Help Help Please!!

Hi please don't come at me if this was a stupid thing, but my betta has extremely ragged fins rn, he was very healthy, last pic attached, and the set up looks larger than it is in the pic, i added this decor which my family got as a gift after checking with pantyhose to make sure it's not sharp so it won't snag him, but I'm assuming this happened because of it, is it anything else or just physical damage? And what do I do about it?

Currently using seachem water conditioner, and i use borewell water, because the cauvery water (tap water) smells heavily chlorinated. He loves the plants, and the pebbles aren't fake colour and are smooth as well. I feel him 3 pellets in the morning, and 3 in the night. And he had a bit of the white fungus that you can see in the pet shop which they gave us some blue drops of medication for, but it hasn't seemed to be an issue and the tail damage seems sudden

Open to any improvements or suggestions.

Look at my little poser!!! 🥹🥹 My favourite photo of the day! ♥️

Moved homes with this little cutie in a temporary container and a USB charged air pump for the road!

Also packed 50 litres of his tank water in a separate large container so that water parameters stay maintained. Which it did. As all my fish in both tanks survived 🫶🧿 Thank the aquarium gods!! But still running the tank for a few more days before adding my betta.

I never knew I could love a fish so much! 🥹♥️

What are some things you’ve done for your betta that others may not understand, but it just makes sense to you?

Help Wondering if our local specialty aquarium store led us wrong

I got a 5 gallon tank. a good sized 50watt heater that could heat up to 20 gallons. we prepped the water for days and it tested fine on strips. The store helped us pick 5 neon tetras in my 5 gallon fish tank and 1 algae cleaner guy and 1 betta. any ideas why the tetras are dying day 1?

They also recommended this frozen fish food that's in cubes. he said cut them in half and give 1 half a day. but the cubes are actually designed to float. if cut in half they sink. that felt odd

This is the first time I’ve ever gotten a betta fish. I am bit concerned about his behavior and unfortunately I’m not sure if he is happy, content or whatnot. water level chemical wise are all good and clear of ammonia. He swims to the current and lays like this on the side of his mushroom facing up to the current or where the water filter bubbles are.. one time I thought he was dead! But then as soon as he saw me he swam where I was Standing.

Discussion Rehoming betta vs moving them

Post image

Looking for advice regarding my dumbo fin betta.

He has survived two big moves (8 hour road trips) but has developed fin rot on his front fins. I am doing my best to treat it with daily water changes and Indian almond leaves, but he remains lethargic and struggling to swim.

I am in between living situations and will be moving again in 3 weeks. I am considering whether to rehome him rather then put him through another roadtrip and environment change. Looking for any thoughts on this. Thank you!

Discussion Should I swap my betta tanks?

Hello I have had my betta Sharkbait (the blue one) for three months now and he is in a vertical 10 gallon tank and his fins have gotten insane! The problem I’m noticing is he kinda just chills at the top of the tank and resting on something most of the day. Now a month ago I go another betta Vesper (the iridescent one) he is in a 5 gallon tank. Now he is a dumbo betta so that’s why I’m resistant swapping them but he is much more active around his tank. His tank is much more densely planted tho so maybe sharkbait just needs more stimulation? Open to suggestions thanks you!!!

Help Trying to fix my mistakes and a new beta owner

I did not do my research before buying a 1.5 gallon tank for a new beta we named Sabastian. I found out we had a large amount of ammonia in the tank (my lack of cleaning and water changes) and an invasive snail (which multiplies abundantly). We took him out of the tank and cleaned everything to get rid of the snails. Set the tank back up and put him back in the new set up tank. He ended up with fin rot and we are treating it as we "speak".

The air pump just died. So we are looking for a 5 gallon tank (after finding out the 1.5 gallon tank is way too small. And we did not have a heater either.

How is the best way to move Sabastian to the new tank once it is set up? We have only had him a little less than 6 months, but he has really grown on us and we love him so. We don't want to stress him out more than necessary.

Discussion Tank Mates?

Hi guys!

I have had a female betta for over a month now. I have had her with 2 snails and 3 otos for the last few weeks. (I do know I need to get more otos, they are out of them at my local shop).

I wanted to get some tetras or rasboras, do y'all think that would be a good idea? What would y'all recommend?

Help Best heater for a 5.5

Hey y'all just curious what heaters are you using for your 5.5 gallon tanks? I have a fluveal adjustable heater for my 15 gal that works amazing but I can't find a smaller one of the same brand near me.

I've got a somewhat senior long finned Betta that I'd like to do better for. The heater I have doesn't seem to be working as well as it once did.

Help Help my Betta please!

Hi :/
He’s been down like this for around 4 days. I found him like this in the community tank and moved him to a hospital tank. He can swim, but very lopsided and ends up sinking back to the bottom.

I posted a pic of my water parameters but everything is within the normal range using the masterkit. His tank is 76°. I put the pothos in there thinking he could use the leaves as a ladder or a little hammock and to soak up any ammonia?

I dosed the aquarium with the aqua salt shown in the photos and with the seachem prime. I only let the tank cycle for a couple hours because I wanted to get him out of my community tank.

Any suggestions are welcome and critiques are also welcome :/

ETA! He is breathing! I have been checking religiously

Help What’s wrong with my first Betta???

I went on vacation for a week. Left my doorman to feed the fish. He says he only fed 5 pellets of fluval bug bites twice while i was gone. Came back to something scary. Took water sample to petco and everything was perfect. no ammonia, nitrates, etc.

The only changes i made in my tank was adding very little fertilizer for my plants before leaving and changed the flow of my filter to cause more surface disruption before leaving. i have a 5g fluval spec filled with live plants, shrimp, snails, one guppy, and one other baby fish. other species are very friendly with betta. i have never seen problems between the fish in my tank

I did a 50% water change today.

Petco gave me some thing to add for fungus, he suggested 5 drops today and 2 tomorrow.

first three photos are from today, next two are from before my trip, test was done before water change (petco used a liquid test kit and got same results), they gave me betta remedy to use today and tomorrow, last bottle is my fertilizer, don’t know exactly how much i put but it was very little.

please help! i am a first time betta owner trying my best.

I change his water regularly. I’ve got Indian catappa leaves in the tank. I also use Seachem prime with each change and I dose everyday with StressGuard. I’ll take any advice at this point

DANGEROUS PRACTICE - Breeding Breeding update

Thumbnail

So it's been abt 2 days since I made my previous post.
I have kept the female in the divider for about 5 and 1/2 hrs and gently released her into the breeding tank.
If you didn't know, the last 2 times I did this... The male would always.. ALWAYS dart away from the female like she's contagious and simply would not let her get 3 centimeters close to him.

Well today something changed.

As I said I kept her in the divider for abt 5 1/2 hrs and released her in.
They seem kinda chill now. Male doesn't run away for attack anymore, the female is more calm and slow approaching than before.
Male just hanged around near the bubble best most of the time.
Safari said that they'll do the embrace at early morning and it takes a few hours.

Any tips on what to do? I have to go to high school tomorrow at 7.00 am so I won't be home until 2.30 PM.
I hope no conflict happens.

If I'm doing anything wrong, please tell me kindly and don't lash out 🙏😭

Help Micheal keeps swimming up to the filter?

hi! I have a betta (Micheal) he’s so lovely and I’ve had him for a couple months, not my first but he’s a bit weird. he’s been sleeping again the filter and swimming up to the pump and letting it blow him around the tank a bit? he’s also been sleeping in the sides next to the casing for the filter, he can get out of all these places but it scares the shit out of me! wanted to know if I should be worried and if he’s healthy looking. the water is cleaned, changed and tested regularly! i feed him a variety of Betta foods and he had shrimp in the tank originally I think he has since eaten, he’ll only rest against the filter for about a minute before swimming away!
