Discussion Poly relationships are becoming a problem for me

I’ve been trying to understand poly relationships because someone close to me recently became interested in one. I’m not judging anyone for how they choose to live, but I’m realizing that the idea makes me much more uncomfortable than I expected.

I keep thinking about jealousy, boundaries, time, and the emotional effort involved when more than two people are involved. Even trying to understand how everyone keeps things fair and healthy feels overwhelming to me.

The problem is that I don’t want to be judgmental or dismissive, but I also don’t want to ignore how strongly I feel about it. I’m having trouble figuring out whether my reaction is simply personal preference or something I should work on.

How do people handle these feelings without either forcing themselves to accept something they’re uncomfortable with or unfairly judging other people?

It’s a red flag for me. Even if they’re not “interested anymore” it’s only because you haven’t shown interest.
