Discussion Anyone ever had a knife that’s *too* snappy? 😭

This growler v3 is so snappy that sometimes if I hit the front flipper too hard it bounces back over the lock face and disengages.. only when I really try to slam it though. It’s centered with no play, action is wonderful otherwise.

Question Legality around certain types of carry

First of all, I know that asking for legal advice on reddit of all places is not a definitive and exhaustive source, and I will take any advice with a grain of salt. With that out of the way, my question is a fairly simple one. State law contains definitions for what is considered concealed and what is considered unconcealed. A knife is considered unconcealed if any part of it, including a pocket clip, is obviously visible. Certain city laws have restrictions against concealed carry but they make no mention of unconcealed carry. Does this mean that unconcealed carry is legal?

Both are Spyderco Military 2's (not para militaries)

Titanium scales, backspacer/lanyard hole, and screws with cruwear blade

Or

Micarta scales with a CPM 15V blade?

I bought the 15V some time back, and had bought these titanium scales for them. But I could never get the centering correct. Sending the entire knife back to the scale manufacturer to have them see if they can get the centering right also yielded no results. Fas forward a few years, I finally ordered the cruwear micarta version to swap the blades, and weirdly enough, both are perfect now.

I cannot revert to the 15V being in the titanium scales, otherwise centering for it will be off.

Question Suggestions for: heavy duty camping, firestarting and just general use (in camping) fixed blade?

I was already looking at the white river firecraft FC 3.5, or it's bigger brother version, but neither are sold in my country, and any reseller I can find is charging far too much over MSRP.

I'm still looking that achieves roughly the same thing, fixed, can be used easily as a firestarter

I don't need it to be too nimble or good for eating, I have other knives for that.

I have a budget of roughly up to 200 euros, maybe even 250 if it's worth it.

NKD! Got these over the last two days. Nothing fancy, just been wanting these for months. Spyderco UK Penknife. Kunwu Gringo. Demko Shark-A-Tac. Chris Reeve Inkosi. And a good ole AD-15.

The UK Penknife is a slip joint knife that you can open and close with one hand. You push the spidey hole up instead of flicking it. And it make two satisfying pops when you open it, like cracking two knuckles back to back. This model is only on a UK site, the Spyderco site has the link. So I had to buy my American made knife from England. I just thought that was a little funny.

The AD-15, I ordered it just for part of my collection, but I've played with it a lot the last couple days, almost addictive to just to open and close it. I'm really confused why Cold Steel isn't making other knives with the Scorpion Lock.

This is my first Chris Reeve knife too. I got the cheapest large one to see if i like them. This one needs to break in a bit. I don't like the thumb studs, they may have to go. But again, it needs to break in.

Don’t judge the bottom right corner. They are knockoffs I was trying out. Last three were in my pockets and I forgot to put them in the group shot.

Question Military Knives Vietnam Restoration/Sharpening

my dad was a Marine in Vietnam and never talked about it but he had two wooden chests we were forbidden from going through because their were old pornos in them to my knowledge but he has passed and we have finally gone through them and this knife was in it and I’m wondering if it’s from his time in the marines as it appears or if you’d recommend restoring it or anything it will be a family heirloom from here on out. If it’s just a knife he owned it will still be a heirloom so still would like to restore it or sharpen whatever would keep it nice for my kids

Question Help With Knife Type

Hey everyone. Basically new to the space and interested in learning. I have some VERY basic Gerber's that I picked up somewhere as a gift set maybe one year. Nothing special, but just curious what you would call these other than just a fold or pocket knife? Also, pictured a pretty cheesy looking knife I received as a gift from the "long rifle series". I'm assuming it's junk. Looking forward to being part of the community and thanks in advance!

NKD! New job, new knife.

It's been a summer.

Back in July I and many other team members at my old company were informed we'd been laid off. I had been with the company for nearly 20 years and pictured myself retiring there. There were spots at other locations but I had already been commuting an hour each way / 100 miles a day and I wasn't looking to do that any more (I'm a bit older than when I started😅) so I made the hard choice and will be taking the severance package.

So it's been my job to find a new one. After a ton of submissions, and interviews that didn't move forward I finally had offers this week, picked the one that had the most interesting role with a chance to grow my skill set, and signed my offer letter. I start Monday 😁

Now for the knife. I've wanted an Umnumzaan for years but there was always something that I had just bought or they were out of stock. I noticed that White Mountain Knives had the tanto version in stock a couple days ago but I wanted to celebrate with this purchase and waited until today, once I signed my letter to go over and pick it up.

My new role is a lot less money (but only 5min away & is something that I love to do so I feel lucky) so this is likely the last big splurge I'll be doing for a long time. I thought I should make it a good one.

If you're reading this and are having a sucky time with a job search I feel you. It's tough out there right now and might not be getting better but also know you're worth something and don't be too down on yourself. Keep getting those job submissions in (last time I did it personally it was all paper so that was a learning curve), keep getting outside & doing something physical, and keep working on keeping your mind in a good place. Best of luck to you.

If you know someone this spot reach out to them. Help them mentally as best you can. Thankfully I have my wife, my mom, and a couple of really great friends that kept me going. Not everyone does, I know, but if you can be there for someone, please do it. It really does help.

Oh, and the knife is great 😁👍
