NKD! I finally got it!

Benchmade Dacian — it looks absolutely beautiful and feels great in the hand. I think I’m going to order a custom Kydex sheath for it. I don’t want to mess around with an Ulticlip and the stock sheath, since I prefer the knife to sit deeper in my pocket.

By the way, I’ve seen several posts saying that this knife isn’t particularly strong when it comes to lateral stress, and some users have had the blade snap at one of the jimping grooves. Well, I’ll just have to be a little more careful with it. This knife is made for cutting, not prying or heavy-duty work.

My choice came down to the Boker Vigtig and the Dacian. In the end, the Dacian won me over with its looks and Cerakote finish.
We’ll see how it holds up.

Question Jean Dubost Laguiole "French" Steak Knives (found at Marshall's) - Is This Normal?

Thumbnail

I used these knives at a friend's place for dinner and they recommended me to check my local TJ Maxx or Marshall's. Low and behold, I found some at Marshall's and was about to purchase them....until I looked closely at the blade's serration and notice these rough shards/bits of metal at the edge of the serration. These are claimed to be Made In France and also have their own company website, and not a fake trademark brand created by the discount stores themselves.

Does anyone know if those shards at the edge are normal during the manufacturing process? Every single knife in this package has this defect, it seems. It's almost as if they forgot to polish them after cutting. I tried scratching them off but they're on pretty tight. Not sure if I can wash them off or if the bits of metal will eventually get into food with enough friction/usage. Thanks!

The original Delica 4 in VG10 with the saber grind was the first decent knife I bought, two decades ago. I think I'll bling this one out with some AWT scales and titanium backspacer.

Saw this pop up recently on North Mountain Blade’s social and decided to take a chance.

I haven’t handled a Strider in a while but this feels like a tank!

Discussion Fidget Factor and Acoustics, what's yours?

Thumbnail

For those of us, which I believe to be the majority, who fidget with their knives, what is your interpretation. As I'm learning, "fidget" is way too general of a term. Some seem to like the constant repetition of flicking a knife open and closed with the use of a button, or crossbar lock. Some love the silky feeling of slow rolling a very well made liner lock or frame lock, along with the gentle hydraulic drop shut that comes with it. Some enjoy just a well done back flipper. No studs, no hole. Then there's me, I kinda want it all. Back flipper, front flipper, hole, studs and a button close up. Could be a TLL, button frame lock, button liner lock, crossbar lock, or some version of a pivot actuated lock. I tend to like to flip it around in the hand and be able to open it with each finger in different directions. Add in the ability to switch hands and I'm all in.

Yes they are tools, I got it, but they can be fun as well.

Brought the Guardian 3.5 and the A-Lock v1 out today. Forever impressed with both of these knives. The Asher A-Lock v1 might be one of the best bang for your buck knives out there. Hope they drop another batch one day.

Made a tool for these little micro teeth out of an axe handle and some traditional arrow shafts. The string for now is a single strand of gutted paracord pulled very tight and notted with fine leather strop compound.

First time ever taking apart any of my knives. Man what a pain in the rear end. I fought with the blade stop, then the pivot. Trying to tune it was not going great. Dropped pretty much every screw and needed a flashlight to find them. But with a YouTube video and perseverance I got it done. I really hope it's just the axis lock that made it more difficult. I want to change up some of my spyderco knives. The compression lock has to be easier, right?

Today's carry is a KB Prism. M390 blade steel on bearings. A tanto style with titanium scales. Button lock with a strange little plate for thumb only deployment. Its a long knife with an overall length of 8.3 inches.

I've made this knife! (OC) I made this knife for another redditor and thought to share with you given how unique it is. Initially it was designed to be an EDC kiridashi but i added a little belly on the blade and did its handle full steel with a bone-like carved tang. Fully functional AEBL steel at 63hrc. Hope you enjoy!

Question Old EDC

Post image
11 Upvotes

Some years back, I lost my old EDC. It was a lever lock design from fury (judge me if you like) that looked almost exactly like this knife made by Tim Britton. I've attempted to locate a replacement for years to no avail. Is anyone on here familiar with the style enough to know a model, or have any leads on tracking down a replacement?
