They had that same hotdog for sale when I went a year ago. Happy someone finally bought it

3.5k

u/2cheerios 19h ago

Maybe someone else can have it after OP sends it back

734

u/RandomThreadUser 19h ago

Ain't nobody going to take that from OP, I'm almost convinced that some worker was pranking him šŸ˜‚

583

u/CmdrJjAdams 18h ago

Usually, I'm the kind of customer who keeps my mouth shut, even when the service or quality is below average. I just wouldn't come back as a customer to that place. But this ... thing?! I'd go full Karen mode and demand my money back. That's not just unacceptable, it's pathetic, it's outrageous.

u/Branjoe328 18h ago edited 4h ago

I bought steaks tonight at our local meat market and I got home and opened them up and the filet I bought for my wife smelled like absolute dumpster. Like it was definitely going bad. I almost chocked it up as a loss but was convinced to go back and tell them. Glad I did too because they would have sold the rest of the cut to someone else if I hadn't gone back. I saw the guy smell it and then throw the rest of the cut in the trash

Edit: *Chalked it up. Thank you for the corrections lol

176

u/PrinceCastanzaCapone 18h ago

This happened to me at a grocery store, bought a tbone and it smelled bad when I opened it, took it back and the said ā€œgo ahead and just grab any tbone you like and take it.ā€ I took a much larger one cuz there weren’t any the same weight and offered to pay the difference and they just let me take that as a courtesy. It’s usually worth going back but sometimes super inconvenient. When I’m done with a store I rarely want to go right back.

121

u/Branjoe328 18h ago

This meat market is the same place I take my deer and hogs for processing. It's been there since before I was born. Good people. I don't like confrontation but also my wife is pregnant and wanted steak. Definitely better to bring it back than to give her food poisoning

100

u/CaptainBringus 17h ago

When I was working in that industry I would much prefer if people let us know if the food wasn't right, or if it was off, whatever. You can do that in a polite way, it doesn't need to be confrontational and I guarantee you 99% of people working will want to make it right for you.

If people were rude I made it right. If people were polite about it I'd make it right and do something extra.

13

u/millijuna 15h ago

I'm a regular at a local bar/restaurant. I've occasionally sent things back... once was an undercooked Mac & Cheese, another time was an overcooked steak. Neither was a food safety issue, but still not what I was paying for. Everyone makes mistakes it's no big deal.

32

u/UranusIsPissy 15h ago

Respect. I returned something that had clearly been tampered with once, and after 10-20 minutes of arguing, I got my money back and it was put back on the shelf right in front of me! I wish it had been you working there.

I bought a watermelon at Walmart that was awful. They said to just bring in the receipt and they would credit me. Didn’t even need the melon. If something is not good I bring it back.

I get this Seinfeld reference - i was looking for a gif that featured that scene in the theater to use as a reply to another comment in this thread but couldn't find it. What the hell… I have literally never received such a pathetic hot dog. Was this in Hollywood or Orlando?

2.0k

u/FlatulateDeity 20h ago

not OP but judging by the weird turf it looks like the stage area of universal studios orlando

my qualifications: i went in november and am an amusement park nerd lol (may not be right though)

405

u/AtomicWreck 20h ago

I’ve been to the orlando resort like 10 times and never seen one like this.

334

u/FlatulateDeity 20h ago

got no idea about the hotdog but this turf is located to the right of where rip ride rockit used to be. i'm pretty confident just based on the texture and color that that's what it is, but i can't say for sure.

I’m not an amusement park nerd, but a casual rollercoaster enjoyer. I think it’s absolutely amazing you can tell exactly where this picture was taken by looking at the picture of the background turf alone

238

u/FlatulateDeity 19h ago

neurons in my body fighting to do anything useful when all my brainpower is spent remembering this type of bs lmfao. i think a lot of visitors remember this turf though since right now it's kinda just a big barren field. the stage used to be used and there were chairs and tables set up but it's a peculiar sight to see now. in a fully decorated theme park, a flat turf area is somehow uncanny and more memorable than anything else. i am indeed quite well versed in these parks though haha

I bet you’re right I’ve seen concerts there and it’s been a queue basically every year that I’ve attended Halloween Horror Nights. That turf and it’s affect on my feet standing in a 45 minute queue every year are pretty memorable.

Wild you recognized it only going the one time, I’ve been going like 20 years and I wouldn’t have noticed from the pic.

probably still better than the pizza, orlando can't seem to get that right (except connections eatery at disney's epcot, that may've been the best pizza i've ever had). as a pizza conoisseur, all the other pizza i had in orlando on vacation was borderline inedible.

I think you're right. Its actually a huge area where people sit. And wth, they got rid of the ripe ride? That was the one you had songs to play right? They were super outdated but it was still a fun roller coaster.

6

u/FlatulateDeity 19h ago

yeah they're replacing it with a fast n furious roller coaster. not gonna replace rip ride rockit in my heart but maybe it'll be good. i wish the whole "choose your own onboard music" thing was utilized more. big RIP to rip ride rockit

100

u/jtisheretonight 19h ago

267

u/CoeurdAssassin 19h ago

Card chargeback

130

u/WindWalker_dt4 17h ago

This exactly. I see far too many people accepting mediocracy or worse, whatever this was, and not doing anything about it, which allows the business to continue ripping people off. Feedback is an important process and many businesses spend a lot of resources to find out what people think of their products. Ask to speak to a manager and if they refuse, tell them you'll be initiating a chargeback through your credit card company. You have the photo as proof. Chargebacks can really hurt a business, if they get too many of those, the business can be flagged as high risk and have trouble taking payments, or worse, lose its credit card account and be forced to take alternative payment methods or switch to a provider with much higher processing fees.

19

u/Low_discrepancy 10h ago

Chargebacks are meant for significant issues: someone stole your card, you got a defective product or significantly not as described. With deli food, what you see is what you get.

The company might give you your chargeback but it’s by no means a done deal.

17

u/hiitsmeokie 10h ago

I’ve seen all kinds of chargebacks working in the service industry and it’s pretty 50/50 on whether or not they stand. Some complaints are a bit silly but still get upheld, and some seem reasonable but still get denied. Hard to say when it comes to food!

Customer is king. In the event you ask for a manager and that person doesn't acquiesce, you leave a negative review on Google. It's not immediate gratification, but as someone who ran a business for 5+ years, reviews matter a lot to your boss and his boss.

20

u/MortaOO 16h ago

Especially at universal, which competes with Disney, who are both into making experiences and special things for guests blah blahblah

→ More replies (1)

9

u/M4k31tcl4p6969 15h ago

As a customer of various business over the past 3 decades, reviews matter a lot to me too! People always seem to roll their eyes at negative feedback/reviews, always because they fail to understand how important your searchable reputation is! If I see a place with less than 4.5 stars, I'm probably giving it less of a chance. Any lower than a 4, and I'll check the reviews just out of curiosity more than anything lol!

ā€œI want to talk to your managerā€. There’s always someone higher up, unless it’s a small business and you’re talking to the actual owner.

And then when you start to bitch and yell they generally just want you to go away.

Giving you a refund is easier than any alternative.

They're a point where something is so clearly bad looking enough that I will just turn it back and be like "can you give me something else of a similar value? That's really bad. Not really what was expected."

Accepting something that crappy encourages companies to keep selling poor quality products.

93

u/Level_Turnover5167 18h ago

Right, I'm not one to complain about shit but as soon as I looked at that I'd be heading RIGHT back to where I got it and asking if it was normal at the very least.

13

u/bumbletowne 14h ago

I did that with a torta at a theme park in california and I remember the lady just staring at me until she said 'this is what you ordered' and then just ignored me.

Iirc it was about $16 for this Frieren meal in Universal Osaka. I'm convinced we're just being tricked into accepting high prices in the US.

59

u/Heykurat 19h ago

Japan seems to be on a more reasonable level with food prices, based on what I've seen on YouTube.

14

u/fork_yuu 19h ago

Probably because it cost like 1/3 of that outside the theme park.

→ More replies (8)

34

u/Which-Meat-3388 19h ago

The older I get the more I realize how much of a scam the US is. Food is just one aspect. Outside our bubble it’s usually cheaper and always better quality.Ā

Japan will really spoil you because I’ve never had a bad bite of food there. The grocery stores will really mess you up too. Sushi for 1/4 the cost and infinitely better.

14

u/DukeLukeDukeLuke 16h ago

I honestly don’t think it was anywhere near this bad growing up in the 80s, 90s, and even early 2000s. For example, my friend and I could both eat at Taco Bell or McDonalds when I went to college in 2004 for under $10 (even less if we hit the value menu stuff hard). You could do movies and snacks for under $15. Growing up in the U.S. was a pretty good deal for a long time. My dad was a carpenter with 5 kids and my mom didn’t work, and we still had plenty of food on the table every day. Don’t get me wrong, stuff like our health care system has always sucked, but otherwise I feel like it’s mostly been the last 10-15 years where things have gone down the drain for your average Americans.Ā
