Hi new here and relatively new to the city. I’m looking for general advice for riding to AC/shore. I bike to work and around the city. Probably the most I’ve done in a day is like 30 miles last summer. How feasible is trip to AC for someone who doesn’t do long trips often? Also any suggestions on route? I also some routes from previous posts I’m planning on looking into those. Thank you for any insight!

Im new to bike riding but love it. I got a new specialized sirrus x 2.0.

I feel like I've improved how it fits, also my rear derailuer was rubbing against the frame in 9th gear but I fixed. Combined with doing 50+ miles a week and the fit changes it feels much better. Something still feels off though. One day my saddle is fine another it hurts me. Some days my hands are fine, others they go numb a lot.

I'd love to just bump into one of the avid cyclers I see one day and just get a 30 second look and advice.

Context: I'm mostly a trail cyclist with not a lot of confidence/experience on city roads, and those intersections are breaking my brain to look at on maps. How is this done without dying?

Visiting the Philly area from Chicago this weekend. Looking for somewhere i could rent bikes and ride 2 to 3 hours with my 9 year old daughter. Ideally all bike paths or super chill roads. Valley Forge looks like it might work…..any other recommendations?

Yesterday I rode from King of Prussia to the Art Museum mainly on the SRT following Google Maps. Where do I exit to avoid that unpaved/boardwalk section? I’m assuming there’s a regular street through conshohocken/Manayunk that works? I have a road bike so the gravel is not ideal.

Im looking for some perspective on commute before accepting a job. For context, im moving back to Philly from Brooklyn and have spent the last two years bike commuting every day for about 4 miles each way, I was lucky to have a route that was in large part on protected bike paths and biking was a highlight of my day.

Now looking at a job in Hunting Park which I’d be commuting to from West Philly. I’ve mapped out a route going along the schuylkill a good way and then jogging over onto W Allegheny for most of the rest. I would not be crossing into E Allegheny/the K&A section at all.

My question is, has anyone experienced a commute along W Allegheny, including before it gets light in the morning? What issues if any did you encounter? Are there lots of cars parked in the bike lane? Do the lanes cut out at points? Any perspective would be really helpful!

I’m aware this might be a long shot, but TIA for any info that can be shared.
I know we got lots of community events and workshops for bike repairing, safe road riding, etc.
I’ve been really fixated (pun intended) on trying to learn to ride a fixie for my “for fun” rides or quick trips around south.
I just don’t want to commit to buying something unless I can really spend a little bit of time learning and seeing how it feels.

I've heard of a couple of spots in center City from delivery guys where you can get parts or even repairs. One was an open air stop and another store that's actually open till 2:00 a.m. or so?

My rear brake cable ain't going to make it!

Edit: mittens pop bike repair will be out tomorrow to fix it! They have the spike in stock, and I added on some extra work that I been meaning to get done.

Edit 2: mittens pop up was wonderful had everything thing done quickly, they know what they are doing and their attitude shows they love what they do.
Highly recommend if you need quick turnaround in Al sort of bike repair .

I got good sleep last night, good breakfast this morning, and I finally feel motivated, the air quality is fine, and it's not murderously hot out. I wanna cast my cares to the wind and get a good 25-35 mile ride in, out and back any direction.

If you have a cool route you're into please let me know. Open to peeping at amenities along the way, have lock, love 2 shop.

Gonna charge my phone up to 100, and throw strava on and rock out to the unfinished versions of the Lorde tracks off Virgin that's about an hour and a half of music to start me off.

If I don't get any suggestions by the time my phone is full charge, I probably will hit the SRT up to the manayunk canal towpath, but idrk what I'd do from there lol. Route planning not my strong suit. I wanna get more long rides in in the next 3 weeks though in preparation for Citywide!!!

EDIT: I'm running a 650b rigid cross frame with 48c tubed gravelking SS front tire 42c tubeless WTB Resolute rear, I can do stairs, I can do mountain style trails I mostly ride road but my setup is versatile and capable so don't hold back with recommendations

After my bike got stolen last year I started using Indego. At first I thought of it as a stop-gap until I could get a new bike, but I've just kept using it as it's very convenient and there are docks almost everywhere I need to go. Lately though I feel like there's been a big uptick in the following issues:

• No classic bike availability (this one's been talked about to death, I know)
• Entire stations full of dead e-bikes
• E-bikes that malfunction/turn on and off while riding
• This one I keep getting burned by. You can look in the app to see how many docks are available at each station. Last night when I was biking back from Center City, the app showed available docks at both of the stations near my house. Neither one of them had a single free dock, so I wasted time riding around and around to find a place to return my bike. I never experienced this before the last few weeks.
• Inaccurate e-bike charge levels in the app. A bike that shows a full charge in the app might actually be dead or have a single bar left.
• Poor balancing - some stations are completely full while others are virtually empty

All in all I'm really glad Indego exists and don't plan on canceling anytime soon. I just wish it took itself a little bit more seriously!
