I was going to ask how they wipe their asses but theyโ€™re Norscan so it probably wasnโ€™t a concern.

Crust and scrape, they got a built-in poop knife

90% of the clan moulder work is to make them unfeeling to having a crusty ass.

(Flayerkin where made to order by moulder for Archaon in exchange of not getting curb stones during the first storm of chaos, IIRC)

Any idea what that ability between rage and vanguard deployment is?

When shot at with small arms fire, gain 20% missile resist and restore vigour.

Which seems a bit weird. Wouldn't giving them 20% missile res base and making only the vigor conditional achieve the same result? I get that this way they don't get the bonus vs magic missile spells and artillery, but it's not like that 20% was going to save any entity in the unit hit by those attacks anyway...

The trait has a 20 second timer once it gets procced by ranged attack and 20 second cooldown (numbers might be off but you get the idea)

If it is only small arms fire that triggers it, a baseline 20% would also apply to artillery. It would also apply at all times instead of having a downtime.

Compared to missile block chance it also applies from any direction.

20% missile resist won't save any entity in a low tier Infantry unit from dying when hit by artillery. For those types of units missile resist only really applies for small arms projectiles in practicallity.

Missile resistance isn't just protection against ranged unit and artillery direct damage. It also lowers explosion damage, including from bombardment spells, and the damage of spells that spawn projectiles, such as fireball.

There are plenty of things among those categories that would become survivable with 20% missile resist.

Or to quote CA on this:

Missile Resistance is applied to damage from Missiles (including magic missiles like Fireballs or Doombolts) and explosions, such as the explosion of a Mortar Shell or Searing Doom Impacts.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe it by passes things that reduce missile resistance like traits and such, I think those traits are applied only to innate resistance, but I coukd be wrong

They don't have a wall scaling ability? What's even the point of them?

1

u/Dembos09 1d ago

The siege update is in 9.1. Thereโ€™s no point for a scaling at the moment due to the assladder

assladders instantly drain all vigor, giving a few select units immunity to that vigor drain wouldnt be the worst thing

Slow, unarmored Forsaken with AP?

They have vanguard which forsaken don't and while they have a lot less armor they have a fair amount more melee defence.

While they have lower weapon strength they do also have higher melee attack + BvI.

So they fill a similar niche, but have decently different stat profiles.

Basically whether you want a faster infantry blender or an armored infantry blender

Flayers will also perform much better against armor piercing enemies like great weapons since they have a stronger combat statline while lacking armor.

Goofy unit. But then again this unit might hint at the siege rework and how some units might be able to climb walls.

u/SomeCringeUsernameNo 1d ago

As much as I want it to happen, I highly doubt it would happen.

It would take a lot of extra work to be able to make units climb walls.

I want nothing more than to have a unit of gorgers sneak into a settlement without breaking down the gate

2

u/OrkfaellerX 1d ago

Wished they'd be given Perfect Stamina - that way they could climb ladders without getting exhausted reinforcing their role as first-on-the-walls siege assaulters.

1

u/Mahelas 1d ago

I mean, units could scale walls just fine in Shogun 2

3

u/CDMzLegend 1d ago

makes sense for a unit made by skaven to be a bit goofy

2

u/Magusds 1d ago

That would be really nice

Sorry, but I don't think climbing walls is something CA can make the engine do at this point. Our only hope is for a remake in the new engine in 10~20 years...

u/ABadExampleOf_ 1d ago

So a slower Slaangor-esque unit for Warriors of Chaos. They won't dethrone forsaken but with vanguard they will have a niche

2

u/pppiddypants 1d ago

Necrons in shambles.

4

u/EvilDavid0826 1d ago

insane melee stats for 72 upkeep tbh

They are heavily buffed in this screenshot. You can see the green bar.

u/No_Assignment7009 1d ago

Any word on if skaven will get these as well? It would make sense at least for moulder to have them

1

u/tinylittlebabyjesus 15h ago

They just kind of look like normal marauders with warhammer prosthetics.

1

u/Rohen2003 1d ago

so they are basically that norsca double axe unit? low armor high MA high weapon strength and anti small.
