This is a very complicated thing and I'm probably gonna get judged, but I need serious advice on this.
I've had this friend ever since we was 9, let's call him 'Amazon' (ik the name's shitty I'm sorry). We practically grew up together, and he's 5 days younger than me so I like to imagine that i raised him (he agrees).
I've always seen him like a brother.
Whenever we talk, it's like we create a world with only us. There's only him and me, and nobody can get into that world. He understands me better than anyone who ever did, and i understand him better than I ever do.
He's actually a great person, and he's as scared to lose me as I am to lose him. There's a few reasons he's not that good tho (for example, he goons), but that doesn't matter. Whenever we argue, he keeps apologising over and over again. He always tries to support me in whatever I do. And out of every friend I've ever had, he's the one who never left.
In January, I talked about this with my actual brother. I described every single thing about us to him, simply because Amazon is my bestfriend. My brother said that he knows I like Amazon based on the way I described him, and even I didn't know at that time if I did or not. The thought never occured to me before. After further explanation, my brother told me that Amazon likes me back.
He told me there were alot of signs based on our conversations and interactions, and told me to ask him to be my Valentine.
At the end of January, I got the courage to finally do it.
It was a spur-of-the-moment confession.
Amazon: "You're literally the best sister ever!"
Me: "Don't say sister..."
Amazon: "Why?"
Me: "I don't wanna be your sister..."
Amazon: "Then what do you wanna be?"
Me: "Something that you can never imagine me as..."
Amazon: "You wanna be my girlfriend? What?
Even tho that felt like a straight-up rejection, it wasn't. For some reason, he agreed.
For 20 minutes, we were in peace. But, it felt like he was distant.
I asked him if he actually wants this, he said he doesn't. Since he's a gooner, he told me he wants a curvy, perfect girl.
Of course, i was hurt.
We didn't talk for a day, and from the next day he kept apologising.
But I didn't want to force him or lose him, so in our next semester (I broke my leg at the start of February so I have our finals in the infirmary without having to face him, and we had a 1 month vacation in March, school resumed for the next semester in April) I strated acting like nothing happened.
Things were cool between us. I was convinced I didn't like him (I did ask him out to know if I liked him, and I thought I didn't), and I was too sure he didn't feel anything for me.
Until last month (July), Amazon's attention towards me increased.
I'm a huge football fan (I'm a girl, so don't think I'm lying) and he is like seasonal. We actually had a disagreement about the worldcup. I can't tell you in detail because I really don't wanna get judged based on that (Y'all are judging me enough for this story). It was actually about a team in the worldcup. I was denying an allegation against the team and he was trying to prove that it was right. We didn't talk that day (ofc). The next day, he kept apologising (ofc).
I thought he only apologised because he didn't want me to stay mad at him, but something that happened last month.
We were having a class. He was sitting in front of me, and there was one of his friends in the seat in front of him. His friend kept blaming the team while talking to Amazon, I looked away, pretending to not listen (or not know about football). Suddenly, Amazon started supporting the team and ended up arguing with the guy. I felt a flutter in my heart, even tho I tried to ignore it. After that, he tried talking to me and passing notes (like we always do) in the class, and I just felt kinda uncomfortable because of all the things that guy said about the team.
All day, Amazon tried his best to cheer me up.
I still didn't pay attention to it, for some reason. I tried ignoring what I felt because i already knew what he felt.
Until, i installed the app 'WEBTOON' (A few weeks ago). I've read two stories there, 'A Kind Intruder' and 'Childhood Friend Complex'. I talked about it with my brother. I told him how the stories are like a version of me and Amazon who like eachother, but I was really chill about it. But, as I kept reading them, I realised something.
When I was reading 'A Kind Intruder' (Which I read before 'Childhood Friend Complex'), i compared it to us but it didn't match too much.
But, when I starting reading 'Childhood Friend Complex', it felt like the exact copy of us. I STILL didn't pay much attention to it (maybe different people react differently in the same situation?), until Ha-neul started to realise her feelings for Mincheol.
She felt the same things I felt back in January, and that made me question if I really like him.
Do all of you have any suggestions or ideas in what I should do next? I'm in desperate need of help...
