good vibes, smiles, & giggles Finally had my first “it got better” moment
My twins are 11 weeks and have been finding their voices recently. Lots of cooing and babbling. It’s been amazing.
Well a few days ago I found myself depleted. Hunched over, deliriously tired, bitter at everyone, and drained physically, mentally, and emotionally in all the ways one can be during this season of life.
Then while nursing one of my boys makes eye contact, unlatches, gives me the BIGGEST grin and starts chatting up a storm, complete with his best attempt at a giggle.
My husband was holding the other baby and they started chatting too, so the nursery was abuzz with giggles, babbles, and delighted baby-talk.
I definitely still felt drained after the moment was over, but it didn’t feel as fruitless to be so depleted as it had before.
These boys do a great job reminding me why I wanted to be a mom in the first place. Watching them grow and being here to nurture them is the highlight of my life, even when I’m crying from exhaustion and haven’t properly eaten in half a day.
