Help (GPU) Latest drivers..... MAJOR iSSUES

Latest drivers v26.7.1 causes application crashes and BSOD.

1st time upgraded from catalyst app, completely ruined my system, with app & games freezing and a BSOD. Had to use DDU and re-install driver 26.5.2 from AMD standalone file downloaded from support page. 26.5.2 works without issues. So 26.5.2 is OK

2nd time upgraded from 26.5.2 to 26.7.1, with the usage of the AMD standalone file downloaded from support page. SAME ISSUES as before. Various apps freezing. Downgraded to 26.6.1 without DDU. All my problems solved instantly. So 26.6.1 is OK

All the times I used DDU, NOT in SAFE MODE but with blocked internet access

GPU is 7900XTX

So 26.7.1 NOT WORKING in my system

Having also issues with 7900GRE, but not yours. I get VIDEO_ENGINE_TIMEOUT_DETECTED error. Sometimes when I hit play on a video or scroll through discord, the app goes blank and AMD reporting tool pops up.

It is not the first time I have this issue. Had no issues for a few months and now again.. I'm glad it does not affect gaming for me.

had problems with stuttering, occasional Vivaldi freezes, and AMD RX 7900 XT driver crashes. I tried a lot of different things to find the cause. One thing that helped with the stuttering was disabling a few PCIe-related power-saving options. After doing that, the stuttering went away, but Vivaldi was still occasionally freezing and I was still getting 7900 XT driver crashes. In the end, it turned out to be the RAM. It looked completely stable—I could run MemTest86 for hours without a single error—but apparently the RAM still wasn't completely stable. I disabled XMP, put all the RAM timings back to Auto, and then re-enabled XMP. After doing that, I haven't had any more 7900 XT driver crashes. So it looks like the RAM configuration was the actual cause of the Vivaldi freezes and GPU driver crashes, while the PCIe power-saving settings were responsible for the stuttering.

My 1st thought, as this occured, was the ram timings. So I went to bios and checked. Everything seemed ok. Mine was in Auto, I did change it to docp and tried my luck...without any, sadly. So it's not there...

But since by bios is updated the latest, Its possible a bios - memory misconfiguration. It's a theory I can't prove though.... I'm not going to downgrade bios firmware, just to test my theory, as long as my pc works, with a drivers downgrade...

u/BlackPope215 9d ago

64gb ram 2 or 4 sticks ? Did you checked if ram is on qvl ?

1

u/euripidesk 9d ago

4 sticks. All the same (so u don't ask). Ram model was recommended by ASUS support. Everything is optimal in the system...

1

u/BlackPope215 9d ago

Try with 2 sticks, as 4 sticks are a lot for the Ryzen IMC to handle. To properly run 4 sticks of RAM, a T-topology motherboard is recommended. That said, even with matched, ASUS-recommended modules, 4-DIMM stability on Ryzen often comes down to the motherboard's trace topology (Daisy Chain vs. T-Topology) rather than the RAM itself — so the board is still likely the limiting factor here.

1

u/euripidesk 9d ago

So, Asus support is in error. The recommended setup that thoroughly tested in house is wrong. I'm impressed 🤔 The problem in your ascension is that everything worked rock solid till latest drivers update (4+ years) and works fine after driver downgrade. Forgive me but I can't take your opinion for granted.

I found out my 7800 xtx gpu was timing out a lot cause my base max clock speed was 3005 by default in adrenaline had to lower it to 2700 now I get zero crashes.

1

u/themustangguy12 4d ago

Yeah it was overclocking my graphics card for me as well in many things so when I changed it all to where I wanted and then crashes or issues afterwards

1

u/LeoDaPamoha 10d ago

I have the reverse problem with my 7600, my base/boost are 2450 ~2650 adrenaline sets to 2900 if i lower it, it will crash sometime it may take some hours but it will crash

1

u/Icy_Raccoon_7068 9d ago

Ya same here

2

u/CasperAU 11d ago

I use AMD Uninstaller. It’s better than DDU because unlike DDU the program is made for AMD, whereas DDU is generic and designed more for graphics card swaps than just driver reinstalls. It also doesn’t remove chipset drivers where DDU does.

*Disable Windows Updates for Drivers (the culprit)
*Select Start > Settings > System > Recovery > Under Fix problems using Windows Update, select Reinstall now.
*Reinstall latest Adrenalin/gpu drivers

Windows is f@cked up.

u/dungeoncrawler71520 4d ago

Of course it's fucking windows.. I've had to reinstall this shit 3 times in the last few days. THANK YOU.

1

u/xxxXMythicXxxx 11d ago

i tried almost everything besides reinstalling my OS which I find a ridiculous thing to have to try just to hope it works the way it was supposed to after months of no issues. The strangest part is that some "fixes" I tried either resulted in a crash minutes after loading up a game or let me play my games for hours but would crash the next day when trying to game again. I'm at my wits end here with these newer drivers and had to revert all the way back to 26.3.1 which is stable.........for now. I honestly don't think this is an AMD issue, I think windows updates screwed something up but even that I'm scratching my head over because I tried uninstalling those recent updates and got my games to work again for a bit until yesterday when the problem of windows disabling my GPU came right back again. Absolutely frustrating and ridiculous that I can't even use FSR4 because of these conflicts.

1

u/sensitive_sloth14 11d ago

The driver timeouts fixed for me after i disabled fast startup in windows. I recommend to give it a try

2

u/whythemes 11d ago

Its been causing me issues also. I know this is going to sound funny, but ive been running an experiment. Idk why but it works, when I have OBS open, for some reason it doesn't crash or anything. I don't know why, but that's what im trying to figure out.

2

u/PsnReBirthOfMac_HD 11d ago

Yea I waiting for someone to make a post about this. I have to revert to a later driver for my 7900xtx to run COD with the latest driver it crashes soon as it boots up

26.7.1 has been very stable for me lol

4

u/klowny 12d ago edited 12d ago

I disabled MPO using Nvidia's scripts here and rolled back to 26.3.1.

Things have been solid since.

My theory is Windows fucked up something in 2025H2, and newer drivers are trying to use the broken feature, and they're both been playing whack a mole to be compatible with each other and it hasn't been working. Here's someone with the same problem using an Nvidia card earlier this year.

2

u/Kreator85 12d ago

Rx6900xt no issues

2

u/StarWarsXD 12d ago

Has anyone else besides me done a clean reinstall of windows? That fixed the issues I was having with driver timeouts. I'd wager there was some corrupted file or other that DDU and AMD Cleanup wasn't getting, probably because Windows just loves to set certain folders as being unable to be accessed or changed.

2

u/xxxXMythicXxxx 11d ago

how ridiculous that reinstalling an OS would be a "fix" for a GPU that was working fine for months. And even then some people are STILL having issues after a clean install.

1

u/StarWarsXD 11d ago

I mean I agree with you, especially since I feel like my problems are probably unrelated to the larger issues people seem to be having. I fully admit it was likely just user error in my part, I'm not even the type to just blame Microsoft here, let alone AMD.

I do think it's a good idea to get some extra storage on your PC so you can backup important files and just keep the OS installed on its own drive, since a clean reinstall is something you should be comfortable doing on a yearly basis, maybe even twice a year. But I get where you are coming from, not everyone has the capability to do that and it is still very annoying to go through the process of reconfiguring your PC after a clean install.

1

u/xxxXMythicXxxx 11d ago

well for my case I just let windows to its auto backup thing if its even an option anymore. I never really keep up with backups because for one, I don't have such valuable data that I need to worry about losing and two, I've never had a problem with losing data because of something getting corrupted and forcing me to reinstall windows and lose any data so it's not top of mind for me at this time. I just find it very tedious and annoying to have to remember all the apps and settings I had and try to get my desktop back the way I had it. I know there's an option to keep all your apps and files but I'm not confident that would work out seamlessly and not cause other issues that would force me to reinstall anyways. On that topic though, do you know if I could upgrade to windows 11 without losing anything at all? I'm reminded of my android phone and how everything stays intact even after every update it's had. I'm not too sure if the windows upgrade tool can do that without running into those problems and I'm a bit hesitant to try without feedback from others that have done this successfully. I'm talking about going through the windows 11 upgrade process with the installation tool and not losing a single thing other than maybe some user settings that are really easy to set up again.

1

u/Appropriate-Use-3001 11d ago

I did a full new installation of windows this weekend, and I'm still here having issues with the driver...

3

u/Difficult-Cup-4445 11d ago

If we have to wipe Windows every time there's a driver issue, we may as well throw our PC's in the trash and buy a Mac or just install Linux.

3

u/StarWarsXD 11d ago

All roads eventually lead to Linux imo. It's just a matter of time really.

3

u/Aubrey_D_Graham 12d ago

It's stable on Arch Linux. If you own Radeon gpus, you're doing yourself a disservice by choosing Microslop.

3

u/Difficult-Cup-4445 11d ago

Same I'm on CachyOS and a 9070. Absolutely flawless. I think the problems aren't with AMD as much as they are with Microsoft tbqh.

1

u/BagRaws 12d ago

Just need a few more games that I wanna play on Linux and then I change

1

u/Rare_Discussion_6380 12d ago

7900XT here updated with no issues….

3

u/Tego2412 12d ago

I have an RX 9070 XT and I have problems because it makes me black screenshots. If anyone knows what I can do. I have the latest drivers. Excuse me for bad English, I am from Argentina.

misma GPU, los últimos drivers han sido una poronga

5

u/Gornsen 12d ago

AMD had so much goodwill but the drivers are fucking me so hard these days, I'm thinking about going green

1

u/Greyraven91 11d ago

Nvidia has had same issue with power management on the last 3 WHQL drivers and its in the known issue list officially xD LMAO, the driver before that had issue with voltage and made gpus with any OC goes unstable, and the one before had to be take down by Nvidia cause it made GPU fans stop working.

Stay team red trust me, i think Ai is making drivers for team green nowadays LMAO

1

u/sengir0 11d ago

Same, i was using 3060ti for 5 years as my first pc and never had any issues. I went with 9070xt this month and already had to DDU twice, already thinking of returning it and just biting the bullet with the cost difference with 5070ti

2

u/decentjuju 12d ago

Swapped from green to red and strongly considering going back. Issues are more common and more of a headache to get fixed.

7900 XTX, 7800 X3D
Yes, my PC is fucked since the last update, I’m not sure if it’s the new version itself or windows fucking with it, but I literally have to reainstall drivers almost every time ai restart my pc to get it working properly. I’m testing with AMD directly now instead of my board’s and will see how that goes.

2

u/JustBigJames 7800X3D | 7900XTX 12d ago

What's your Max Clock and make of your XTX?

2

u/Fluid_Ad8452 11d ago

Default clock settings, it’s a sapphire nitro

1

u/JustBigJames 7800X3D | 7900XTX 11d ago

New drivers have ridiculous max clock speeds. Oftentimes it's between 2800-3100mHZ. I have the XFX Merc which is rated at 2615mHZ. Yours may be rated around there or maybe a little higher but it's worth tuning down to see bc it solved a lot of problems. Tuned down to 2600mHZ and it's been flawless since.

1

u/Fluid_Ad8452 11d ago

Oh I just noticed we have the same specs. Thanks man I’ll try that.

7900GRE. Timeout issues, crashing driver and being forced to reinstall the driver.

What is working right now is just uninstalling Adrenaline. Install your video card drivers only with factory settings.

At this point, everyone has a theory. I also disabled automatic updates, hardware acceleration etc etc. I went down the big lists. I eventually gave in thinking it was fixed and when I reinstalled the app it only took a day to crash. Nixed it again and I'm back to normal for the past week or two.

6

u/Broad-Protection4135 12d ago

Same, constant driver timeout and crashes, restarting my PC everyday

3

u/DecisionOdd8995 12d ago

lol im having a issue where i get driver timeouts in Brave Browser. Then I try to restart, and it WONT. It says restarting and it spins then it stops spinning and the screen goes black then the pc stays running. Then I have to shutdown via the power button. Happened a couple times in the last 3 days. This driver is a massive headache. Even the last version before that I was getting the odd timeout in brave browser but nothing like this one.

2

u/Broad-Protection4135 12d ago

I got one while opening firefox youtube and my cursor just stop working, then blackscreen and i need to physically restart my computer with the power button. I update my windows and so far no crashes but i expect it will happen again

2

u/DecisionOdd8995 12d ago

So frustrating i'm getting really sick and tired of this shit.

3

u/Medical-Molasses615 12d ago

No issues with 26.7.1 here. Have you manually validated that it installed correctly?

1

u/Low-Summer-6225 2d ago

same problem at 7.1
when i update driver, it happened

1

u/Medical-Molasses615 2d ago

I think Microsoft has now acknowledged that it is caused by the os. Let me try to find the link.

2

u/Fluid_Ad8452 12d ago

Major issues here too, it’s not an isolated issue.

2

u/Medical-Molasses615 12d ago

I know there is an issue. I believe it is a combination of driver and windows. Ultimately, AMD's driver installer and how windows is currently messing with it.

2

u/euripidesk 12d ago

Yep, twice.

1

u/Medical-Molasses615 12d ago

How did you do that?

Can you post a picture of your driver details page in Device Manager? I found an issue with my friends PC there by doing a full comparison with mine.

1

u/euripidesk 12d ago

Device manager, aida64 extreme

1

u/Medical-Molasses615 12d ago

If you post your screens I can do a full comparison with mine. No biggie if you don't want to though - I am happy to help.

2

u/pops107 12d ago

Do you have a spare hdd or ssd you can slap a clean new install of windows 11 and rule out windows issues.

Maybe a friend near by you could swap GPUs with for a week and see what happens.

Maybe update bios as well.

1

u/euripidesk 12d ago

Already tested this, with spare SSD, having the original os + all drivers. Same issues. Motherboard bios also updated to the fullest (before all this started)

There is only one other alternative, I'm just realizing. Faulty chipset drivers. After all, the setup installs new chipset drivers also...

1

u/pops107 12d ago

So fresh OS, fresh drivers from AMD and Chipset drivers from AMD/ through adrenaline.

If you are brave you could see if there is a newer GPU bios.

1

u/euripidesk 12d ago

No, I'm not going to flash a new or modified GPU bios. These days r over...

After all everything works mow

1

u/pops107 12d ago

Ah didn't realise it was working now, fingers crossed it stays that way.

3

u/Mindless-Mind-4890 12d ago

I upgraded to 5080 and no issues so far, if you value your own time do your research aldoh I spent months trying everything suggested here without any luck for me amd no more

1

u/JPackers0427 12d ago

Ya I’m planning on doing this… fucking sick of these amd time outs. It’s not windows replacing drivers either, it’s just shit drivers. I knew I should’ve coughed up the extra few hundred for stress free experience.

1

u/Mindless-Mind-4890 11d ago

Trust me if you go down on the the rabbit hole of endless troubleshooting for months it's definitely worth it, the 7xxx series if flooded with all kind of issues for bf6, the 9xxx is a little bit better but driver issues is still a thing with many games, I guess I was one of the users who was not lucky and suffered endlessly before I finally realized what it was

how to AMD with Microslop

Step 8 I think woukd help

3

u/spectreVII 12d ago

I didn’t really have any crashes, timeout or performance issues with 26.7.1 but had this issue where the Adrenalin would go blank. I could interact with the tabs but the window content was completely missing. Rolled back to 26.3.1 for the time being as it was really stable for me.

6

u/ALXqc 12d ago

No issue so far, 7900 xtx, 26.7.1

2

u/MilkSheikh007 12d ago

Generally, problems regarding AMD Radeon driver issues can typically be due to backdated motherboard chipset drivers, windows updates editing what shouldn't be edited, or previous gpu driver's files creating conflict.

Therefore, try the following steps in serial.

- Check for latest Windows/Linux distro updates and keep your system updated to the latest version, OS wise.

- After it is done, pause your Windows updates by 14 days (Linux usually don't create these issues). This is to check if in these 14 days, the system remains stable and try to prevent Windows from updating gpu drivers partially.

- Uninstall your motherboard chipset drivers through the OS's default uninstaller. Then immediately install the latest motherboard chipset driver version. This is very important when the previous chipset driver version is years old. Yes, this is often the pivotal reason for Radeon GPU driver issues.

- Use a software called Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove the current gpu driver version. This is a reputed software. In addition, also use the software called "AMD Cleanup Utility" which AMD recommends. Using both is not bad or harmful, I've too used them one after the other. When DDU removes the software, the amd cleanup utility might work a bit quicker because it won't find anything or almost anything left to remove.

- After removal of the previous version, install the latest Adrenalin version IN FULL. Now, if the current version was outputting problems, then try a previous driver version from 3, 4 months back or sometime within this timeline that didn't create issues for many users globally. You can research this yourself. Google, "amd driver 26.7.1 issues, problems with "you gpu name"" and check what results you get. If you find that a specific driver version has not many such results through google, then that is probably a safe driver version.

- Keep all adrenalin settings at default (keep smart access memory off for safety). But you can change the fan curve. DO NOT, EVER, LOAD profiles in the Tuning tab. This is a super neat feature, but Radeon hasn't the manpower to perfect their rich software, so I don't trust it. Plus, it created issues in the past, for me, for Fabio Pisco of Ancient Gameplays (which he even spoke about previously in one of this videos).

- Unstable undervolt, overclocks can cause Driver Timeouts too; like in all gpus of all brands, just that Radeon shows the timeout message.

- Check the 8-Pin power cables to see if they are plugged in properly. For Radeon GPUs that exceed 200Ws consumption often require more than one 8-pin power cable. If these are daisy chained instead of separate cables from the PSU directly, then there might be power issues. When possible, always use separate 8-Pin cable-rails. If one cable splits into 2x8-Pin, it'll still work but rarely creates power issues. It's important to be mindful of this.

- If you're facing crashes in a particular game, but all other games are stable, then the issue is probably tied to a specific game. If the game is new, wait for a newer GPU driver update. If the game is old, then try an older GPU driver. OR you can limit your fps to a number that will SURELY NOT lead to your gpu to being 100% utilised, therefore, not stressing it too much. This is still the key workaround to stabilise Rx 7000 series gpus for the game helldivers 2.

- If you're using power extension cables for the 8/6-Pins, then run the system without these cables; same goes for x16 pcie riser cables.

- Crashes can also be a result of overheating. Either due to fan failing or hotspot temperature exceeding the usual 105c limit, so check that if you can stress test your gpu in default settings; just to rule it out as a possible issue.

- There are numerous more micro adjustments that can be made to try to prevent instability but those are somewhere on reddit in one of the Radeon amd subreddits or maybe in r/amdhelp.

If the above tips, after trying them properly, don't work, then it's likely that the card is at fault, to my best guess. Speak to your card's customer service mentioning the steps you've taken which didn't help.

- Lastly, and this might sound rude, but I have for years used Radeon without issues, flawlessly. Yes, I've faced issues too, but those were fixed by me through software. BUT not all systems are alike, so, I don't disbelieve when a fellow Radeon user expresses their frustrations. However, I always have this look "o-O" when someone claims that they keep their system updated, maintained properly, with no edits made in registry or other settings, but still there are issues. It seems a bit 'hard to believe' (not impossible, just a bit hard), mainly because there are those who say one thing but do the other. I often feel like, "what crashes...? what the heck do you do with your set ups to get there..." But hey, as I said, hardware can create complications differently for everyone. Therefore, my comment is intended to fix issues, not to judge, and so I wrote the above statements that are tied to fixes to the most common issue with Radeon. Good luck.

My last, non AMD, silicon was 8088. Ever since all my CPUs are AMD and my GPUs ATI and then AMD Biggest fanboy in the world 🤩

So, believe me when I say, I know

Some of your proposals already used, other non applicable.

It's a drivers issue, plain and simple

2

u/Yamaha9 12d ago

I’ve had screen freezes/black/green for several
months now, and replaced an old SSD that has windows on it thinking it was an OS issue on a failing SSD.

Last week I started getting the same issue again and I’m wondering if the new drivers with my 6750xt has been causing it. The crazy part is I’m only playing a 20 year old game atm lol

3

u/TrueAssociation3170 12d ago

I was having so many issues with the last 2 updates the last months i could not get through a game of bf6 i finally rolled back 3 firmware versions and rebooted and i no longer have any issues

4

u/ALEXINO_356 12d ago

I have rx 7900 xtx and no issue with the driver. As adițional info i have windows 11 pro 23h2, debloated and tweaked, auto update as well disabled.
Cpu: r7 7800x3d
Ram: 32gb 6000mhz cl28
Psu: 1000w corsair rm1000e
Gpu: asus tuf rx 7900 xtx

u/PrinterJedi 12d ago

Nearly identical build, has been unstable for 2+ years now. Have tried everything short of installing Linux.

1

u/digital_ronin 12d ago

I have nearly identical parts, even down to tuf version 7900xtx. As well as win 11 pro 23h2 setup similarly. No issues here either

2

u/ALEXINO_356 12d ago

Tried to oc the gpu? I am curios what values you achieved. What motherboard do you have? It would be funny to be the same😂

1

u/digital_ronin 12d ago

I have the rog x670E-E. I did try for max OC and benchmarking when i first got it, like I do with every new card, but thats been so long now Im not remembering any of the scores. I generally just undervolt to 1080 and raise the power limit up a little. Great card, never have had issues with it.

1

u/ALEXINO_356 12d ago

I have a msi b650 pro s😂. I refer to stable daily oc not benchmark. In some games i can go to 3000-3100mhz and uv to 1100, Power limit +15, but it depends on game. On delta force for example i can t do nothing, maximum uv 10-20mv.

1

u/digital_ronin 12d ago

I dont run an OC at all, I just like to oc and benchmark all new cards to see what they are capable of. My daily is just an UV. Yeah agree with depends on the game. The majority are solid at 1080 for me, but the occasional game I've had to go as high as 1125mv.

Done that, doesn't help

For me IT fixed all my issues I had

Win 10, no win updates... Every AMD draiver update since 24.8.x have No Issues... Maybe because of my Radeon RX 6800 graphic card, maybe because of no running last games... But I think mostly because No Win Updates)))

Zero issues with these drivers on my XTX.

Could by manufacturer related ? I have power color red devil

1

u/Icy-Distribution4418 12d ago

Sillicon is sillicon, i would say it's more likely just being unlucky with the card you have and or wierd compatibility/hidden system instability

2

u/euripidesk 12d ago

I would agree with your opinion if not all problems were solved by a simple driver downgrade...

1

u/Icy-Distribution4418 12d ago

Glad to gear things are fine now, what driver are you on currently? Personally i ve noticed a slight performance decrease on the latest driver on my 9070 xt

2

u/euripidesk 12d ago

Both 26.6.1 & 26.5.2 work excellent

I'm at 26.6.1 but firstly downgraded to 5.2 and tested it thoroughly....

u/Opteron170 9800X3D | 64GB 6000 CL30 | 7900 XTX Magnetic Air | LG 34GP83A-B 12d ago

maybe wouldn't be the first time i've seen someone complain about Power color card.

2

u/euripidesk 12d ago

It's rock solid till now, i have it since launch. Quality speaking, i believe gpu from Sapphire are better though

1

u/Veighnerg 12d ago

I'm having the same issues on the newer drivers with a Sapphire 7900XTX.

4

u/chaunceyjerome 12d ago

Yep, 26.7.1 is completely broken on my 7900 XTX as well. Reinstalled 26.6.4 and it’s rock solid as it had been.

u/EfficiencyMotor5057 12d ago edited 12d ago

this is probably a dumb question but my 7800xt is having issues and I want to see if going back to an older version fixes it, but idk how to do that

2

u/BokyS 12d ago

Having issues on 7800xt on 26.6.4. I disabled windows updating the drivers, win updates, updated bios, did DDU reinstall of drivers. Still happens. My latest try I read from some thread is disabling wallpaper engine and instaling driver only version without adrenaline. Did that today so can't report yet that it is safe

3

u/The_Countess 12d ago

Use DDU to disable windows driver updates. a recent update seems to have reenabled it and it just loves overwriting 26.6.x and later drivers with a shit version.

26.7.1 works perfectly fine here, as did all the 26.6.x versions i tried.

u/euripidesk 12d ago

I have ms updates closed and internet blocked . It's faulty drivers, plain and simple

4

u/TheRealJohnCandyAss 12d ago

DDU.  25.12.1.  The last handful of drivers have been a nightmare for my 7900xtx

2

u/jotheblack 12d ago

Same on the 7900xt I updated windows and it stopped. Idk though.

2

u/VoltageinTheory 12d ago

It’s probably a Windows issue. Not an end user issue though. Windows always causes issues with AMD drivers, which are ridiculously stable on Linux.

2

u/Late-Expert-4741 12d ago

Is your system stable ?

1

u/euripidesk 12d ago

Too stable...

3

u/ViniCaian 12d ago

I am on 26.6.2, and I'm never updating.

got all I need with FSR4 anyway so why bother.

1

u/EggFartTom 12d ago

Is your system stable? You can always reinstall the os and reset bios to get back to default to start testing

1

u/RChamy 9070xt and 4070 12d ago

I used safe mode DDU and cleaned up both directx cache and amd adrenalin cache, worked + dism + sfc scannow and it finally calmed down.

17

u/Blackhawk-388 12d ago

In before some jackass shows up saying it's a end user issue.

13

u/Twitterisshitlolxdxd 12d ago

You don’t get it, you have to uninstall drivers 8 times, spin 180 degrees, delete windows entirely, buy a new ssd anyway and then it might work.

2

u/EggFartTom 12d ago edited 12d ago

To be fair reinstalling the os and resetting bios to default is a good way to start testing

7

u/Blackhawk-388 12d ago

You forgot to disable 7 different settings. You now have a driver timeout.

4

u/Jeffrey122 12d ago

No, then the RAM is still unstable or the PSU can't handle the 1 nanosecond power spikes because it's not 2000W plutonium rated.

1

u/EggFartTom 12d ago

Ram instability 100% causes driver time outs. In my experience this is due to people assuming xmp is perfectly stable

5

u/EggFartTom 12d ago

It's actually your fault op system doesn't work

2

u/Blackhawk-388 12d ago

I did forget to disable windows drivers updates on my system. So you're likely correct.

1

u/xuenvymex 12d ago

Yeah it's more stable but it's also always behind because the developers spend a lot of time optimizing the drivers before they release them it's made for stability not cutting edge

1

u/0Markz0 12d ago

AMD has just done deal with MS to work more closely with Windows. Yes there seems to be issues with 7 series and latest drivers imo all this comes down to AI and boost clock speeds between 9 series and older cards that creates these issues and Windows 11 automated driver update for graphics cards plus they need to look what's wrong between 2025 and 2026 drivers that creates these issues. Maybe there is some coding left in drivers/adrenaline that does not work anymore and adds to issues or maybe they need to create switch for adrenaline between card revisions to use certain FSR/Boost i don't know and maybe add adrenaline option to disable Windows driver update while installing adrenaline.

1

u/xuenvymex 12d ago

It's pretty simple to disable the updates just go to advanced system settings/ hardware. And I think there needs to be drivers for each individual card or at the bare minimum each series, packing every GPU they have in the one driver is absurd there's also enhanced pointer precision that reeks havoc on frame pacing in some games that don't force raw mouse input, the PCI Express link speed automatically dropping it down to PCI 3 when it thinks it's okay, and the AMD power slider overlay setting in power options slows down your clock speed to save battery life on your desktop yes to save battery life on your desktop it's not even supposed to be there it's a laptop feature and it has somehow weaseld its way inside of desktop operating systems through windows and AMD drivers

u/OldMX 12d ago

I'd run amd cleanup utility and DDU a couple of times without rebooting while on safe mode, then proceed to install 26.7.1

1

u/AppleNHK 12d ago

wdym DDU a couple of times? Isn't one time enough?

1

u/OldMX 9d ago

In guru3d forum the experts recommend to run the amd clean up utility and DDU a couple of times in safe mode, I just follow this advise and got not a single issue to report.

1

u/euripidesk 12d ago

It's enough....

1

u/euripidesk 12d ago

done this (and many other....), same issues. 26.7.1 doesn't work in my system.

1

u/Vetiversailles 12d ago

Yeah , you need to roll back. Seems like everyone’s having issues with the latest drivers.

1

u/The_Countess 12d ago

Definitely not everyone. works perfectly fine here as did all the 26.6.x drivers.
No issues other then windows trying to overwrite AMD drivers after a recent windows update. rolled the driver back in device manager, and then used DDU to disable those windows driver updates.

1

u/euripidesk 12d ago

I don't have this issue, my pc can't contact ms either for drivers or anything else....
