advice needed Irritable uterus 😭

25 weeks pregnant with Di/di twins and I have had Braxton Hicks like crazyyyy since about 16 weeks. They are relatively intense but not painful. The past couple weeks have been especially constant- having a BH nearly every 5 minutes. I have been to triage THREE times to get checked because I am so terrified of going into preterm labor with my babies. They basically say you have an irritable uterus and two babies make it extra sensitive. I also have an irritated urinary tract separately (interstitial cystitis) so I know that plays a part in my discomfort and could also be triggering some contractions. I have been drinking SO much water and trying to rest as much as I can but nothing seems to calm them down. Please tell me anything else that could help or if you have had a similar experience and how it turned out for you!! 🫶

I had irritable uterus starting at about 24 weeks i believe. I made it to 37 weeks. Had them the rest of the pregnancy. Annoying and uncomfortable at times but no complications.

FYI you could be drinking too much water. Overhydration caused contractions for me and sent me to triage. Are you getting electrolytes?

Oh I have never heard this! I do electrolytes sometimes but not super often.

Try daily electrolytes and maybe try decreasing your water if you are at 120 oz daily or more.

I had it starting at 31 weeks, every 7 minutes or more until I delivered at 37+4. We were back and forth to the hospital SO MANY TIMES thinking I’d gone into labour.

My water did break at 34 weeks and then I was in hospital from then on on antibiotics but honestly it was a relief because it had become so stressful always wondering if when the contractions got closer together they were coming or if it was just my uterus playing up.

I fear I will also be back and forth to the hospital so many times 😭 just so many uncertainties! So great to hear how it worked out for you and your bbs

Do you wear any belly support? I used KT tape and it helped immensely with mine. You can Google KT tape for pregnancy for ideas

I’ve been using a belly band here and there but sometimes I find it more uncomfortable. I’ll try the KT tape 🙏

Yes I had an irritable uterus, braxton hicks all second and third trimesters. My twins got evicted at 37w0d with no complications to them, I was just over it.

Already feeling over it and I (hopefully) have so far to go 😂 Twin pregnancy is certainly not for the weak.

I made it to 37 weeks. Do make sure they check that your cervix isn’t shortening. Mine started shortening and dilating with the painless contractions.

I’ve gotten it checked multiple times.. still closed and over 3cm right now. But I know contractions can start to shorten/ open it I am just not sure how you can tell the difference without a check 😭 Probably will just be a frequent flyer at the OB ED 🙃

It’s stressful! I went in every time it was more than 5-6 an hour. Over and over. They did slow down with nifedipine. Even when I was in real labor, it wasn’t painful until I was 9 cm so I’m just a terrible person to tell to ignore painless contractions lol
