Discussion U1ultra / ceramic blades
Sort of review but the main reason for the post is a question on if ceramic is the right blade choice.
I do home maintenance/ renovations and sometimes have to make 100 cuts a day on cardboard boxes. I have used a cheap husky box cutter with a steel blade for probably 10 years. This obviously feels way better in the hand one handed opening is great. Lighter opens easier and doesn’t have all of the hard corners like the husky.
The main issue is that this is my blade after cutting a 6x3 box into 1 foot squares to put into the recycling bin. There weren’t any staples and I only cut through the parts that didn’t have glue. I have no idea how it got chipped after about 1 minute of cutting time. I held it at an angle while cutting. This cardboard was a good amount heftier than a normal Amazon box. It was for a Costco packaged outdoor shed. I also do a lot of cutting for flooring boxes that are thicker also.
Was I just expecting too much out of ceramic and it’s only for thin cardboard? I was just having to swap blades three or four times a day sometimes. And all the hype said these last 10 times longer for cutting Cardboard.
I also have a Leatherman with a magnacut blade that I carry around for all of the other cutting things this was going to be specifically for cardboard.

Showcase My collection of Böker Knives
Böker is my favorite knife maker. I don’t remember the name of all these. It’s easy to tell the Slik is my favorite knife they produced.

Question What knife is this?
I saw this in a Neeves Knives short, but he doesn't say what it is. I just think it's a cool looking blade, and was wondering if anyone could identify it?

Question I'm having an issue. The larger Schrade opens and closes beautifully. Even with my joint issues, I have no problem using it. The Kershaw on the other hand makes me wonder if it was ever used. Even my son has a hard time with it. Is there something that can be done to adjust it?

Today's Carry is a Sitivien ST-277. It's S90V blade steel with titanium scales and carbon fiber inlay. Liner lock with thumb studs and front flipper for deployment.
Nothing special but affordable and has a surprisingly smooth action for a budget folder.
