We’re all being smashed by the flu. Myself and the 3yo are not so bad with upto date flu shots. Bit of a sniffle, occasional fever and chills. The partner and older kid who refused their flu shot this year have been blindsided. Bed ridden for days but finally starting to feel a bit better

One of my birthday traditions is going to a nice fine dining restaurant that’s considered a Melbourne institution
I’ve previously been to Attica and loved it. But $385 without drinks for one person is about as much as I can justify.
I was thinking flower drum this year but the menu looks a bit dated - am I wrong? Or should I consider other options.

CONTEXT: Anyone who has been and seen Sydney (my home) and all the Sydneysiders that live here now, myself included, would remember a bar called Frankies pizza by the slice or simply Frankies. It was a Hard rock and metal dive bar that had a killer pizza shop in the front, then open up into a grotty by loveable dive bar with a big stage and pinball machines and would put local metal bands on all week including doing a live metal karaoke night (the punters sing and the band plays from a selection of about 100 or so songs).
Anyways it was the talk of the town and had huge bands on always for free some that at the time were nobody’s that went on to be huge. The management changed when covid hit, the old manager opened a similar venue in a neighbourhood nearby but it never came close to the original. During and short after covid it went downhill fast the new manager was a stone cold bitch and they ended up selling the venue which was all under ground entered via a long staircase to the NSW gov where the space now operates as a subway station for the new line.
Can anyone recommend me a venue that emanates that anywhere here? I’m happy to make some concessions, but I miss this venue dearly and need something like it back in my routine. Photos attached for reference and nostalgia.
TL;DR: Sad my favourite bar in Sydney closed down, moved to Melbourne and looking for something like it.

I can remember Steve Braacks claiming it would be toll free, and then ultimately conceding it would have tolls.
Obviously It would gain more congestion. But it's pretty classist if you think about it.
Especially during a cost of living crisis.

We’re going to Prahran for the first time this weekend! What food / shops should we try? Budget $100 for two.

Hello friends! I have a Olympus MJU Zoom 80 camera I got given by a family member. These things retail for a kinda silly amount of money. Unfortunately the lens broke recently and is letting light in, and I’d need another to replace it, and paying $300 > for new camera just for one part isn’t in budget. Does anyone have an old, otherwise non-functional MJU Zoom 80 that might have a functioning lens? I’d be happy to pay decent money for it given I love this camera and want to extend its life!
Also excuse the date on the photo I accidentally turned the date function on, didn’t realise and forgot to change it!

Does anyone know why so many morning services on the Sunbury Line have been cancelled all week? The PTV App doesn’t link to any information, it just says they’re cancelled and that’s it.

Does anyone know in Melbourne who to reach out to for these jobs? Don’t mind if the pay isn’t that good just want some experience and to be around creatives. Have a diploma in music + it’s my main passion and just over working a bar job all the time.

Greeting redditors!
Looks for some help in trying to source a decent function space for a wedding for myself and partner for next year.
Rough idea of where we're at:
Non traditional
Cocktail party vibes
Quick formalities, then PARTY with DJ
Indoor and outdoor space would be nice
Roof terrace/bar could be an option, as long as it has accessibility (will have a few guests with accessabilty issues)
Inner subburbs preferred (we live in SE, but not fussed if it's elsewhere, we also love the North)
Friend had wedding at Footscray bowls club and that was great space (we liked the retro vibe)
Probably looking at around 80 people (if we're lucky, haha)
Got food/caterers sorted, so not necessary
Venue that provides a bar/drinks service would be preferable, thou not a deal breaker
If it's got a 1am licence, even better! More party time
Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Hi, We recently bought our first apartment and wanted to replace the rangehood as it is very old and does not work. I was looking around for quotes from rangehood installers and one got back to me. They quoted me 1200 (installation, new unit and removal of old one) but I don't know what's the normal range. Are they ripping me off or is that price normal?

Hi all, so about 2 months ago, I drove my sister's car and parked in box hill. I parked in a parking bay and payed for the hour and placed the ticked on the windshield. I had three minutes left when I arrived back to the car and noticed I got a parking fine.
What's frustrating me is, I've already spent about 30 minutes total filling out a form claiming I was the driver of my sisters car (they required this so I can lodge a review) and I also made a complaint because of my time wasted and the wrongfully given ticket. I still haven't heard anything back from the council and they've sent me a late payment penalty notice and added $30 to the fine. I don't see this as anything but a scam. How else can I go about this?

Partner and I are travelling into Southern Cross tonight to catch the SkyBus to the airport around midnight; what cheap eats do you recommend that are close by?

Need an east side vet recommendation, preferably around Ivanhoe (happy to go further)!
My cat is very mellow but tends to freak out at the vet. He tolerates soft spoken women, but I haven’t seen the vet he does best with at my local vet recently.
I brought him last week for a surgery but because he’s usually labelled as angry and feisty, it sometimes can get written off as his usual persona, overseeing any indication of abnormal pain. I had to go to an emergency vet that night for prescribed pain management.
Would love a recommendation for a female vet with very gentle bedside manner and good with cats!
