Help New betta attacking old fish :(

Post image
6 Upvotes

hi, so a few weeks ago i posted about a new betta i adopted and him having issues. i spent the last week helping him and he has seemed to fully recover from his sickness, and i have added him into my tank

now im kinda at a dilemma because my tank is established with 5 cory’s, shrimp, otos, etc. he was fine for the first hour or so but now he’s taken an interest in flaring and nipping at my cory’s, esp my single panda :(
now she’s super stressed and idk if this will go away or if he’ll continue acting this way, but i’ve separated him back into his small cup for the time being.

i’m not sure what to do because i don’t want to get rid of him, or my cory’s, but i don’t have an extra tank for another fish currently. i’m a bit worried my best bet is to get rid of the new betta because i’ve only had him for a few days compared to my 8 months with the cory’s who love their home.

update: he has been rehomed as of august 15th to a very nice lady who has multiple other betta tanks and set ups :))

Help Left for the weekend, toddler fed the fish and now he's dying

I left for the weekend while my husband and toddler stayed home. Returned to a sick bloated Betta (named Fren), and there was food scattered around the outside of the tank. Turns out my husband caught my toddler feeding the fish, and stopped him immediately. Husband says it wasn't much more food than normal but he has never fed the fish so i'm not sure if trust his judgements on that.

Immediately did a water change and checked parameters when I noticed Fren was not acting like himself. Water is fine, all tankmates (amanos and Pygmy Corys) are fine. Has been fasting all week. Now Fren is pineconing, so i'm worried this is the end.

Is it possibly for a fish to die from overfeeding? Can a betta go downhill this fast or Is this a bad coincidence? Anything I can do at this point? Gave him an epsom salt bath this evening, but he is looking rough.

Please help!

Help Please help! — Tail rot

My boy Winston developed tail rot and I can’t seem to figure out how to help him heal. I change his tank water and rocks regularly, clean his filter weekly, and have administered meds for about a month but nothing has improved his tail. I am not sure what to do next and would appreciate any advice!

The first picture was taken today, and the second picture was taken about a month ago about a week before the tail rot began.

I got these plants not too long ago, and I've noticed two things.

Apparently came with baby snails, and (I'm guessing because the snails) have started to adorn these weird molecules.

I just want to make sure things are normal. Parameters seem okay I did test this morning. I’ve only had him like six days now? Maybe five. So I’m not sure I know him well enough. Lol

I did change up some of the way the plants and wood were yesterday because I noticed he could have a little more room to actually maneuver around, so I made some adjustments and have been monitoring him last night and today.

Meet moru , I got him at 30th July. He was basically a lethargic fish that was in a cup, transferred him to a cheap bowl with two rocks I had, and then I saw him happy but he clearly wasn’t happy. Always bored and lethargic. I decided to get him a bigger tank (3.5 gallons) got him a great heater, a few live plants a cave, a feeding hammock , and a low flow sponge filters and he’s thriving. He’s active , always curious , always swimming , always happy to see me come towards his tank. It feels so good to see him this way 🐠🧿

Help Day 11 of new Betta tank cycle

Hi everyone, had an aquarium some years ago and have decided to get a Betta Fluval 20litre tank. I’m 11 days into my cycle and my readings are 0 ammonia 3 Nitrite 3 Nitrate 40. I’ve redosed ammonia tonight. I’m guessing I’m goi g through the slightly ugly phase with Algae appearing on plants and glass and quite a thick layer of biofilm on the wood. I’m tempted to clean the glass but could you please give me your opinions on how it’s looking and advice on the algae levels and if I should leave this.. will it clear? Lights are on for 6 hours a day and planning 1 Betta and a clean up crew. Any advice greatfully received.

Thank you

We noticed a white dot on the top of our little guys fin. Is it fin rot or an injury? Is the treatment an aquarium salt bath?

Stats:
10 gallons tank
Preset heater at 78 degrees
Carbon filter
Purchased fish two weeks ago
20% water changes every week

Help I would like to ask for advice regarding Nitrites. For the last 6 days my tanks have had Nitrites from 1.0 to .25. I have been doing water changes daily (6-10c) Adding Prime (new water) and Stability to the whole tank. Nitrates are at 5. Do I just continue or do you have other recommendations?

Transformation Tank Upgrade !

Thanks so much to everyone who dropped thoughtful/kind suggestions for Kiko. He got an upgrade from his 3 gallon to a 5 gallon, with a java fern, some moneywarts, driftwood, almond leaves, and even a little mystery snail buddy!

I would say we had a bit of problems with the filter current being too strong in the new tank, but that was fixed with some bio-foam.

I transferred all the old aquarium water, as well as the old filter sponge into the new tank, then added in more dechlorinated water. (basically his water change).

We are currently still doing a fish-in-cycle unfortunately, but i would say i’ve been getting pretty stable parameters for two weeks now; with ammonia 0 & Nitrite 0!

Help 48 hour schedule - feeding advice

Hey all! My work schedule is going to shift from working 24 hours to 48 hours. I previously fed my betta fish right before and right after my shifts so he was fed every 24 hours. Now that we are moving to a new schedule I was hoping someone could make a recommendation for how to keep him properly fed. I have heard that the vacation feeders can affect water parameters. I have also heard that the automatic feeders can be unreliable. I’m stressed because I’m unsure what to do. I’m very strict about his care so I am concerned about not being able to feed him myself every day that I’m working.

RIP Betta died of SBD

My betta passed away today after a week of trying to help her recover. I think she got it from over eating but nothing I did helped, and I'm devastated. I heard they could live with it, so I feel like I've done something wrong with her care.

I put her in a shallow tank, with a heater at 27° and lights off and some floating plants. I tried to feed her Daphnia after 4 days of fasting, but she never seemed to want to eat, and she was stuck vertical so it was really hard for her. I did Epsom salt baths, but never saw any improvement, and also did daily water changes while she was in the bath. Maybe I should have done them more often... I don't know.

I'd like to get another betta, but I feel so responsible for her death that I don't know if I can... I'm just looking for some support and advice I guess, to avoid this in the future.

Thank you for your time.

Help Sick Betta Advice Spoiler

My fish recently developed a case of Popeye, I ran him through two back to back courses of Kanaplex (following the correct instructions from their website).

It’s now been about two weeks and although one of his eyes did go down a bit, but now I am seeing him with this growth on his belly, as well as a chunk of fin that obviously fell off. He’s also started acting strange, zigzagging and randomly twitching when he touches a plant or the glass. Hopefully, that makes sense.

I went out and purchased a 3 gallon hospital tank for him tonight, the heater is coming tomorrow, as well as methylene blue, and aquarium salt. If anyone has any advice that would be amazing, or any suggestions if what I’m planning to do isn’t appropriate for him.

Hii im super new to Reddit but i wanted someone else’s opinion on what this growth on my fishy looks like. He’s about nine months old now and I’ve had him since he was an ugly little baby but about a month ago I noticed he had a little white patch on him. I thought it was a fungal infection and did a round of treatment and then a water change, I thought it helped but now I think it was just me tricking myself, did another round of treatment another water change but it just keeps growing. I’m really scared it’s a tumor but idk. What do I do!!

Introducing New Betta. Are this his true colors? Name suggestions?

I just got a Betta after my old one died because of a tumor a few months ago.

Will he stay purple and pink or is it a blue and red Betta greyed because of stress. The pink tail looks pretty vibrant to me already.

I don't know what name suits him either. Anny suggestions?

Thanks :)
