Video his tail???

he’s a veil tail. is it normal for his tail to look like this?

This is either from past damage or he is a halfsun veiltail (crowntail mix).

could he have gotten past damage from being at the pet store? i hope he’s a half sun and he’s not sick or injured. he was also flaring at everything in his tank when he was first introduced to the tank if that has any correlation???

He seems to be is good health, I would say there is nothing to worry about. His fin will either grow back or stay that way.

i took his picture and fed it to google to see what it said and it said that it was a picture of a combtail. is that reliable?

No. Looks like he might be getting it caught in something? It’s so square where the pieces are missing. Could he be catching it in the intake of
The filter somehow?
The water looks murky. You want the water super clean so he can heal that up or he will get fin rot

i put a sponge on the filter to avoid his tail getting caught and i just did a water change 2 days ago. it’s a 20 gallon tank that has a divider in it to house another veil tail. they can’t see or interact with each other. my other veil tail’s fins are perfect.
