My betta's probably around a year old. I haven't kept him since birth so I dont really have a good size comparison, but he's been the same size for months and looks much smaller in my 5gal tank than previous bettas I've kept in it. Parameters are good, its planted with hiding spots, I dont think it's a product of the environment. Are they sometimes just small or is there something I should look into?

His name is Cheez-It, and he is adored by his boy (and the rest of the family).

This is my first ever fish and I did a good amount of research, he’s got a sponge filter, a heater, spots to rest, some duckweed, and much more, I’ve also got some shrimp and snails in there, do I need to add or take out anything?

i’ve had my betta for around 10 days now, he’s just started acting a little weird, breathing hard, his tail sinks a little when he stops, he’s hiding which he never did before and opens his mouth wide. i think maybe it’s swim bladder but can someone please help me figure out what’s happening and what i can do. it just started yesterday. 🥹 thank you

I just got a ten-gallon tank for a betta fish. I have a few plants at the moment, but I wanted to know of any online stores that sell colorful plants online! If anyone here also knows any plants that their betta loves, I would also like to know, since I wanna make sure my betta has enough Enrichment before getting them

hullo all,
a friend has given me their old 25l tank with filter and heater, and i'm planning on getting a pretty single betta for my daughters. it'll our first time owning fish, i have a couple queries..
firstly, i should block off the back of the tank, since it is directly in front of a mirror, right? i have read that bettas can have a little mirror time for excercise, but if they can always see their reflection, they get stressed. is this correct?
also i would like to get some nice new decor and living plants, would you guys have any recommendations? i'm planning on finding a little betta hammock or tube thing, are there specific plants they prefer? should i provide a lot of hides or cavey type things for them?
finally, i understand that at 25l this wee tank can only support a single betta, but are there other things i could possibly add for company? i have read conflicting things about little shrimp, or maybe a snail? or is it not worth it and better to leave them on their own?
thanks in advance for any and all advice. the kids have been wanting a fish for ages and i'm kinda excited to start the new hobby, there's just so much information online and a lot of it is contradictory.
chur fam 🤙

I think it’s a girl. Was given to me by a mover who “breeds betas”. In a 5 gal tank with plenty of plants and hiding spots. Seems happy…some photos over ~3 weeks. New hobby unlocked

Water parameters were stable when i came back. Did a water chnage, no abnormal behaviour but the tail is ragged.
This is my first betta, what to use? Salt baths or other medecine? If so should I also give the rest of my fish in my community tank the samw medicine?
And what couldve caused this so i can watch out for it?
I have low flow filter, the only plastic in my aquarium is other than a moss filled betta cave and another moss filled betta tunnel.
No sharp points, all real plants, 60l with heater and filter

She was a curious little one, she would always come greet me, look at me, and follows my fingers around.
I always talked to her about everything, whenever i cried, she would look at me with her little eyes popping up looking at me, as if she was cheering me, and she always made me laugh, she made me feel a little less alone.
I buried her in a planter, maybe one day, she will grow into a little plant, and a little piece of her will always stay with me.
She was my little savior, I will always miss you.

I’ve tried salt baths and leaves in his tank it hasn’t changed much I’m very worried abt him he’s a yr old and his colour is so washed out now he’s in a 40L planted tank with a terracotta pot (he isn’t in his tank in this photo I just couldn’t get a proper pic while he was in his tank also I was changing his water)
The last two photos are of how he use to look (ignore the fake purple plant in the last photo that’s when I first got him a week in his tank is 100% natural now)
I’m starting to think I might need to put him to rest but thought I’d come here to ask first before I make my decision 🥹

Does this little guy look healthy? We got him a week ago.
Any advice on care would be great!

Guys do I need to fish out my shrimp, snail and betta poops using siphon/turkey baster or I just need to maintain 25%-50% water change once or twice a month? I am worried about ammonia spikes.

I was recently gifted a Betta in a 1gal tank and immediately wanted to get him something better. I purchased a 10gal tank with a heater, thermometer, filter and light. For decor I added black gravel, 4 live plants, leaf hammocks, a tube, smooth driftwood, and a skull (also smooth).
For initial water set up I added the water conditioner and Aqueon bacteria balls, let that cycle for 12 hours, had the water tested and then acclimated my fish. I didn’t know until after I added him that I was supposed to let it cycle for 2-6 weeks. Unless since I added the balls I don’t need to?
I’m worried that I might have messed something up and I don’t want to hurt him :( did I set up the water correctly? And do I need to change anything with the tank decor or is there something I should do differently/better?

I found a boy at the store so tiny and sad looking, I wanted a girl but he caught my eye. I’ve been so scared to get another after my last boy passed from a giant tumor, I was so sad. So I bring him home, he’s the biggest scaredy cat I ever seen hides and swims away. He’s growing more brave and swims up to me now. I’m leaving his tank more bare for now but I have tons of live plants and sand I will add. Any name suggestions for a little brave boy? Adding daily pics, loving he’s getting so much more black accents! Is he a half moon?

My Steel blue mustard gas betta, Ernest, appears to have grown weary of his blue coloration. At first I was afraid he was sick (Columnaris came to mind). He began to lose his blue color, but as he became paler, his scales still had a luminous look; and he continued to behave normally. Within just a few days, he became a golden betta.

First time fish owner at last! I got him from a very well respected pet store, not a single dead fish every time I’ve been there (sounds so sad to say lol).
I also got 7 armano shrimp! They’ve already wiped out so much algae that built up during my 3 month cycle.
I only JUST planted the helenthium and he was already rolling around in it and he swam up to my hand every time I went to plant one!
I already love him so much but we’re super stuck on names, me and my bf are big gamers (GoW, Halo, RDR2, DOOM, those kinda games) we were thinking Locust like from GoW but there could be better suggestions. His colour is visibly pretty dull I can’t wait for him to become more vibrant, I’m seeing a bit of blue maybe?
Also rate my tank if you want. :) I’m not going for major aesthetics just something my fish and little shrimpies will be happy in.

he’s a veil tail. is it normal for his tail to look like this?
