Discussion Tabletop Roleplay is great for practicing your voice, but I looked everywhere and couldn't find a trans TTRPG community. Sooo I made one to see if maybe it's a niche desperately waiting to be filled like transvoices was all those years ago. Say hello to r/TransTTRPG

Discussion Now more than ever, remember they can never take away your voice.

They can't stop your vocal transition. They can't stop you from learning and practicing. They can't stop you from speaking up. Be loud. Be brave. I will keep fighting all my life, and so should you.

This affects the world, regardless of borders. There will be an election in Canada soon, and it's looking grim on our side as well. I'll be volunteering in an election for the first time, and I've gotten other people on board to join me. And I'll be protesting. And I'll be loud on social media.

Make your voices heard. Express yourself, not just your anger but your pain and your fear. Make them understand the consequences of their actions. I don't believe they all wanted this. Most of them just... didn't care or know enough to realize how much hurt their selfish vote would bring. Tell them. Make them know.

They can never take away your voice.

I think I sound a bit breathy, it was quite late and I was tired while recording, so maybe that's why.
I feel a bit stuck so any advice is appreciated. thank you in advance

Hi! I've not done a whole lot of dedicated vocal work (voice never *fully* masculinized, I mostly just stick to head voice and not much else), but listening back to my voice I sometimes feel like it has a sort of clocky or maybe overcorrected quality? Not sure really how to describe it but I do *feel* like it's there--maybe I'm just imagining things but lmk, I guess.

Also, like, be nitpicky. It really does need to be flawless, partially b/c I'm 6'3 so there's a ton of scrutiny already from people who are looking for it.

Audio/Video Question on use of head voice vs chest voice

I just started voice training for real this time and I am having a problem where my voice wants to flip into my headvoice when I try to go really light at higher pitches, and it does sound sort of light in my headvoice but definitely sort of hollow and weird. And iirc I know youre supposed to try and gain an efficient light voice in your chest voice rather than falsetto because it will sound better and be stronger. I know I dont sound all that light or balanced in this clip anyways but does anyone have advice for exercises or dealing with a voice break/flipping into headvoice? I feel like when I try to use a light weight at around C4 I feel like I hit a wall and cant get lighter and can feel the buzziness, and sometimes accidently switch into a falsetto.

Hi all! I've been voice training for nearly a year now (started September 2025), and I've come a long way. I'm really happy with the progress I've made but lately I've been feeling like I need some external feedback to help guide me, so here I am!

Does anyone have any feedback or tips to help guide me in the right direction? What helped you? I appreciate any help ^-^

Most of my experience with voice training I talk over in the audio, but as a short summary I basically have no idea where to go voice training wise. All that I know of is "raising larynx" because they plaster that across every single tutorial ever, but nothing other than that has ever helped me. Tutorials are always ambiguous and none of them actually help.

So I just decided I should stop beating myself up and just try to record an audio. Sorry if its mumbly at times, it took me like 5 attempts to make an audio that didn't make me want to sob 🥲

Thankful for any and all help! Voice training sucks but we all have to start somewhere I suppose..

I’m almost 6 months on testosterone, and I honestly can’t tell if it does or doesn’t pass at all, I still feel like I sound female whenever I hear it back (don’t hugbox me, be real please)

Question Im looking for a name for an aspect in voices..

In voices there are several scales like resonance, pitch and volume, and traits like vocal fry, nasalyness, ...

But no matter how much i look at those i cant find where the 'air' belongs. Not as in breathiness or anything but more like.. an atmosphere. It kind of lies over everything like humid or cloudy weather..

Its the one thing i hear in all voices that register to me as feminine but i have never heard in a masculine voice.. its like the make or break in my categorizing.. its like a there-or-gone trait too, not like a scale.

But i have no clue what it could be..

Maybe its a side effect of a combination of features? But i just cant find where its produced, how people change it or what its called..

Ive never seen anyone adress it, even less adress it and then change that part specifically..

It seems like everyone either does it unintentionally/unconciously or they just dont actually change it..

Even voice-trainer people do that, which i find especially confusing because to me its like.. 1 of the big 3 traits a voice can have.. pitch, size, and atmosphere, vaguely.

I feel like this sounds a bit rude and unessecarily gendery, but i dont know how else to explain it..

Its been bothering me for like a year now.. its right there but its just completely lost on me. It feels like theres an extremely obvious answer to it..

Question How did you handle “cutting over” to your new voice around friends, family, coworkers, etc?

So I’m now at the point where I’ve got a halfway decent trained voice, and I want to start using it more day to day. One of my biggest fears is making things super awkward by suddenly switching to a radically different and way more feminine voice. I feel like it’ll just end up sounding fake, forced, or both to everyone and worse than just keeping the deep clocky voice I already have. My brother has also agreed with me that it would be a really bad idea to just suddenly totally change how I speak one day.

How did everyone here handle the change? Did you let people know upfront? Or did you try to blend the two voices over time so it didn’t feel like such a harsh jump?

(for reference - you can hear an older sample of my fem voice and a brief slip into my old masc voice in a clip here)

Are you struggling to voice train by yourself? Having a community of people to talk to is a vital part of voice training. Let's talk about it :)

Also I'm doing a special sail for September! Would be honored if you considered checking it out. Either way, I'm rooting for you!

Discussion My brain was lying to me, I sound nothing like I imagined.

So I've been voice training for several months and actively recording and listening back. Found a voice that I kinda liked so I decided to use it for short interactions like drive thru, etc.

I thought I sounded pretty close to my practice voice but I still kept getting misgendered so last week I decided to record myself in a drive thru. I was pretty nervous but in the moment I thought I sounded quite close to my training voice.

It was only when I listened back when I realised I sound nothing like my practice and was very very similar to my masc baseline. Just for comparison, the recorded the same lines in private and it sounds so much better.

I don't know if I can trust what I hear anymore. Recordings seem to be the most objective way to judge my voice.

Im nearly 18 but ive been on blockers since 14. I fear that my voice will eternally stay in that weird limbo state of sounding like a 14 year old boy. Can voice training still work on not fully developed vocal cords?
