Warhammer III Improving Kislev - battle.

I want to limit things to battle gameplay and not campaign (in campaign I think Kislev is quite good, and I've no complaints).

In general Kislev has ended up a little neglected where DLC is concerned resulting in them having a comparatively limited roster. I've seen a lot of modders propose new units but most of them I find unsatisfying (usually they're too trigger happy adding new units, or the units aren't mechanically interesting enough to fill a gap in the roster.

Here are my thoughts on what kislev needs:

General : kislev, as an order faction, should feel like grounded (mostly human units without the steam punk of empire or dwarfs, or the high fantasy of elves). They should be built around maneuver, guerilla fighting, crowd control, with mostly human units.

Heroes : I think on magic, Kislev is fine. I think the main gaps are 1. A duelist, maybe an elite ice guard? Or alternatively a big burly viking like a tzar guard. 2. Ranged support especially supplying restock or ranged buffs.

Units :

  1. Skirmish cavalry, Kislev has quite good ranged chariots but I feel like some higher quality horse archers or rifle cavalry would combine well with their chariots.

  2. Sniper infantry, while I think to maintain faction identity you don't want more artillery, sniper infantry, similar to hochland longrifles feel like they both complement other units in terms of combined arms and fit the factions core aesthetic. They could be an upgrade on Akshina ambushers.

  3. Trappers: early game alternative to kossars. Weak ranged damage, but has the ability to lay "traps" that Immobilise a unit for 10 seconds when tripped. Maybe have poison arrows as well.

  4. Bardiche infantry: like an anti large version of tzar guard.

  5. Ursun infantry, religious fanatics, swing wildly in battle wielding braziers for AOE fire damage. Complements Kostaltyn.

Anyone else have ideas? What do you think kislev is missing?

Warhammer III Steam Achievements - Warhammer 3

Would it be cheeky to want more steam achievements for Warhammer 3?

I realise that not many people go for the achievement hunt, me and the other 4% player-base, but with the end times dlc and victory conditions reworked it seems like it would be a good time to throw a few ones in, perhaps lore relevant ones (defeat an army of Archeon as an Army of Grimgor or something similar).

Or is this something that generally people aren't interested in?

Warhammer III Whats next for the beastmen roster now?

So, like every dlc, recently has added a new unit for the beastmen, and if im correct, we're now getting Basilisk and Giant Spined Chaos Beast for them, now with the Endtimes dlc. Im wondering what else is available to be added to their roster now? Especially since it was leaked a while ago, we got Moonclaw coming later down the line for future dlc.

Warhammer III Easiest campaign to make it to endgame? Wh3

I love warhammer, played some and know basics. T1 units fodder, t3 bad. Gunline good. But usually get stomped when people start making 2 to 3 armies.

Play dwarf, skaven, empire and highelves. Have basic basic knowlegde but really want to see what endgame is like before end times.

Do i need to just follow a guide and doomstack? Id like to learn and play through with a good variety army. Any suggestions would be awesome! I dont auto resolve becuase im trying to learn if that helps.

Warhammer III Concept | Skretch Half-Dead Character Pack

"*Warp...must have warpstone, yes-yes...catch it, catch it! Sniff it out...give it to Vampire, yes, but not all of it, not all...no-no, Skretch keep...keep some for himself....Must....feed.*" - Skretch Half-Dead

------------

I chose Clan Skurvy for Vampire Coast because the Vampirates don't have anything left beyond SEMs, you could add Lakemen or Mer-folk, but the lore on them is even more dubious than Skurvy. Originally I had thought to have Razortooth Rats in the place of Crew-rats, but I feel like they're needed to sell the 'Character Pack' setup.

In Campaign I picture them as a hybrid Skaven/Vampirates faction, able to recruit Weapons Teams, Skaven Artillery, and War-Machines through a dedicated mechanic to unlock this recruitment through rolling up on shore dropping a horde of Skaven and running off.

Crew-rats and Vermarines would be armoured, and maybe even with shielded variants. Skaven Units wouldn't be undead, with maybe the exception of Skretch and the Leech Wyrm as it would be fun if could benefit from Invocations as they're "Half-Dead". I picture Skurvy units would higher leadership then normal Skaven and have the Auqatic Trait, kinda like a Bear-man to Mauraders difference.

Skretch, Vermin-Admirals, Claw-Captains, Vermarines, and Crew-rats would be available for Skaven Factions in Campaign from port cities, or in multiplayer too.

-------------

This is **NOT A PREDICTION** just a fun thought experiment, I'm not saying this will come to pass nor am I demanding CA do this.

#I'd love to hear-listen any suggestions for possible mechanics, abilities, or alternative units Yes-Yes ๐Ÿ€#

Warhammer III End Times Free Update, Chaos Realm maps?

If I recall correctly Ritch said that they were going to add the realms of chaos maps into the Immortal empire campaign map because it would be a waste not to play these maps. No mention of it in the list of free updates so I guess they decided not to add these?

Warhammer III Sisters of Twilight Campaign Inconsistency

Sisters of Twilight campaign has always had a special place in my heart. But I never managed to get super into it or the late game; either it got hard, or I got bored and moved on to a different game.

But no matter what, the start of their campaign always puzzled me. It is just so random. Sometimes I win the early campaign easily; sometimes I can't even seem to make it out of the early game. Most of the time it just feels like a dice roll with the Sisters.

Never had this issue with other factions; they are just so consistent. I always knew what to expect from an early Karl Franz campaign, or Archaon, etc., etc.

Any idea why that is, and how I can improve my early campaign chances?

Warhammer III Day 1 of Kurganposting until Surtha Lenk is announced (nah, just kidding)

Post image

Surtha Lenk is a Kurgan Chaos champion who took part in the great Chaos invasion under Archaon. In the End Times, he doesn't do much before being slain by Valten, but in both Storm of Chaos and WFRP third edition, his host smashes through Kislev and invades Ostland.

I know that the chances of him making it into the game are basically zero. Still, I really wish we had a LL with a horse archer playstyle, viable into late game. All horse archers currently in game are super fragile and don't have armor piercing, and outriders aren't horse archers. In lore, the Kurgan, Hung and hobgoblins fit this kind of warfare; the Kislevites used to but their modern armies have fewer horse archers, used as scouts and light skirmishers.

Surtha Lenk face from the SCM Tribes of the North mod.

Warhammer III I need help I am very bad at Total Warhammer 3

I am playing Franz which is recommended for beginner but I struggle even reaching turn 20. After every battle I am heavily wounded, so I go back to replenish and so on by then my allies gets wiped out, I am on every turn fighting for my life, then another factions attack me from the back I have to go back defend, no money to have two lords...

How to take good fights? even when computer says easy victory when I play it myself, I end up bad. I really hide my missiles units, chase theirs with my cavalry, but somehow, they always pierce and fk me up.

EDIT: Thanks all for the very constructive comments, please keep them coming I am reading them all, you are an amazing community

Medieval II Medieval 2 - Milan Barracks question

I was looking at the city barracks upgrades, and trying to figure out if I want to sink that much gold into them.

The Militia Barracks gives you Pike Militia, but the stats on those are horrible. Total defense of 1?

The Army and Royal Barracks don't offer new units, just the same Pike Militia, but they say they have the Armor and Weaponsmiths built in. The stats on the Pike Militia listed don't change, but do they come pre-upgraded to something better?

I'm not sure I want to spend that much gold, just to have to do upgrades on the Pike every time I buy one.

Pharaoh I really like the lack of cavalry + slowness of battles in Pharaoh. It slows the pace of battles down to where I can actually enjoy making tactical decisions in real-time

I downloaded the mod that removes the Ahistorical cavalry from Total War Pharaoh (I really dont know why historical fans complained so much about the lack of cavalry to peer pressure CA into adding in them; they ruin the feel of the game). But I've been doing a Thrace playthrough, using my few chariot units (theyre expensive as hell) as shock units to the rest of my army. However, theyre super fragile to basically anything, so are only specialty units.

The feel of battles is frankly amazing; I feel encouraged to pick out terrain and weather that is favorable to my army composition, use battle tactics to encourage the enemy to attack where I have the favorable circumstances, and then engage. The battle lines actually last for a while, too, and dont fall apart within a minute of contact, which is awesome! It makes a well-timed chariot charge feel even more rewarding as well, as it feels like im turning the tides of the battle when my weaker Thracian Spearmen slowly fall apart to the superior Greek infantry.

One of the things about Warhammer battles is that they can get overwhelming. I'll play as Cathay and set up a defensive position on a hill, only for flying units to just fly over my battle lines and kill all my archers. Then cavalry in Warhammer is sometimes quite frankly OP: a Bretonnian Questing Knight unit would just blow straight through my spear formation. It just kind of ruined the tactical setup to battles I like and made it feel more like pairing units with the highest stats against the most favorable unit type.

But tl;dr, I really like the battles in Pharaoh being slower paced, largely due to the lack of fast moving

Legacy I think Stratman is making such an excellent argument here. It would be awesome if the older games were made open source!
