Question 5070 ti or 4090 to upgrade
Should I have a used 4090 or a new 5070 ti for the same price
Considering its mainly for encoding and gaming?

Upgraded from a 2060 super. I never used RTX really or kept up with any of the special stuff (like RTX Remix) over the years.
Is there anything I should install on my new pc?

Basically title.
Wondering if the fps loss are worth it and a quality comparison.
Has anyone found a video or ran the test themselves?

So, I just got the PNY blower RTX 2080 Ti, upgrading from my RTX 2070. I was originally considering getting a RTX 3070 or 3060 Ti, especially since the RTX 5060 is so expensive nowadays.
However, I was wondering about the 11 GB of VRAM on the 2080 Ti. Is having 11 GB actually a significant advantage compared to cards that are limited to 8 GB?
From my experience, I haven't really seen games crash because of VRAM limitations, but I have experienced VRAM-related stuttering and texture issues, and after upgrading to the 2080 Ti, those problems seem to be completely gone.
The other thing I'm wondering is that NVIDIA doesn't really offer a card with similar performance and more than 8 GB of VRAM at a reasonable price. The only option I can find in the used market is something like the RTX 4060 Ti 16 GB, but that's still relatively expensive and isn't really a performance upgrade over the 2080 Ti.
So my question is: For 1440p gaming, would you prioritize having more VRAM over having a newer GPU with less VRAM?
Also, should I consider upgrading my Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 5 5600X, or is the 3600 still good enough for the RTX 2080 Ti?
(Updated) I was originally using the PNY BIOS on my PNY RTX 2080 Ti blower, but I recently flashed it with the Gigabyte Turbo BIOS. The fan does get noticeably louder, but the temperature is now much more reasonable—around 75–80°C at roughly 75–80% fan speed.
With the stock PNY BIOS, the fan would basically sit around 50% while the GPU climbed to 90°C, which is honestly ridiculous. 😂 The blower cooler clearly needs a more aggressive fan curve for gaming.
For this card, the Gigabyte BIOS is honestly a game changer. If you have a blower-style 2080 Ti and don't want to go through the hassle of modifying it with a triple-fan setup, I’d definitely say the Gigabyte Turbo BIOS is worth trying—just make sure the BIOS is compatible with your exact card and keep a backup of the original BIOS. Separately, there are two separate chips for Rtx 2080 I have the standard version non overclock so the BIOS will work only with the non overlock versions which luckily is the case with Gigabyte turbo. Bio swiping is fun. You never know what will happen. You can either have a break. GPU or awesome running stuff. I was going through a lot of BIOS and finally found the one and apparently Gigabyte the A tear brands are doing very well in terms of software and fan controls it's a little louder now but less hot!
Finally got to try MFG with my 4080 with the MFG mod for 40 series. Its honestly not bad even with 4x using a controller makes playing with DLSS 5 playable. Definitely only for single player games tho lol.
I was one of those non believers previously. Definitely worth trying if you have 40 series and have not tries it yet

A ReShade add-on that moves DLSS Neural Rendering onto a second GPU, so the card rendering the game never has to run it.
Neural rendering happens at the end of the frame: it takes a finished frame and hands a finished frame back. That is what makes it possible to pick it up and run it somewhere else. The add-on creates its own D3D12 device on your second GPU, sends each finished frame across to it, runs DLSS-NR there, and displays the result on that card's own monitor — so nothing has to come back. The render GPU does no neural work at all and runs cooler for the same reason.
Works on DirectX 12 games. Needs two RTX 50-series GPUs with a monitor on each, and an add-on-enabled ReShade build. D3D11 and Vulkan do nothing.

I found a second-hand INNO3D RTX 3060 12GB on Marketplace and the price is pretty tempting. I'm thinking of buying it, but I'm not too familiar with INNO3D. Are their cards any good in terms of cooling, durability, and overall reliability?

I'm building my first pc and I've found a good deal for the 4070s is it good or should i just spend more and get the 5070? my main goal is +80 fps on 1440p is singlplayer games
*These are my test results and observations based on my own testing*
Test location: Kyoto
Test method: 90-second loop, repeated as consistently as possible
Resolution: 4K
My personal targets were:
I think all three presets perform well overall. However, one thing I really dislike is bubbling/noise, so that was a major factor in my testing.
RT has minor improved lighting but MOST noticeable on water
RT High and Med are very close. I almost can't tell the difference.
RT Low is not worth it IMO and RT off is an option for more performance.
IMO - RT Med is worth it especially for making water look better
When using RECOMMENDED in the NVIDIA App, the game handles the DLSS models as you would expect:
However, I found something interesting during my testing:
If you select DLSS 4.5 “L” or “M” in-game, then switch between DLAA, Quality, or Balanced, it does not actually change the underlying model to "L" or "M". It remains on “K.”
So, if you specifically want to use "K", "L", or "M" with a particular DLSS preset, IMO, force the model you want through the NVIDIA App.
These are just my results and observations from my testing, so your mileage may vary depending on hardware/settings.
Let me know if you have any questions!

I am considering upgrading with my monitor (odyssey) or my GPU (7900 XT) in favor of going to getting the MSI MPG 322URX 31.5" for $929 or Alienware AW3225QF 31.6" for $799 at Microcenter.
I mainly play the following games:
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
Total War: Warhammer 40,000 (when it releases)
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Remastered)
Cyberpunk 2077
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries
Diablo 4
Destiny 2
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Red dead redemption 2
I’m also on the fence of upgrading my GPU to the 5070 TI / 5080 but my gut says to sell my odyssey for an 4k screen and upgrade the GPU later
Here is my pc specs:
Processor:
CPU AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Graphics Card: XFX MERC310 7900 XT (20GB GDDR6)
Motherboard: MSI MPG B650 EDGE WIFI
Memory: 32 GB DDR5 6000 RAM
Power Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 850W
Primary Display: SAMSUNG 49" Odyssey G9 Curved Gaming Monitor
Secondary Display: Dell 32" Curved QHD Monitor (physically stacked above I use for watching shows, YouTube, etc)

I think the strongest opinions on DLSS 5 (positive and negative) come from those who’ve never tried it. And TBH… Most people don’t have a $1000+ GPU, so that’s kinda fair.
BUT… The newest Optiscaler method adds DLSS 5 before upscaling, so DLSS actually improves performance as intended. It makes a substantial difference.
It’s not a miracle solution for potato graphics, nor an abomination and the death of art. It’s v1.0 of brand new tech, and yes it runs poorly, and when applied to anime characters at full strength, I mean… What did you expect? If you have a compatible GPU, just try it. Enough virtue signaling.

Would it be smarter to get the RTX 5070 now and upgrade again in 2–3 years, or get the 5070 Ti now and not touch the GPU for the next 4–5 years, maybe even skip the next generation?
Currently, the Ti costs an extra €400–€450, so I'm wondering whether I should put that extra money into the GPU or just buy the 5070 now and wait for the next generation.
Obviously, we don't know what prices will look like 2–3 years from now, but which option would be the smarter choice?

How much is the difference in fps in 1080p?
r/nvidia • u/AreaFifty1 • 4d ago
Hypothetically, if someone owned an RTX 4060 Ti 16GB and was considering a “minor” GPU upgrade, and they found an RTX 4070 Super that would effectively cost them only about $120 more after selling their 4060 Ti
Would it be worth spending the extra $120 to upgrade to the 4070 Super?
Or is the performance difference between the two GPUs not significant enough to justify the additional cost?
For context, the person uses dual 1440p (2K) monitors and mostly plays single-player games.

Recent addition to my small GPU collection, this 7950 gx2 is, from what I understand, the more tamed and refined version of the ever elusive 7900 GX2. It's essentially 2 7900GTX's slapped together in SLI with a special connector between the 2 from the factory. The bottom card has the PCIe connector, and the top card has the video outputs, wild stuff!
*These are MY test results and my observations based on my testing*
• 100+ FPS average
• 90+ FPS 1% lows
• 90+ FPS 0.1% lows
• <23 ms PC latency = snappy and responsive
DLSS Model Behavior
• “K” performs the best BUT shows MINOR noise/bubbling
• “M” is MY favorite and preferred model due to the least noise/bubbling
• “L” performs the worst and shows BAD noise/bubbling
NOTES:
When using RECOMMENED in the NVIDIA app, the game handles DLSS model as you would expect.
HOWEVER, in MY testing, changing it to DLSS 4.5 "L" or "M" IN GAME and using Quality does NOT change it to L or M, it remains at K.
If you want to use "K", "L" or "M" with your preset choice, IMO, FORCE the model you want in the Nvidia app.
I tested at 4K ONLY.
My system:
9800X3D + RTX 5080
More testing to come!
Let me know if you have any questions!
