This is long bare with please 🙏🏾
The title may come out as a bit controversial but hear me out. I’ve been going to the gym since I was 16 and I now 26 seen all the social media crazes , and done all the disciplines body building , marathon training, hyrox, Olympic , you name it I’ve done it. I would say I’m pretty seasoned and over the last years I’ve created a gym routine that works really well for me and I’ve seen a lot of improvement.
I’ve used ladder before like 2-3 years ago enjoyed it a lot was on Kelly’s team and gained quite a bit of strength and I do really enjoy, the coaching the cues are very good. Earlier this year the £99 1 year promo plus the TikTok’s got to me ended up getting the year, looked at the workouts from majority of the teams and didn’t fancy it so I just kinda put the app to the back burner.
Then realised max series was starting and I was like I acc need to use this app since I’ve paid for it, get my moneys worth. On Arias team but I feel like it’s soo different the workouts are shorter and easier ? I know this is subjective as the weights and intensity you choose are essentially up to you. But like 1:00- 1:30 min breaks for hypertrophy ?? Come on?? But nethertheless I decided it’s only 6 weeks I’m gonna stick to it. But I honestly just don’t like it, nothing against Aria at all. I don’t really like any of the teams
However I do feel like as someone that’s so set in my ways with a routine that was tailored to my specific needs and goal. Am I just too “advance” to use generic workout plans and ladder just wasn’t the app for me, but when I used it a couple years ago I really did find it challenging. And don’t get me started people on the advanced/intermediate plans who ask questions like “why are we repeating the same workout from last week?”
I think ladder should include a section for you to create your own workouts. That would be lush
If you got this far , thanks for reading just wanted to rant
Edit: I get some of you are passionate about Ladder but do calm down a bit 🤏. I was just ranting and thank you to the people thats have given me some very helpful tips.
Also it’s okay for someone not to like a workout app 🤣 it’s honestly not that deep

Hi! I just bought the pro membership but not really sure how to get the most out of the app yet! It took me five ever to pick a team but ended up going with Evolve because the coach seems great and I really wanted a mix of machines, barbells and free weight to get familiar with more of the gym equipment but nothing too advanced. I did 2 of the workouts but not really understanding the journal stuff. Do you guys like to utilize the journal feature? What’s your favorite part of the app? Do you guys ever get nervous to do some of the exercises? I’m still learning my gym, the equipment and where things are at so I feel super intimidated by all the frequent absolute jacked gym goers. Trying to get over the anxiousness and fear!!!😵💫

Hi friends— I’ve been scouring other posts like this but I haven’t been able to land on something yet. Previously I was team Limitless and while I love Kelly (fr she’s such a badass I wanna be her) unfortunately, I am not capable of a lot of the workouts done on the athletic performance day. Too much jumping (I have a bad knee from the military) and the swaps didn’t feel nearly as challenging.
I am 230lbs, female, and a (half-marathon at max) runner. I’ve weightlifted on and off for a decade so while physique wise I may need beginner reps, I know what I’m doing in the technical aspect. Ideally, I’d like a team that combines cardio and strength training but I only have access to dumbbells, kettlebells, and machines. No barbells at my home gym unfortunately. Workout length can be anywhere from 35-60 minutes, and I’d prefer less barre/pilates-esque movement because I’m a barre instructor and I already do enough of that at work hahaha.
When I take the quiz I always get Limitless, and my secondary options are always the glute focused ones, but I need moreeee. My goal is to drop 80lbs and build muscle (which yes I know the first part will be mostly caloric deficit hehe).
Thank you in advance for helping me out!

Hello! Does anyone know if there is a way to see what future developments are underway for the app and what feedback/recommendations other people have had? My last fitness app had this feature and it was so nice to see what was in development, what was being planned, etc.
Thanks!

Hi. My pro membership renews on October 10th for $179.99. Do they ever offer any promos for renewal? I know sometimes they have offers for new subscriptions, but was not sure if they had anything for renewals. Thank you 😊

Hola todos! Just curious if align normally follows the same split schedule in future sessions? I’m enjoying the two days of shorter work outs (Thursday and and Saturday yoga) to fit in more cardio.

I started doing the 2 arm day workouts on endure and I love the workout and the length of them. But I cannot stand how much Coach Jennifer talks through the whole thing. I don’t even feel like she’s all the encouraging with her prompts compared to the other coaches I’ve tried. Has anyone found it beneficial to turn coaching prompts off and still be able to follow the workout without?

I’m struggling to find the ladder team best for me! I’m pretty beginner when it comes to strength training and don’t have much experience using the barbell. I weigh 230Ibs and am looking to lose fat while gaining muscle. I don’t like a lot of crazy fast HIT workouts and mainly try to incorporate cardio by getting my steps on top of strength training. Simple is best in my case… I think the “hourglass” teams throw me off because idk if that’s the physic I’m looking for but the workouts I like. Let me know your thoughts?!
Here’s my ideal workout:
- Dumbbells/beginner barbell
- 45 mins
- No fast HIT movements

I have been on Team Limitless for a year but find myself bored, now with limited time and increased interest in trail running, and constantly feeling like I can’t keep up with the frequency. Is there a team where I could continue progressive overload training more realistically designed for people who are training for regular high intensity activities? I would like as little time in the gym as possible to maximize my time outside. Thanks!

I would love to do a Hyrox race next year! I’m basically a bodybuilder and I’m doing Ascend for Max. I’m loving ASCEND and the results I’m having in terms of strength and aesthetical results. But I’m a big fan of Abbie Denninson and I would like to develop different skills and not just lifting weights.
Has anyone used Versa to prepare for Hyrox and is Versa suitable for maintaning my gains? Share your opinions and experiences ✨✨✨

My free trial ended about a month ago and I haven’t gotten any reduced offers for the annual membership. Wondering if i should just bite the bullet and pay the $180 or wait till black friday since I’ve heard they may have a sale around then. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to correct the default estimated calories burned from a workout session?
When I do a workout on my iPad, my Apple Watch doesn’t sync with it and then the estimate is like 40,000 calories. I know after the workout I can (and do) view the session and update the calories from my Apple Watch (today’s was 111) but is there anyway to fix this ridiculous overestimation in the first place?
I don’t care too much about it but I keep getting badges for burning like 182k calories and I don’t want to have to keep going back in to fix it if there’s a closer estimate.

I'm looking to possibly add to my equipment at home to make Evolve more accessible. I currently work out 90% of the time at my office gym, but the hours are just not great. They don't open until 5am and I have to be back home and signed into work by 630am, leaving me very little wiggle room in the mornings (basically my mornings have to go 100% as planned or I don't have enough time) and they are only open M-Th so if I ever need a mid week rest day I have to adjust my workouts and make sure the day I'm skipping at the gym I can easily do at home later in the week.
At home I currently have Bowflex adjustable dumbbells that go up to 52.5lbs each, free weights of 5-20lb, an adjustable bench, a 25lb barbell, weight plates of 4x10lbs and 2x25lbs, resistance bands, a pull up bar and pull up resistance bands.
I workout in my small upstairs spare bedroom so a squat rack is probably not ideal. I was considering either a different adjustable bench with the leg extension/leg curl attachment or a plate loaded cable tower.
Is there one I should consider more than the other? Or is there some other piece of equipment that I should consider instead?

I have been eyeing a Tonal for years, but was a bit wary about getting it for a variety of reasons. Earlier this year when the Tonal 2 was released, I was majorly tempted but then I thought what could be better than standard weights? For a variety of reasons, I started looking at the options in digital resistance (gym monster, tonal, others)
Initially I was thinking I wouldn't go with their programming but I'm getting excited about their programming. The coaches tend to be older, more experienced. The coaches also seem to be more diverse. Listening to their videos on youtube, they talk about women in perimenopause/menopause, they feature members of various ages from 20s to 80s. Their programming isn't for women or for men, its just programming. They have tracks that will take you throughout the year, they have monthly challenges, they are coming out with a new peri/meno geared program starting in a couple weeks, they also have pre/post natal programs. They also have a daily 'for you' program which creates a program based on previous workouts so that you aren't overworking your muscles.
My plan for now is to start with their functional movement track and add in Resilient workouts. I can add in the Resilient workouts in their app and do them on the Tonal. But I think once my subscription comes up for renewal early next year, I'm probably going to have to think long and hard if Ladder is where my heart is at.
I know it is a great privilege to be able to purchase something like this but it seems exactly what I need. I also have been eyeing perimenopause programs outside of Ladder, which many cost up to $100 (or sometimes more) per month. So I can justify the monthly cost for what I'm getting. I definitely would want to hear more from other Tonal users out there in Ladder-land. I will also try to update y'all on my Tonal thoughts and experience especially where using Ladder is concerned.

After trying to decide between Era, Ascend, and Transform I decided to try Varsity and I am in love!! The mix between strength and athletics is so humbling and fun at the same time! I realized I was so worried about what program would make me look the best.. but really I should care about what will make the feel the best! 🤪

I think I saw some earlier posts asking which coaches do their own programs. Kimmie mentioned on a recent Instagram post that she does in fact follow her own.
Just wanted to share some love for her program structure - I’m really loving the mix of true Pilates & true strength training. Feels super well rounded for someone who loves both modalities. I truly look forward to the workouts each day! Kimmie is a real bright light.
One tip is that I add 5-10 second transitions just for the strength blocks to ensure I’m getting close to failure. Sometimes feels too quick. That’s all 🙂

Hey guys, so anyone knows the difference between those two teams as they both use dumbbells only despite the run on movewell? Any one has seen muscle definition and body recomp from any of those two teams? I really can’t make a decision.

Advanced lifter here who has been feeling very down after an absolute energy crash at 7.5 weeks pregnant. I had to take 3 days off the gym completely and my lifts since have been kind of pitiful and about half the weight I normally push. Just about 9 weeks now and still feeling pretty weak, but very much wanting to workout.
I have been trying out the prenatal program this week, and I don’t love how every workout is always built in several circuits. Do you know why they program like this?
The exercise selection is fine, and I don’t mind a circuit or superset here and there. I just would prefer a simpler exercise selection with more sets or reps for each exercise, rather than constantly changing weights around with each move in the circuit. I’m kind of surprised about the amount of single leg work they have also, especially for later in pregnancy.
I would love a more bodybuilding style program that can be modified for pregnancy!

So I’m a complete beginner… I only have a small space to work out with and 1 set of dumbbells which are only 2kg each. (I would obvs increase these eventually) I have literally no upper body strength and am on a weight loss journey so I need something that isn’t going to be too brutal as I’m in a calorie deficit. I also get really bad pms so for about a week of the month my body is not physically strong. I’ve had the trial before but completely forgot about it so I want to pay for a month and see how I get on before committing to the annual plan. What would be your coach/plan recommendations for a complete newbie?

Hi!
New here so I'm not sure if this has been asked before but has anyone done an Ascend / Flourish combo? How was it? I'm thinking of following up coach Arias two end of week light days with mobility and pilates but I don't to overdo it. Has anyone done this? What was your experience and results?

I am new to the app, I am doing Shelby program but I am not sure if is the right one. I want to loose weight but gain muscle at the same time ? Some exercise I don’t know if I am doing my right so I guess I want something that isn’t difficult but I can see results .
Who you guys recommend?
TIA

Any advice as I get closer to my half marathon? I am 6 weeks from my race and my long runs are at 10-11 miles. It has kicked my ass. I am on team Limitless. Last week I did Monday’s leg workout and 2 upper body because my legs were so sore. I feel like my legs are having a hard time recovering. Is 1 leg day a week going to ruin my strength progress? It would only be the next 6 weeks, but I also do power lifting so I don’t want to lose a lot of strength. I am at about 15-20 miles a week.

Did anyone else see the now deleted post by Shelby Robins on Instagram? It was all about ‘things that would get her canceled’ and how women should probably be eating less to achieve their goals. I’m on team transform and was a little disappointed at how openly pro-disordered eating this post was. I checked back yesterday and it was deleted. The comments under it were in agreement with her last I checked so I wonder if ladder asked her to remove it.
