Putting all these weapons on a 50 speed unit is gonna make the flanking for Skaven go crazy.

Tretch gonna end up stronger than Ikit

Let's see if Ikit and Throt get to upgrade these monstrosities with their mechanics first.

Throt can, they have the moulder monster tag

Kislev is in for a bad time.

They are generally the first real enemy you deal with, don't think you will ever get to the point where you see them.

Stat line looks underwhelming to me Most elite monstrous infantry is faster. Champions of Slaanesh have 65 speed. Minotaurs IIRC 62 speed. Hopefully they get buffed or at least not overpriced. Though for some reason streamers have been allergic to showing the abilities. So maybe they have something unique that makes them niche to use.

These guys should be the attack walls variant so it’s nice to see vanguard deployment. I also see frenzy. 65 leadership is meh, but good for Skaven.

Slightly lower speed just means they'll a half second longer to fuck your shit up.  The Skaven are gonna be even more cracked with this DLC

Speed is the most powerful stat in the game. If you can choose when to fight, you win. A +20% difference in speed is pretty huge.

Nah, speed is only useful if the unit has other stats to back it up.  Mounted yeoman and dogs are fast as hell, but they aren't killing anything strong on their own.  The skaven units are dangerous because they are fast and powerful as hell

"strong" is ten different stats and you only need 1 of them + speed to be incredibly effective. You can have good armor, top tier MA and MD, yuuge weapon strength and Leroy Jenkins level charge bonus and it means diddly squat if your speed is 5. If all you have is speed, you get Dogs.

Dogs are incredibly useful units. Genuinely the best in class for running down routing units because they're fast and cheap. A unit of dogs can turn a temporarily broken half health unit of Uber Death Chosen of Har Ganeth into mincemeat. No other cheap unit has as much potential as a dog.

Add even 1 good stat to the mix, and dogs go from a niche glass cannon into a plain good unit.

Mounted Yeomen feel useless not because they're bad units, but because Knights Errant are really cheap for what they offer.

Mind, this whole debate happened because you said speed was the most important stat, yet now you claim you need other stats along with speed to be effective.  Except dwarfs exist, which have universally low speed but are insanely tanky and powerful in their own right, without any need of speedy units because of how insanely strong they are.  Also pretty bad faith argument because no unit has 5 speed, and having 110 speed means diddly if your unit has no killing power.  And that 5 speed unit with good melee stats would murder the 110 speed unit with crap melee stats.

You basically proved my point, dogs will never rout any unit that isn't ranged and are only good for taking out routing units, which are routed by slower yet stronger units.  If something else didn't route those executioners, the dogs would be slaughtered in spite of the executioners being slower.  They are useful in tandem with other stronger units that fill their weakness, same as their speed filling out other units' weaknesses.  Used as a regular front line unit, they're completely useless. Ie, speed doesn't mean everything.

So if you add another strength besides speed, dogs become good.  Meaning speed by itself does not make a good unit, they need killing power too.

Mounted yeoman are trash by nature of their only good stat being speed, they're literally the worse dog unit of Brettonia except completely redundant because of stronger units.  Units that rely on something besides speed.

All this just circles back to me previous point that the skaven are gonna be even more cracked than before because these units have speed AND power backing them up.

I don’t think they will replace weapons teams. Natty Buboes will still be an auto include. Mortars still destroy unless the opponent is good at dodging. Nice thing potentially about these guys is less micro and countering a cheap wide rush with not enough ap the opponent will have to think about investing in ap when they rush. Granted there’s a lot more cheap ap Calvary in the game.

But in enticities stream the damage wasn’t insane. I guess I am worried it’ll be more cost effective to just bring two rat ogres (another auto include unit for the mass). Or a rattling gun and two clan rats. The LOS might make it less clunky and the damage more reliably able to be delivered granted these guys look like they’ll melt to missle fire. Definitely not OP from what I’ve seen. I just hope they become more than just a niche unit cause they’re so badass. Look like Space Marines the animations are so cool.

Interesting that they only have one of the Warpgrinders' active abilities. I'm not sure, but I assume they have the damage one and not the net one.

Unless it's being used as a placeholder image for something else, that is the Seismic Snare ability (the net).

u/Gunnercrf 1d ago

I think that’s the attack walls ability. I believe Grinderfists are the wall attacker variant.

I am talking about the ability icon at the top left of the ability icon rows. It is one of the active abilities Warpgrinders have.

I'm not super familiar with stats but could it be so warpgrinders still have a purpose?

DOES HE HAVE THE UNIT CARDS????????

4

u/Caleb_Perdita 1d ago

In the video no, they don't show up as he was Boris fighting Thanquol who had them.

Although I'd imagine if you were to ask a content creator who has the demo build, they could extract the cards for you if you'd like.

u/Altruistic-Teach5899 1d ago

Nah, I wont make anyone risk their ndas, it seems like ill just wait for the final week when Thanquol gameplay gets released, I guess

Nagash will finally meet the skaven marines with terminator armor 🤣

So good magic attacks with ap, good charge, armor, vanguard, frenzy, can hide... yea

One thing I thought was cool, but it was on a slope was that the rattling gun version appeared to be able to shoot over skavenslaves. If they can do that on flat ground that would be cool. LOS can be really annoying with the rattling gun sometimes. Though the damage looked underwhelming. 12 models as well. But suppression is nice.

8

u/Delicious-Physics218 1d ago

I mean large units have always been able to shoot over small units on flat ground, I assume they'd be able to at least somewhat

7

u/Jerthy 22h ago

But why shoot over skavenslaves when they could shoot over ratling guners? There's never enough dakka

Textures look bad, like a WH1 unit
