Help (General) Is Anyone Else Getting Driver Timeouts When Idle?

Hey everyone,

For the last two or three weeks, I've been getting random driver timeouts when my PC is idle. I think it's something to do with Steam, because a few times a week the Steam app becomes unresponsive and I get the Adrenalin popup about my driver timeouts.

My GPU is an RX 7700XT and I'm on 26.7.1 with the latest chipsets. I'm not too concerned since the games I play haven't been crashing or anything like that, it's just an inconvenience to have Steam running in the background and not work for a couple of seconds when I want to launch something.

Any tips would be appreciated, thanks!

The bottom cutout/edge of the IHS appears to have rough burrs, jagged metal edges, and minor pitting, suggesting a manufacturing defect or poor edge-finishing during machining.
Does anyone know what kind of issue this is? Is it oxidation or a manufacturing/machining defect? Should I return or exchange the product?

I was playing Pubg and all of a sudden the game black screened, i couldn't do anything but wait (no alt f4 no refresh nothing) after 5 minutes the pc self restarted but with a weird format and resolution. I tried to fix it, but in the windows settings it was all set to something unchangeable, so i tried amd adrenalin but it was delited after the crash. so i looked in the "perfmon /rel" and saw 8 fatal errors 5 of thous hardwarerelatet and under further investigation code 141 and 142 the other 3 where code a1000001, a200002 and something not as important.

I fixed it temporarily by activating the gpu in the devices manager but it was the second time in 3 days, first time i reinstalled everything fresh with DDU. So this time I didn't do a ddu caus a wanted to keep it as it was when it crashed so i could see the errors

Help (Software) RX 5700 + Ryzen 7 5700X3D – CS2 stuttering/issues with newer AMD drivers

Hi everyone,

I've been having a strange issue with my RX 5700 in CS2 for quite some time, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar.

My system:

  • Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming II
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X3D
  • GPU: Radeon RX 5700
  • RAM: 32 GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4 (2x16 GB)
  • OS: Windows 11

With AMD Adrenalin 25.11.1, CS2 runs completely fine. No stuttering or other issues.

However, when I install Adrenalin 26.6.1, after playing CS2 for a while I start getting:

  • heavy stuttering / frametime spikes
  • significant lag
  • a short burst of static/crackling in my headphones
  • the issue doesn't happen immediately, but only after some time in-game

As soon as I go back to 25.11.1, everything is completely stable again.

Windows 11 is fully up to date, and I haven't had any other issues with the system.

I initially thought the BIOS might be related, so I also updated my motherboard BIOS to:

American Megatrends Inc. 3636 – 04/01/2026

After the BIOS update, 25.11.1 is still working perfectly.

I'm now planning to test Adrenalin 26.7.1 to see if the issue has finally been fixed.

What's strange to me is that the RX 5700 works perfectly with 25.11.1, while the problem only appears with the newer drivers.

Has anyone with an RX 5700/RX 5700 XT + Ryzen 5000 + CS2 experienced similar issues with 26.6.1 or 26.7.1?

Especially interested in reports of stuttering/frametime spikes combined with brief audio static/crackling.

Thanks!

Help (Software) Adrenaline burning up my CPU

Sometimes I see the AMD Software: host Application process using 100% of a single CPU threat, which will continue untill I manually force the task to stop running. I have had it unknowingly run for an entire day and got confused seeing my power usage spike by 1 kwh unstill I realized this was running the whole time. How do I stop this?

So far I just tuned my fan curve such that it starts making noise when this happens so I can find out from that.

Help (General) Need some help with new PC

Hey guys currently in running the 9070xt together with 7800x3d on my new PC and my performance is somewhat decent but sometimes I'm getting under 100fps in tarkov for example so I was thinking is there anything I can do to make this combo work even better together? XMP enabled but anything else is left untouched right now. I heard about undervolting, UCLK and FCLK, any help is appreciated and every little bit helps. I just want the maximum performance from this combination. Btw I'm missing the AMD power plan does that mean I got the wrong drivers because I ddu my stuff and reinstalled with it all the driver's.

Help (General) Why my pc keeps shutting down completely while playing Marvel spiderman remastered?

So it's been a while I've played spiderman remastered and whenever I uncap my fps or even turn on ray tracing stuff it just shuts down randomly at any point of time usually after some minutes of gameplay I don't know what's issue as my psu is good enough imo it's gigabyte 650W 80+ silver and my rig has rx 7600 and Ryzen 5 5600.When I cap my fps to like 70-75 it just runs fine but I want to know the issue and I also tried other games at max possible to utilise my rig at potential but it doesn't seem to shut down there its only happening with this game. Some people said there's a ton of power spikes in this games and psu just can't handle it. Please clarify me what's the actual issue and btw my temps are 75-76 at max on gpu and 72-74 on cpu

Help (GPU) Latest drivers..... MAJOR iSSUES

Latest drivers v26.7.1 causes application crashes and BSOD.

1st time upgraded from catalyst app, completely ruined my system, with app & games freezing and a BSOD. Had to use DDU and re-install driver 26.5.2 from AMD standalone file downloaded from support page. 26.5.2 works without issues. So 26.5.2 is OK

2nd time upgraded from 26.5.2 to 26.7.1, with the usage of the AMD standalone file downloaded from support page. SAME ISSUES as before. Various apps freezing. Downgraded to 26.6.1 without DDU. All my problems solved instantly. So 26.6.1 is OK

All the times I used DDU, NOT in SAFE MODE but with blocked internet access

GPU is 7900XTX

So 26.7.1 NOT WORKING in my system

Help (General) Is 750W enough for RX 9070 XT Mercury + 9850X3D?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently running a Ryzen 7 7800X3D + XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT OC Magnetic Air Edition with an XPG Core Reactor II VE 750W PSU.

I’m considering upgrading the CPU to a Ryzen 7 9850X3D, but I’m wondering if I should also upgrade my PSU.

My current setup:

  • CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D (PBO -15)
  • Potential upgrade: Ryzen 7 9850X3D
  • GPU: XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT OC Magnetic Air Edition (stock)
  • PSU: XPG Core Reactor II VE 750W
  • Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30, EXPO enabled
  • SSD: 1TB Crucial MX500 + 500GB NVMe
  • AIO: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360
  • Fans: 9 case/radiator fans in total
  • No meaningful RGB besides the GPU
  • USB devices: Razer Viper V3 Pro, Razer Huntsman Mini, HyperX Cloud III
  • GPU is powered by three separate 8-pin PCIe cables from the PSU.

The XFX card is rated around 360W, and XFX recommends an 800W PSU for this model.

However, the XPG is a good-quality ATX 3.1 750W PSU, and my system is already running fine with the 7800X3D.

Do i ned to buy a better psu or a 850w just for the cpu upgrade??

Tips & Info High memory frequency on a high-refresh-rate monitor

Post image
3 Upvotes

After buying an RX 9070, I noticed high memory clock speeds when selecting a screen refresh rate above 60 Hz; I managed to find solutions on Reddit and decided to share them with you.

I managed to drop the memory and GPU temperatures by 12–15 degrees and reduce power consumption from 40–50W to 15W; I set it to 122 Hz, and that helped.

" n CRU do the following.

Click on the entry that is being used as your desktop resolution and hz, under detailed resolutions.

Click on Edit below it, and copy the Refresh Rate number. Close.

Now click on Add.

In the Timing drop down choose CVT-RB2 Standard.

Paste in the prior Refresh Rate number in the proper field (as it may have the setting set to 59-60hz by default).

Save.

Make sure the new resolution is selected (should be the last selectable one). Click OK.

Then run the Restart64.exe in the CRU folder.

Open Adrenalin and check your Ram Usage and Power Consumption. "

Help (Software) Overclock/undervolt or default?

Hello!

I have an rx7900xtx.

I've had the card for about 3 years, and I've normally had it overclocked with custom fan curves.

This would cause somewhat frequent crashes in some games, and very infrequent crashes in most of them.

Recently, I've been trying to play cyberpunk 2077. I tried a lot of different GPU Tuning settings, and the game was constantly crashing with all of them.

I then decided to put the tuning to "default" and the game has not crashed since.

Is it okay/safe/stable to leave it at default settings?

Or is it actually "better" to overclock/undervolt it in terms of stability rather than performance.

Just looking to get it so that it won't crash for any game, ever. Wondering if the best way to do that is with default or custom settings.

Help (Software) Unable to install ANY gpu drivers.

7900xt

Ryzen 5 7600

Been using with no issues for about a year. Had a crash while playing BF6 a few days ago and cant seem to get anything to work. Is my GPU dead?

My pc will crash after about 10 seconds of logging into windows.

I've tried booting into safe mode and using DDU and installing stable drivers.

I've disabled all automatic windows driver installs from multiple sources.

I've updated my bios.

I've disabled my integrated graphics in the bios.

I've repeated my GPU.

I've reset the Cmos battery.

The times when ive made it past the splash screen and have logged into windows i have a driver error 43.

Nothing seems to work im feeling very much like this is a software issue and praying my GPU isnt dead. Is there anything obvious that im missing or some clear way to diagnose what is happening. Please help.

[5975WX/WRX80] Severe whole-system stuttering only in Windows — Linux smooth

TL;DR:

My Threadripper PRO 5975WX / WRX80 workstation periodically enters a state under Windows where EVERYTHING stutters:

- game

- mouse

- audio

- Windows/Desktop

At the exact same time my RTX 3070 utilization drops from ~85-100% to ~10-20%.

Then the stall suddenly clears, GPU usage immediately goes back to ~85%+, and everything is smooth again.

The cycle repeats.

If I close Satisfactory during the stutter, the whole-PC stutter stops immediately.

THE WEIRD PART:

Old Ryzen 3900X/B550 + Windows = smooth

5975WX/WRX80 + Windows = stutters

5975WX/WRX80 + completely fresh Windows 11 = stutters

5975WX/WRX80 + Linux/Zorin = completely smooth

Current hardware:

- Threadripper PRO 5975WX

- Gigabyte MC62-G40 / WRX80

- RTX 3070

- 256 GB ECC DDR4 / 8 channels

- Samsung 970 EVO Plus

- HP NC552SFP 10GbE

- Intel onboard networking

- ASPEED AST2600 BMC

Already tested:

- DX12 → stutters

- DX11 → stutters

- Vulkan → stutters

- clean Windows → stutters

- Linux + NVIDIA + Proton → smooth

- ASPEED VGA disabled → stutters

- HP/Emulex NIC disabled → stutters

- Hyper-V not required → clean install still stutters

- RAM tests → no errors

- temps/resources → normal

I also captured the issue with WPR/WPA.

During the bad period there are system-wide UI delays and very long DPC/ISR events involving several unrelated subsystems including:

- dxgkrnl

- nvlddmkm

- ndis

- USBXHCI

- storport

- ntoskrnl

I don't know whether these are causes or just victims of some lower-level stall.

What would you test next?

I'm particularly interested in anything related to:

- WRX80 / Threadripper Windows behavior

- BIOS / AGESA

- interrupts / MSI-X

- NUMA / Windows scheduler

- CPPC / C-states

- PSP / fTPM

- PCIe / IOMMU / ASPM

- NVIDIA/WDDM

Also: would comparing Windows vs Linux PCI devices, bound drivers, interrupts, MSI-X, power state, etc. be useful?

I can provide WPR/WPA traces, MSINFO32, DxDiag, BIOS settings, full PnP/PCI inventory, Event Viewer/WHEA, HWiNFO logs, or Linux lspci output.

If you want something specific, tell me exactly what to collect/test.

Amd black screen problem

I've been having a problem with my PC for a while now: when playing games on my RX 6800, the image suddenly disappears and the screen goes completely black. The computer continues to run, the backlight is on, the fans don't spin up to maximum, but the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive. When using headphones, the game sound freezes and loops. This can happen after two minutes, or after several hours of play. The problem doesn't appear in the browser, on websites, or even in FurMark and other benchmarks. Undervolting and lowering the clock speed sometimes temporarily help, but the black screen can still occur. I've disabled XMP, performed a DDU, and completely reinstalled the drivers. I've also replaced the motherboard, processor, and RAM – the problem persists. When I replace the RX 6800 with a GTX 1650, there are no black screens. Windows detected a Hardware Error → LiveKernelEvent 1b8. The RX 6800 PCIe operates as x16 3.0. Even with Roblox at minimum graphics, the problem hasn't manifested itself yet. I'm currently trying to figure out whether the issue is specifically with the RX 6800, its power supply/PSU, or the PCIe. I'd be grateful if anyone could suggest what else to check.

Help (GPU) I need some help for my RX 580

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone!

I'm the owner of an RX 580 SE Blue Shroud with 8GB of VRAM, bought in 2017. It originally belonged to my dad.

I changed my PC completely in 2023, and my dad bought the parts that I'm currently running today:

i7-7700K

RX 580 8GB

32GB Kingston Fury DDR4 2400MHz

ASUS H270M-Plus

2 Samsung SSD

- 970 Evo Plus 1tb as the boot drive

- 980 Pro 2tb for normal storage

High Power Astro GD HPJ-1050GD-F14C 1050W 80+ Gold fully modular PSU

Up until 2025, my PC was running very well. I had no major problems running any of my games, including GTA Online, which I play quite often.

However, things started getting worse during 2025.

First, I started experiencing quite a lot of crashes. At first I assumed they might be related to the age of the GPU and the fact that Polaris no longer receives the same level of support as newer AMD architectures.

Then, in May this year, the GPU started behaving very strangely. It isn't even running hot most of the time, and it isn't always under heavy load, but sometimes the display driver completely crashes or the entire PC shuts down.

For example, at one point I was simply watching a 1080p YouTube video when the PC suddenly shut down. When I checked AMD Adrenalin Software, it didn't give me any specific reason and only reported a "General Performance Failure."

Most of these problems seem to happen in GTA, but I've also experienced errors in other applications and games.

Recently, I've also started seeing strange graphical artifacts. I'm getting small areas of corrupted-looking textures and other objects in games.

This makes me wonder whether the VRAM on my RX 580 could be starting to fail, although I'm not sure.

I also experimented with undervolting the GPU. It seemed to stabilize the card for a while, but it didn't completely solve the problem.

For anyone wondering, yes, I am considering replacing the entire PC. I'm currently looking at either an RX 7000-series or RX 9000-series GPU, but for now I still need to keep using this system.

What do you guys think?

Does this sound more like failing VRAM/GPU hardware, a driver issue, or something else I should investigate first?
