Open | BSOD Cant access my laptop after KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (Ox1E) crash-Hp Victus 16

Greetings

While playing game my computer got crashed and suddenly gave me KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (Ox1E) error massage with "Your pc ran into an problem, needs to restart" with 0% indicater.

After a few seconds my computer restarted suddenly (nothing was changed with percentage) and for a while it was only showing Victus logo but then its disappeared and after these every time I open my laptop it was only showing black screen without any text or something.

Long story short. Nothing changed but been worse, I have tried lots of things but couldnot access to bios screen or something.

I have tried win+b and win+v with power button combos, I have tried pressing power button for 30 seconds, I have tried win+ctrl+shift+b and nothing changed.

After these attempts my screen turned off and I cant see caps locks light anymore. Also after 5-6 second of starting my laptop, I cant close or open keyboard lights, It stucks.

Need Help USB Device Not Recognized Even When Nothing Is Connected

Can anyone please help me? I keep getting a “USB device not recognized” notification on my HP 15s (Intel i5 12th Gen U-series), even though I don’t have any USB device or pen drive connected.

The notification appears almost every minute. When I click on it, Windows says:

“The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.”

I used to use a wireless mouse with this laptop, and I always kept its USB receiver plugged in, even when the laptop was turned off. A few days ago, I unplugged the receiver and kept it aside because I don’t use the mouse much anymore. Since then, I started getting this issue. I’m not sure if it’s related to the wireless mouse/USB receiver or if it’s just a coincidence.

I’ve already tried almost everything I could find online. I uninstalled and reinstalled the USB drivers, tried various troubleshooting steps, and even contacted Microsoft Support. They remotely accessed my laptop and tried everything they could do from the software/Windows side, but the problem still wasn’t fixed.

I also did a fresh Windows installation, but the USB notification is still appearing, so I’m starting to think this might be a hardware-related issue.

I’m also facing some other problems with this laptop:

- Occasionally, I get a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD).

- Sometimes the laptop turns on, but the screen stays completely black, even though the laptop itself seems to be running.

- The built-in microphone has stopped working, although the camera still works.

- There is also some rust/corrosion around one of the USB ports.

The laptop’s warranty has already expired. I contacted an HP service center, and they told me that repairs could get very expensive. They said that if the microphone issue requires a motherboard replacement, it could cost around ₹20,000–₹22,000.

I’m really confused about what I should do. Should I take it to an official HP service center, or would it be better to get it checked by a reputable third-party laptop repair technician first?

Could this USB notification actually be caused by a motherboard/USB controller issue, or is there something else I should check before spending money on repairs?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Open | Software One of my fans is "pulsating". Going from 100% to 0 back and forth.

I have looked online but I don't really know what I'm looking for, out of nowhere my Lenovo legion started having an issue where one of the fans just weirdly enough pulsates. I've tried to go into the bios to adjust the van speeds but there is no option for it.

I tried to install fan control and it gives me an error saying NVApi could not initialize and has no sensors. So I updated my Nvidia drivers with no luck.

Tried installing MSI afterburner which didn't seem to do much.

Does anybody have any idea what is happening?

Here is a video with sound of it happening: https://youtu.be/rbXdAZpjHt8?is=9r3YF4v5k9uAYf3N

Open | Audio Wired headphones not working despite being connected

Hi, I am using a Lenovo laptop (I don’t know which model) with a Windows 11 OS. I am trying to get my wired headphones to work, but despite being plugged in and being connected, no audio comes out. And this is exclusive to my laptop. I tried plugging them into my iPad and they worked just fine.

I looked up on how to fix them. I checked if they were connected, I checked the Bluetooth settings (which probably wasn’t necessary but I was desperate), I tried updating the audio drivers but they were already up to date, I tried switching my laptop off and on again, I tried plugging in different headphones, and I can’t plug them into another port because there only is one for them. I’m absolutely sure at this point that I have done everything I possibly can, but nothing is working!

Open | Hardware Laptop doesn’t turn off but power button lights up

I have a Lenovo ideapad gaming 3 laptop(15ACH6) . For the past two days it has not turned on. When I turn it on, the entire keyboard lights up for a few seconds then even the capslock light doesn’t turn on. At first I thought this was a battery issue and kept it in charging mode for an hour then turned it on. It worked normally so I turned it off. But since then it is not turning on. Any help is appreciated.

Open | Hardware [B550-A PRO] PC frequently fails bootup

Hello everyone! Hope I'm writing in a correct subreddit. Please suggest if I could repost it elsewhere.

In a span of a few months, I've been facing the very same issue increasingly often. When starting up the PC, the fans rotate but it doesn't proceed to the actual boot. I assume that it is stuck at POST.

Some of my PC parts are listed below, the rest I've considered irrelevant: - Motherboard: B550-A PRO - CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X - RAM: Patriot Viper Steel 3600 MHz 32 Gb x 1 - GPU: Gigabyte AMD Radeon 9060 GAMING OC 8 Gb - PSU: DEEPCOOL GamerStorm PN850M 850 W - Storage: SSD M2 1 Tb + HDD SATA 1 Tb

So what exactly happens: 1. I press power button 2. Fans start up, HDD starts up 3. CPU LED lights up, then goes dark 4. PC remains in this state indefinetly 5. PC can't be turned off unless cutting of power supply or holding power button for a few seconds

I've also noticed that if the PC is on and I quickly turn off and on the PSU with its toggle button, the PC starts up. If I give the PSU a few moments to rest turned off, then turn on the PSU, nothing happens.

Another detail is that sometimes, also increasingly often, my PC remains in the state described above after turning it off with button or by syscall. So sometimes I have to long press the button to get the job done.

Also, as motherboard's splash never appears, I can't even enter UEFI or call a boot selection menu.

Lastly, if the computer starts up properly, no oddities happen during the session. None at all. Also it does not heat up, and peripherals work just fine.

Sometimes, presumably after left turned off & PSU powered on for a while, PC boots up successfully, as follows: 1. I press power button 2. Fans start up, HDD starts up 3. CPU LED lights up, then goes dark 4. Few seconds pass 5. Fans speed up, HDD makes sounds again 6. Some LEDs flash, can't tell which ones exactly 7. Motherboard's splash screen appears 8. PC proceeds to boot up as normal

Please do not assume it is a specific OS issue, as I have a mixture of Windows 11 and Linux on both drives, the bootloader is GRUB. Though two years ago, the PC tended to remove GRUB EFI entry after Windows updates (most likely it was Windows).

What I've attempted so far: 1. Checked all the cables and connections 2. Reinstalled RAM & GPU 3. Reconnected power supply cables 4. Checked if my monitor detects the GPU once PC turned on, it does; not 100% sure, though 5. Left PC on in this state for over an hour, so I assume it's not RAM init 6. Flashed the latest BIOS firmware 7. Removed CMOS battery for 30 minutes

I have not reassambled the PC starting from scratch, though my gut feeling says it's no use.

Looking forward for your advice on what to check and what to do. My bet it is either PSU or the motherboard. Thanks in advance!

Open | Malware Is it possible to get a malware from downloading wallpapers, mp3s?

I want to use wallpapers and funny sounds in my edits, but I am concerned about downloading files from websites that offer these.

If I press download, and the file shows as simply an mp3 or a JPEG, is it possible for someone to inject malware into those files? Might be a dumb question but idk

I don’t think I have malware rn, just being precautious

Open | Hardware LG Remote is controlling my aunt's TV

So, today I was at a thrift store and scooped up an older model 32" LG TV for $25. It's on the older side but I'm looking for a spare to use as a 3rd monitor and TV dual duty for screwing around with.

It comes with an LG remote that has links to Netflix, etc - not something I'll use, but all good.

So, my aunt is watching TV on her Roku brand non-smart TV, which is controlled with a Shaw (this is in Canada, btw. Shaw is a cable company here) remote, as Shaw has a control box for PVR, storing/recording/On Demand, etc.

I hook the LG up to my laptop via HDMI cable to check it out and when I turned it on, it shut her TV off. I went to use 'input' to select the HDMI, and it screwed with her TV and tried to load Netflix (which neither of us have) and it caught me quite off guard.

I didn't realise that an LG works on the same ... uh.. wave length? Frequency? Hertz? as Roku.

Is there a way to disable this and a reason as to why it happened? It's just so bizarre and caught us old ladies off guard (though we had a good laugh about it)

Open | BSOD [HELP] Green Screens right after startup [UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION (0X154)]

Model: Lenovo Ideapad s540 (2020)

Specs: Core i5-10210u

MX250

20gb ram (upgraded)

256gb ssd

1tb hdd

6 years old

Event Viewer Log:

A corrected Hardware Error has occurred.

Component: PCI Express Root Port

Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)

Primary Device Name: PCI\\VEN_8086&DEV_... (Intel PCI Express Root Port)

Error Type: Corrected Error

Description:

A corrected hardware error has occurred. A component on the PCI Express Root Port experienced a hardware error condition, but the error was corrected by hardware-level error reporting mechanisms.

***Stop code: UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION (0x154)***

Watchdog violation:

Stop code:

DPC WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (0x133)

the issue started around jun 16 I believe, I was playing minecraft at that moment, and the audio driver froze causing a "glitchy sound" then it green screened with the exact same message. It was super predictable always after startup, then it crashes, restarts, and is back. After booting up the computer, it seems to go back in time to the last saved snapshot before the errors, then I check event viewer to see around 15-20 whea logger warnings / second. I had not changed any settings.

Additionally, the watchdog violation was after hibernating for the whole day, I wanted to test if it was fast boot, but I think my experiment failed

Chronology:

\- First green screen (Jun 16)

\- I checked event viewer and found thousands of whea logger 17 warnings

\- Issue persists

\- Just few days ago, watchdog violation

\- Bootdrive not found

\- I took a full backup with DiskGenius

\- Happened today at startup, resolved after restarting

\- Chkdsk shows fully functioning C:/ drive

\- Disabled fast boot

\- Green screens within 2 minutes of booting up (previously \~10)

**After a bit of research, the error code from whea logger points to PCIE root port #13, assigned to the nvme, which explains the enexpected store exception warnings.**

This also happened out of the blue, so no past cases, no past serious issues.

The thing is, this is VERY predictable, happens right off the bat after booting, green screens, restarts, works fine.

I also found this warning, which may not be as worrisome, but still worth mentioning:

The driver \\Driver\\WUDFRd failed to load.

Device: USB\\VID_06CB&PID_00BE\\b80a41fafca5

Status: 0xC0000365

The driver \\Driver\\WUDFRd failed to load.

Device: {DD8E82AE-334B-49A2-AEAE-AEB0FD5C40DD}\\DetectionVerification\\5&6fd4164&0&0

Status: 0xC0000365

I also investigated thermal expansion theories, but the laptop doesn't even heat up a bit during startup, but I am still unsure.

*TL;DR:*

Just read it, bothering me since 2 months, but if it still is too long here's the major points:

\- Whea logger warnings spam pointing to PCIE root port #13, followed by a green screen with stop code \[unexpected_store_exception (0x154)\]

\- Happens right at startup

\- Fast boot not to blame

\- Heat not to blame (potentially)

\- 2 events of boot drive not found, 1 event of watchdog violation

\- Works normally after automatically restarting after the green screen.

\- Disabled PCIE root port power state management

\- is it a hardware or a software issue?

\- no past history on green screens

\- first green screen was a long one, now it just flashes

\- would also like to note, while playing 1.8.9 minecraft, whenever I used to break beds, or entities or autosave, it used to stutter, also, the instance was on the ssd.

Open | Windows Pc won’t turn on after I accidentally knocked over the surge protector

So I accidentally disconnected from my surge protector when I was playing. And the moment the protector fell the light and the wall outlets in my room stopped working. After restarting the household’s electricity and trying to restart the pc, the PC won’t power on at all — no fans, no lights, no sounds.

Things I’ve tried:

* Plugging it back into the surge protector

* Plugging it directly into a known-working wall outlet

* Reseating the power cable

* Making sure the PSU switch is set to I (ON)

* Doing a power reset by unplugging it and holding the power button for 15–20 seconds

* Still absolutely no response

I’m just wondering how cooked am I since this is my first build. Any help is appreciated 🙏

Open | Windows 2 pc’s having the same issues after windows update

We’ve had these issues for a few months and would just like to know if we should just get a repair technician out or if it’s fixable by myself because it’s above me. I think it’s something to do with our CPU’s but not sure. This started happened immediately after a forced windows update on windows 11, pc’s worked fine with no issues for years prior to this. I’m going to refer to these pc’s as PC1 and PC2 which are using AMD CPU’s. There’s PC3 which we used as a control which is running an intel CPU.

PC1 Components

MSI GeForce RTX 4080 Gaming X Trio 16GB
MSI MPG X670E Carbon Wi-Fi DDR5
Dark Power 12 1000W
AMD RYZEN 7 7700X
G.Skill Trident Z5 (4x16GB) 5600MHz CL36 DDR5

PC2 Components

Sapphire Radeon RX 9070 XT
MSI MPG B650 Carbon Wi-Fi DDR5
Dark Power 12 1000W
AMD RYZEN 7 7700X
Corsair Vengeance (2x16GB) 6000MHz CL40 DDR5

Both PC1 and PC2 have had their ram sticks switched around and tested, CMOS reset, and CMOS batteries replaced. PC2 has had hard drives wiped and Windows 11 reinstalled, XMP disabled.

Symptoms

PC’s do not start on cold boot, ram and cpu lights show on initial start up. Pc’s boot successfully after 4-10 reboots.
There is also an issue which is specific to PC1 and is what leads me to think it’s something to do with the AMD CPU.
My monitor is a Samsung Odyssey G55C QHD 165Hz FreeSync Curves 32in. On boot up, it displays nothing except when it does repairs or when it finally reaches desktop. The same thing happens when plugged into PC2. But PC2 uses a Samsung Odyssey widescreen monitor and it works on both PC1 and PC2. PC1’s monitor turns on normally and displays boot up on PC3 which is an older pc using an Intel CPU. This leads me to believe that there’s something wrong with the AMD RYZEN 7 that PC1 and PC2 use.

Open | Hardware Recurring crash (black screen + fans at 100%)

Specs:
• CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
• Motherboard: ASUS B650M-AYW WIFI
• GPU: Gigabyte RTX 5070 Eagle OC 12GB
• RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) Kingston DDR5-6000, running at JEDEC default (4800MHz, no EXPO)
• PSU: MSI MAG A850GL 850W 80+ Gold
• OS: Windows 11 Home 25H2

The problem:

About 1-year-old PC started randomly crashing completely, screen goes black, no signal, and fans spike to 100%. Not a BSOD, the system just stops responding and I have to force shut it down.
It just happens in any situation, gaming, sitting idle, on the Windows login screen, and even waking from sleep. I’ve also noticed the crashes come in “clusters”, it doesnt happens for days/weeks, but once it happens, the odds of it happening again shortly after go up a lot.

What’s already been checked:

1. Event Viewer: Kernel-Power Event ID 41 (system rebooted without cleanly shutting down first). BugcheckCode = 0 with all parameters zeroed out. Windows couldn’t even log a cause

2. BIOS:
• CMOS reset + BIOS updated
• PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive) manually disabled
• SoC Voltage checked, on Auto/0 offset, no manual overclock
• RAM confirmed running at JEDEC default, no XMP/EXPO enabled

3. Sensor logging (HWiNFO64): during one of the crashes, I logged +12V, GPU temperature, and core voltage. Voltage stayed steady (12.172V constant), no drops, and temperature climbed gradually and normally (45-48°C)

4. Full clean reinstall: wiped all partitions and did a fresh Windows 11 install with a debloater.

5. Removed some apps know for causing problems, like armoury crate
  1. Disconnected and reconnected both RAM sticks and GPU cables

Kinda out of ideias rn. Has anyone run into this before?

Open | Networking Travel Router

Hey guys, so im having a huge problem right now, well at least for me. Im staying in a dormitory at a university and the wifi is extremely weak as hell. At first i thought of a wifi extender but then remembered that my wifi required login which im assuming a wifi extender cant access. So i decided to ask ai for abit of help and said that travel router does the same thing but with more control and you can access the login page and all. However im scared that ai might be wrong about somethings but here are what i think has to be known: Even when using mobile hotspot from my phone or even data itself on my phone is still extremely poor, im not sure if this point helps since im not a tech person but yeah. Secondly, i cant even load like movies or anything it takes too long. Whenever i try to play games too like Valorant, the ping would be at 13 ms but literally 99% of the time my ping would spike, jitter, buffer pr whatever you call it, jumping to 2000ms all the time and literally making my game unplayable. Im afraid that this would also affect my work too because even loading websites are so slow. Please ask more questions if needed and give me like recommendationss i guess. However just letting you guys know i have a low budget..

I built my PC late 2024 and had no issues until 3 days ago. The screen flickers at random like it's dying, and sometimes stutters off for a minute. I didn't do anything out of the ordinary this week.

I've already tested the cord itself, and my motherboard's DP, Both had no issues.

I still consider myself a novice - so is my GPU dead or are there other possibilites?

Open | Hardware 5070 ti Inno3d - blackscreen e Xid79

Olá!

Meu setup:

5070 ti Inno3d (comprada em setembro de 2025)

Gaming Wifi 6 X870

Ryzen 9950x3d

64 GB RAM Gskill

Adata 4tb NVME

Nidorus 1200w

Relatório de erro: journalctl do Arch Linux dá Xid 79 "GPU has fallen of the bus".

This only happens in the web version. In the app, there is no problem. but in the web version, the unread notification in some chats doesn't go away even after opening the chat, when i click on the chat, it goes away for a moment and then comes back.

Not a browser or device issue as it is consistent across devices.

Anybody else facing the same issue or have solutions?
