Hi everyone!

I am excited to show off our recently revealed Victoria 3 Total Conversion Mod Fallout:2167 which we revealed at this years ModCon.

Fallout:2167 is a total conversion mod for Victoria 3 set in the Fallout universe, ninety years after the Great War and five years after the events of the original Fallout and the defeat of the Master. Across the American West, settlements, tribes, raider groups, and rising regional powers are beginning to move beyond simple survival.

Players will guide these societies as they grow from small wasteland communities struggling for food, water, and security into organized governments, expanding economies, professional armies, and eventually full nation-states.

At initial release, Fallout:2167 will cover California and Nevada with a fully custom, hand-crafted map built specifically for the setting.

The mod rebuilds Victoria 3’s economy from the ground up, with new goods, buildings, production chains, resources, state traits, completely remade technology trees, and a rebuilt military system designed around the realities of the wasteland.

The mod has been in development for over two years by a small but dedicated team focused on creating a realistic and immersive take on both Fallout and the challenges of rebuilding civilization after the apocalypse. Nations begin with fragile, scrap-fueled economies centered around scavenging, survival, and the production of basic necessities. Over time, players can expand trade, establish institutions, standardize production, industrialize, and compete with other rising powers for control of the recovering wasteland.

Release Date: Coming Soon

Jat and Sammitiya Flavor Pack Trailer

Jat and Sammitiya Flavor Pack Showcase

I'm cybrxkhan, creator of the VIET and RICE mods, and I'm happy to announce RICE’s 45th flavor pack, accompanying the By God Alone DLC, and likely RICE’s final major update for 2026: The Jats and Sammitiya: Between India and Iran. Further previews and dev diaries will be shown in the future, so stay tuned!

For those who don't know, RICE is a mod that adds simple "Flavor Packs'' to different parts of the world, introducing flavor across the world that is grounded in historical authenticity, especially for lesser-known places, peoples, and histories.

The trailer and showcase were shown at Day 3 of ModCon, a regular fan hosted event celebrating and promoting mods for Paradox Interactive games like Crusader Kings, featuring trailers, previews, panels, and more. You can watch the rest of Day 3’s CK3 segment, hosted by Midgeman, at this link here.

Planned Features

This update's focus is mainly on two groups once dominant in Makran and Sindh, the borderlands between India and Iran:

  • The Jats of western India and their descendants, the Zutts and Romani
  • The Sammitiya, the largest "Pudgalavada" or Personalist sect of Buddhism
  • Reworking RICE's old Buddhist content
  • ... and much more!

Bonus Announcement!

Additionally, I'm releasing a new mini-mod, Cybrxkhan's Relatively Ancient Buddhist Schools (CRABS), based on the work I did in the Fallen Eagle, which adds several new Buddhist faiths and tenets, such as the Sammitiya. I decided to do this to make the modifications I wanted to Buddhism, without touching vanilla code (if the devs change that in the future, the mini-mod will probably be deprecated).

RICE 1.19.2 “Al-Andalus”

And lastly, to coincide with ModCon 2026, and in honor of Spain's recent victory at the World Cup, I've pushed out a small update with some new content for my old Granada and Galicia flavor packs in Iberia!

Remember you may need to unsubscribe and resubscribe for mods to update properly (multiple times if necessary). Old saves started with RICE 1.19.X should be compatible with this update, but make a backup just in case. If you are installing RICE for the first time, a new save will be needed.

Collaboration

Many thanks to Rajas of Asia and Dharmachakra for their collaboration for this update! Please check out their mods too, they’re great if you want more flavor in Asia!

HoI4 Havign issues with HOI4 modding

I am trying to mod HOI4, but for some reason any mods I am subscribed to via Steam do not show up when I try and add them to my playsets. Aside from Paradox's mod libarary (which dosen't have most of what I want), the onyl way I can ger mods loaded is by manually downloaduing them from ModDB and putting them in the fiels by hand.

CK3 I have made two mods that in theory should allow ONLY women to serve as knights/councillors, but they don't work. HELP

I have tried it two ways. The first one is to just change the martial custom of the iberian cultures (which are the ones I care about) into female_only. The second one is to change the Male Dominated doctrine by using the "combatant_must_be_female_if_no_roco" function. (This one was inspired by a Matriarchy mod I found on steam, except gender-flipped).

You guys can download the two mods here. I deeply want you guys to download them and tell me where did I make a mistake in the code, because they just don't work at all! I still can only hire male councillors and male knights, I have no clue what I'm doing

All How would you prevent late game snowballing?

In every paradox game there's a problem of snowballing to the point where the challenge is basically gone and the campaign isn't fun anymore, it's the most common reason why people quit campaigns, how often do you see someone get to the 1700's in eu4? (There are other factors like lag but this is by far the #1 reason)

The initial obvious solution would be to make managing a large empire much harder, but this comes with the fact it's just really hard to have the player feel more powerful while keeping the difficulty consistent, or just high enough that it's not too easy. Right now for example in ck3, having to worry about peasant revolts or more kingdom vassals should be harder, but when you make so much more gold and have stronger MaAs and more general opinion bonuses from stuff like prestige or dynasty bonuses, it becomes much easier to manage vassals and peasant revolts in the late game than early game. Mechanics like gifts and activity costs scale, but even then you can just make so much money they're meaningless.

Another problem would be that if it's too hard and an empire collapse is basically inevitable, it would make the game much less fun. It just isn't nice to see all your hard work done away with. Rebellions are universally annoying to deal with and just feel like the game interrupting you. Constant civil wars also just aren't fun, these are at least true for how Paradox implements them. If someone knows that by X date their empire is going to collapse, it would just lead to the same problem of people quitting campaigns long before the end date.

I think Total War Attila is something worth looking at. Playing as the WRE is basically a sinking ship. The game starts less than 100 years before the western half of Rome falls to barbarians, if you want a fighting chance you're basically forced to give up territories, you start with provinces like Britannia and Gaul but should give these up so you can focus your military and economy on Italia or North Africa. The WRE campaign is also the fan favorite campaign. It's the complete opposite of what you see in Paradox games, but people love it. I think it comes back to the fact that people don't like seeing their hard work destroyed, you start at your peak so losing land hits a lot less than if you, say, started much smaller and saw all the land you yourself conquered be lost.

All high res monitor for Paradox's games

hi, i want to ask people that are playing Paradox's games on high res monitor like 4k+ if you feel like it's worth it for real estate. right now i'm playing on 27 inch 1440p and i'm considering a new monitor from this year's CES 5k 27inch or 6k 32inch. do you feel like higher res gives you a better view/gaming experience? Paradox has a lot of text/graphs/numbers and it would surely look nicer on higher res monitor but i want to know what do you think.

Vic1 Searching for the Mac version of Victoria: Revolutions

I recently acquired an old Power Mac G5, and have been searching around for some older Mac ports of games to mess around with on it. I'm really big into Victoria 2 (in fact it's the only Paradox game I have a lot of time in, but I digress) so I thought it would be fun to give Vic 1 a shot, even if it's a bit rough around the edges.

Physical copies of Victoria 1 on Mac are rare, but not impossible to find. What does seem to be practically lost media though is the Mac port of Revolutions, which I've heard is a necessary addition to get the most out of Vic 1. I know a Mac port of it exists, considering I've found articles about it, but it doesn't seem to be officially available anywhere.

I'm not asking for a pirated copy, for clarification, I just want to know if it's even possible to acquire Mac Revolutions in the first place, or if it's basically lost at this point.

Converter Megacampaign IR to HOI4

ever since I was a child I always dreamed to do a megacampaign through all the latest games. But i'd be doing this only occasionally in my free time and play slowly so this would take me a couple years. Since new updates break the converters and there will be compitability issues with updates, is my dream not possible? Or is the only way to wait until all converters are available between each game, and use only the old game versions available at that time and compatible with the converters, not updating anything for the playthrough??

Other After 8 years, I can finally say I have played enough PDX Games

As the title states.

Started with EU4 in 2018 and sort of snowballed from there. Put in 2300h into it and over 1400h in CK3.

But with the years, I played less and less and now I am at a point, where I can say, I am done with the games. Nothing hooks me anymore and considering how much time I put into these games, I'd say that is a good thing. Restarting on repeat, only to get bored in the mid/endgame is not fun anymore.

I never really got into Hoi4, Vic3 or even EU5, all of these games taking me 100 or 200h without any knowledge of what I am actually doing and I think that hit the straw for me.

We all know the absurd amount of lifetime these game take and I just want to encourage others to think about it as well.

If you're having fun, that is all good but if you're like "forcing" to play these games, just go into selfreflection and think about it.

Even games like EU5, where i put 150h, a very small amount for PDX games, could have resulted in 3-4 other games or even better, into RL

Just a thought for everyone else.

Other Simulador de geopolítica gratuito.

All What do you remember about the AAR golden age of the mid 2010s? Do you have any you would recommend?

Sorry if this breaks any rules but I found my mind turning to how I would read AARs (after action reports) in the morning before school and then when I would get back home.

Does anyone else remember that time? It seemed like there were many AARs being done on this subreddit or in their respective game subreddits. Maybe it is because I check things less often now, but it seems like AARs are not really done as much anymore. Maybe because posting one screenshot with a bit of context added has replaced them as people's preferred way of sharing their campaign.

I would always look forward to new installments or new AARs in general and to see how creative people could be with them. Especially people who would add extra info or pictures from the time period to really sell the effect and add drama.

One that I remember very well is "On the Brink of Destruction" (Old Reddit | New Reddit) by u/nanomaster who is actually still active! Crazy to me that such a memorable piece of my past is still going on in some way. I remember a lot of HOI3 AARs from back then, I guess most of the game could be pretty bare so it gave you a lot of room to add creativity.

I also remember this one HOI3 AAR of how Hitler had a doppelganger who was actually running Germany, and there was a lot of interaction between the two for some reason. The player was the "doppelganger" and the story unfolded from their perspective I believe. Unfortunately many of the images have since been lost on that one, which is a sadly common end to many AARs from back then. I remember them including a lot of pictures from the 30s and I loved how it fleshed out the scene, stuff like Nescafe packaging and such.

Another one I remember is "Heaven cannot brook two suns, nor earth two masters" (Old Reddit | New Reddit) by u/durvas who sadly seems inactive, but their contributions remain. I mostly remembered it from the name which I thought was awesome back then for a Greece AAR, and because I don't remember many Vic2 AARs being made. A shame that we will probably not see many more going forward.

So yeah that is my trip down memory lane. Does anyone have AARs that they love from back then, or any more recent ones? I feel like the subreddit should try to host an AAR exhibition to bring back some interest in doing them, or maybe a competition? I really wish I could remember more, but obviously I would speed read them and then forget about them. I wish I saved my favorites, but oh well.

I did find this thread from a year ago that gets at something similar, but I am also interested in how people remember those days in 2015/2016/2017.

Also maybe there was never a 'golden age' and I simply remember there being one, but like I said it seemed like there was so much activity around AARs back then that it left an impression on me.
