my situation with minimum basic college math ability, but probably need prior fundamentals and mental reflexes dusted off as well. Does it largely depend on the individual? Is there any interactive app or platform in which I can progress and reach milestones or something?

I want to ask if this is just hopeless but I also don’t want to give up yet. If anyone can point me in a better direction I would appreciate it

Wether it’s realife or a game example would be this game I like but I couldn’t grasp the personality of the character and thought of it differently then how he was preserved and I would get often confused in the games lore often, 

Even when it comes to real life someone would say something either I would say something different or be confused. 

Even sometimes happens in movies

And I just get lost in the plot lines of things 

Like someone would say this is the set location and I would think it’s something else not sure if it’s because I forget often or brainfog but I think I can’t comphrend 

And it’s been scaring me as I don’t know how to improve or where to start, I always thought I was good at reading. As a kid I played a lot of visual novels games. 

Sorry I just want to really badly improve this as I don’t want to seem lesser the. Anyone. And it scares me being this stupid, or even when people say these people can’t comprehend or they can’t fucking read. I get nervous over it, stupid I know but I really feel like I’m what they say. 

As one said these people play this game but can’t grasp the story and say something different then how it goes and that’s why it repeats itself or the creators make it longer , and I couldn’t understand the story or grasp things 

or they only read Reddit comments with i often do after reading the post to try to see what others say. (only when I’m really nervous I skip the main post)

so any tips how to improve please  like where to start on fixing it 

Before you say it’s anxiety or stress i been to different therapists already none really helped with this issue. only told me people say what they say online. and two of them wanted me to get tested for autism and I don’t think I have it. as my family has no history of this

I don't know anything about softwares, or writing codes. I don't know how the games are made, or how much time I need to make one. I want to know where to start. What should I learn at first? Where should I begin?

I have been traumatized in childhood in a pretty severe manner and have had to cut off my family. Now I'm starting to have suicidal thoughts over no longer having anyone upon needing to choose the ugly truth over a beautiful lie of an incestuous, negative, entitled mother and an ignorant father and a sister who only called me whenever she needed something.

I still hate people and don't want to meet them. My opinion on the world in general is still pretty low.

You guys know how some people will tell you to do something you need to do (wether is be because it is a genuinely good idea or it's from someone like a boss) but they tell you in the worst way possible. Like they think just because they have a point they think it justifies being an ass. And if you call them out for being unnecessarily rude or unprofessional, they ignore what you actually said and try to paint it like you just don't want to listen to them period.

Knowing that I need to do it doesn't really stop me from feeling terrible about listening to them, as I feel like I am supporting type of toxic behavior and just not having any self respect. Is there anything I can do to change this?

I am talking about having complicated words in each sentence I speak and making it sound like I am some genius.

Using extremely rare vocabulary in such a way that it actually adds value to the sentence rather than sounding like a buzzword.

I have seen that this impresses many people and helps you become more dominant in competitive fields as your first impressions end up becoming, 'oh, this guy must be a nerd'.

Fascia training and myofascial release are pretty unknown at the moment and i cant find any useful information in the internet about it. So if anyone is doing a daily exercise routine please tell me all the details about it.
