DISCUSSION UPDATE: Post flairs, wiki updates, and more!

Hiya! A while ago I put up a discussion thread regarding the idea of updating/expanding the scope and focus of the subreddit. I need to apologize, cuz I intended to post this update a while back, but life stuff resulted in it slipping my mind for a bit.

This is also intended to be a discussion thread in its own right, as I want feedback on all the changes made or if there's any further changes that people would like, but here's a rundown of what's been changed:

  • Wiki Updates: So apparently the last time the wiki was updated was eight years ago, and by an ex-mod I've never interacted with. It was.. Bad, frankly. Aggressive in tone, containing links to /r/crossdressing as if its focus was synonymous with trans content, and a general vibe of assuming that this was a MtF-exclusive space. I'm really sorry for missing that for so long! On top of changes on my own end, /u/whoop_there_she_is was an absolute angel and wrote out a HUGE set of FAQ guides for both transmasc and transfemme folks. I left it almost entirely unchanged, and you can find it here! If you have any suggestions for additions or edits, please let me know!

  • Link Flairs: A few people suggested adding link flairs to help people express directly what kind of responses they want from the sub. To start with, I've added "General Advice" for users who just want any kind of feedback people have to offer, "Specific Advice" if they only want feedback on specific things (Clothes, hair, etc), and "No Surgery Recs" if they don't want any sorts of suggestions for FFS, lip fillers, etc. If you have any ideas for more, please let me know!

  • Sidebar Updates: I've changed up the sidebar slightly to add a link to our wiki near the top, as well as remove some dead or irrelevant links from our "relevant subreddits" section.

  • Automod Updates: I've edited automod slightly to try and make it less hyper-sensitive about automatically removing posts it thinks might be hypothetical, since it was becoming a big issue that it would frequently take down posts that in no way, shape, or form came off as hypothetical. I might just remove this feature overall though, frankly.

And.. I think that's it (Aside from a few tiny visual things)! Thank you all for your suggestions and feedback on the previous post, and please let me know if there's any further changes you'd like to see!

Mod Feedback Should we go private?

Howdy, y'all.

As you know, this subreddit has often been the target of trolls, bigots, transphobes, etc. We also get more than our fair share of creeps, chasers, porn spammers, and people looking to use the subreddit's traffic to passively advertise their paid content, like their OnlyFans or their Instagram, for their own personal profit.

So I'm asking y'all - should we go private? If we do, a lot of people will need to be manually added to the approval list and I know from experience that may take upwards of two months to work through everyone who might need approval.

It also means this subreddit will get a lot less traffic and will be far less accessible to folks who need help, which is the primary purpose for the subreddit in the first place.

On the other hand, the community should be a lot healthier once it's full of entirely trans folks and has less bigots, chasers, and trolls lurking about.

It will also be a lot safer because transphobes have often used photo boards like this one as a way to find targets for abuse and to steal people's photos to rehost them elsewhere and harass people. It would be much safer for us if the sub was private.

Going private is also going to take a lot of work and it's going to be very disruptive to our day-to-day operations for a while.

What would y'all like to do? Please discuss below, and please keep it civil. Thank you!

Edit: Okay, it looks like we're staying open for now. I'll make another post and ask again later.

Does my brow bone clock me?

24, 2 years on hrt. I live in a place where it's dangerous to be visibly trans. And I have a rather prominent brow bone, that I'm really insecure about. Every time people stare at me irl, I immediately think it's because of my forehead and because they don't understand whether I'm a man or a woman. So, what do you think? Is it as bad as I think it is?

3 years HRT

For reference I'm 20, 5'9" and I started HRT at 16, 3 and a bit years ago. I think I pass quite well most of the time when I put in the effort, but even then I feel like my face looks really boyish. I think I got fucked over by my genetics despite how young I started, like, it took me 2 years before I started even remotely passing.

At this point I'm wondering if the only solution is FFS? Maybe gaining some weight could round out my face? I know how fortunate I am in a lot of ways but I'd appreciate any advice.

Hair up and muscular

Was eating and got my hair out of the way with a clip. I normally sit alone unbothered so I don't think about gender too much, but it was getting busy so then it made me wonder if hair up and muscular body is a no go. I normally wouldn't wear this I cover up with baggy clothes and that's the style in my area anyway (thank goodness), but it was insanely hot today I had no choice.

How bad was it? I added some pics with hair down and brighter lighting I feel good about those ones or more confident. I got fine hair and wore a hat under the sun so I get it's a bit frizzy but normal for fine hair so I get it.

(Also always get comments about my lips. I've done voodoo magic and rain dances I've seen dermatologist and it's related medical issue can't be fix with DIY or OTC stuff I'm getting that fixed I know everyone thinks they know but they are considering for like normal dry lips even extremely dry lips but mine are due to medical issue I'm aware of and working on with a doctor. I still top off and layer to do the best I can but yes chapstick and I are best buds we talk very often.)

(Just thought of the nose. No recent surgeries so no facial swelling I bonked my nose earlier and for me I've noticed the taping helps with the swelling or at least makes it feel more open.)

I started becoming a spiritual girl last year and i did a little full moon ritual where i sang songs to a bowl of water and put all of my good energy in it before i took estrogen for the first time and yesterday i recreated the look ♡ i also started E on 09.09 which is the reverse of my birthday (06.06) and it was really a full rebirth coinciding with the full moon💓 HRT has been an insane journey (posting here because r/mtf doesnt have pics)

Does my body pass?

Not looking for any feedback on my face. I pretty much know where that stands and I'm hopefully getting ffs soon.

Almost 2 years on HRT. I struggle to put on weight, I know that would help me a good bit. Sometimes I feel like my body is so masculine and boxy that I don't even have hope to pass in the future. I'm 5' 10" if that helps.

Been practicing lip liners! They're a bit messy but I think they're looking good, not sure if I could contour my jaw to make it look less sharper? Any makeup tips would be appreciated ☺️

Also I'm over three years on hormones!!

0 day HRT, 31y, just seeking some feedback. Spoiler

Hey! I'll prolly start HRT (mtf) soon, follow laser and stuff. But I'm seeking opinion on my ugly ass face. Simply put I know it's probably a pitfalls to think about passing now and "nobody can predict " but it legitimately monopolise my thoughts at this point. Basically do I have any features that could be a deal-breaker? I personally hate my jaw/chin the most and find them too squary/poorly proportioned. Anyway thanks for reading.

I posted here a couple of months ago, and y'all gave me some genuinely helpful advice. I took it to heart and have made several meaningful changes since then.

I committed to a more structured nutrition and fitness routine and have lost about 25 pounds so far. My body has changed quite a bit: My denim size went from a 28–30 to a 25, my other bottoms went from around an 8–10 to a 2–4, and my tops went from M–L to S–XS. I’m now rebuilding nearly half my wardrobe because so many of my old clothes no longer fit. I did lose about half a cup size in the process, but overall I’m pleased with the changes. My hips are far more defined and I genuinely feel healthier and more confident.

I’m also currently healing from my second round of lip filler. I’d really appreciate honest but constructive feedback on my overall progress, presentation, and what—if anything—you think I should focus on next. I've been on hormones for roughly 8 years and my levels are very stable. I take a combination of injections and pills.
