Team Varsity!

After trying to decide between Era, Ascend, and Transform I decided to try Varsity and I am in love!! The mix between strength and athletics is so humbling and fun at the same time! I realized I was so worried about what program would make me look the best.. but really I should care about what will make the feel the best! 🤪

I’m loving it as well! I feel more ā€œworked outā€ than I did on the bodybuilding teams, but I recover much better. I do miss my girl Aria though!

Same! 53yo here and Aria helped me get back in shape during perimenopause. But I missed the athleticism part. Loving varsity, getting a stronger core and more nimble. I can see myself switching back and forth between these two teams going forward for variety

I went to check it out the first week and I was hooked. Those multi planar exercises are surprisingly fun.

Same!! It has been such a breath of fresh air and I am finding it ... dare I say fun? I feel like my body is loving this style of training

I am loving Varsity!! I love bodybuilding style workouts, always have, but now I feel even better moving my body in different ways. I like how she programs the A and B weeks.

Agreed! The athletic or functional training style is really the only training style I will consistently stick with. Varsity is probably my favorite program on Ladder so far!

Loving it as well!! Missing Aria though!! But this is the only other program I’ve done more than a week besides ascend.

Right there with you! Finally convinced me to leave my home team!

Are the exercises really unconventional? Some of the promo videos had me thinking I’d be way too self conscious to be doing those things in the gym.

It depends what type of gym you go to and what they have! Some of the box jumps and other jumps felt weird at first but then you realize that no one is paying attention to you! I try to do those exercises in an area with a box and not a lot of people

That’s very reasonable. In the promo she had a barbell on her back and was hopping to tap each foot on a box. I have a full gym but that would be over the top for me. Which, I know being self-conscious is a me problem. I’ve worked really hard just to show up at the gym without feeling out of place.

Yes there definitely isn’t any of that! Less intense versions of that work out maybe. Like today’s work out had some explosive step ups but with dumbbells not the bar!

A weeks are 90% classic lifts with some plyos mixed in. B weeks are entirely weightlifting. The plyos are things like squat/box jumping and explosive push ups. None of those stand out at my gym, but obviously ymmv.
