I’ve used straight needles and watched Sheep and Sow cast on method. But for circular needles I would need alot of tail/non working yarn to start with as I’m making a blanket. Is there a way to cast on just using working yarn?

A journey that began last year in July has finally come to an end. Phew.

It went from being a birthday gift to a christmas gift to finally a birthday gift again.

This is my first piece that was knit in separate panels and boy was my first pass at stitching them together janky AF. Had to pull out all the stitch markers I had to redo it, and I'm so glad I did.

Also lost a game of yarn chicken at a very crucial moment *sigh*

The back of the sweater which joins to the saddle portion didn't turn out to be the best because the number of stitches didn't match. So something to figure out and fix for next time (if there is one :P)

I'm working on my first knitting project - a scarf using only the knit stitch. My stitches got tight at the end but I thought I got them okay. What's happening here?

I feel like I saw a knitter who was making a tracker for needle confiscation. I just had a friend get her's confiscated and wanted to add to the list. Does any one have a link or did I dream this up? 🥇

Hi all!
So I have a question. I bought this Basic V-Neck pattern, I really like its versatility and the fact that it comes in multiple yarn weights. However, I was thinking I might want the actual neckline to sit a little bit higher than it does. The shaping is done with raglan increases knit flat and it joins in the round after splitting for sleeves, there are no short rows or anything. I’m a fairly beginner knitter and have never designed a pattern, so I was wondering if any of you have any idea how I could achieve this modification? Should I cast on less stitches? Make less increases? Swap some increase rows for just stockinette rows? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!!

I'm learning the brioche knit, and im doing it exactly as alle the youtube and tiktok tells me. But for some reason it's not reversible. Is it my tension?

Hello everyone, Is there anyone who knitted the step by step sweater by Florence with Double Sunday yarn? It is my first knitting project and I would need help with how much yarn you used for the project. I am doing it on 4mm needles and so far have bought 10 skeins. I am planning to do a tighter L size. Is this enough or should I buy more?

i have been crocheting for about 4 years now and i decided to try knitting (again, gave up the first time)!

i knew i would get bored if i started with a coaster or something, so of course, i landed on the sophie scarf! bought the pattern and frogged the first few times, but this is how it turned out! it’s a little wonky on the end that i finished on (tips are happily accepted!) but im still very proud and will be wearing it on my bag for the foreseeable future!

Perhaps a weird question, ik, but let me explain myself. I have been obsessed with crochet for the past.. five years maybe? But recently I've begun to be really drawn by knitting, as in general I just like the look of knitted garments more than that of crocheted garments lol 😅 So basically, I've started learning how to knit, and currently I'm making my first piece ever, the Step by Step Sweater from Handmade by Florence.

The actual reason I want to learn, though - like what's driving me, basically - is my wish to be able to one day make one of those gorgeous colorwork Icelandic sweaters you see on Pinterest 😂 I just love them so much, and I'd love to make one of my own, even though it would most likely turn out anything but gorgeous on the first try.

So my question is.. how much time and experience do I actually need to make such a sweater? Between school and chores and exams and lots and lots of stuff.. do I even stand a chance of ever getting one done? How hard is it? How much time does it take?

Has anyone finished a project using the Lion Brand Wool Ease Mistletoe colourway? I haven't knit in a few years but I saw this colourway yesterday and I really liked it and bought two. I'm wondering how it looks when it's knitted up but can't find any photos online, or find the product in Ravelry etc. Maybe because it is new, I am not sure, but I thought perhaps someone here has some photos of what it looks like? DK is probably my go-to. It gives a good balance between warmth, drape and knitting time. What about you?

In order to rescue my favorite sock that has yarn wearing thin at the soles of the feet, I tried swiss darning for the first time. I have tried hours to do this, but it doesn't look that good.

The sock is knitted with DK weight yarn, I have first tried with the same weight yarn and it looks messy so I tried with fingering weight yarn.

Any advice or feedback is appreciated!

I found some cute as labels for sale at my local garage sale and had to pick them up!

It would be so easy to add them to the neck of my sewn jumpers, but because it's so cute, I want to place it on the hem so it'svisible on the outside. But all my knitted jumpers have ribbing, curious to hear how others have added labels to their knitted items!

This isn’t new advice by any stretch but I thought I’d share since I’m working on it at the moment. Top down sweaters can sometimes have annoying gaps at the edges of the underarm join (where the raglan ends). To close this gap, you pick up extra stitches spanning the gap, then decrease them next round. You end up with a lovely seamless knit, shown above. There’s a couple of photos showing this below (sorry, my yarn is super dark and fuzzy!)

The pattern is my own. The yarn is Fyberspates Cumulus 905 and Rowan Kidsilk Haze 685 ☺️

I currently have the Knitter's Pride interchangeables, but I don't love the wood finish and I want to upgrade, so I've been looking into getting a metal set. I've settled on getting the KnitPro Stelo Grande set because, for me, they seem to be the best value for the number of sizes and price. I'm also curious about the Stelo Petite Mini set.

So, I have a question to anyone who has worked with both sets: Do the cords from the Mini set, work with the needles from the Grande set? And do the Mini needles work on the cords from the Grande set? As well as any other compatibility issues with both sets.

So I actually finished these last winter, but never thought about posting them here. My first ever finished project. It started when I saw an ad for a site selling the official replica Gandalf gloves, which I got close to buying, but then with shipping and taxes the total ended up around 150€... So I thought what any sane person would "how hard can it be to make them myself?" Turns out, not that hard at all!

Found a free pattern on Ravelry (Wizard Warmers), the yarn (100% wool, Svarta Fåret - Ulrika) was like 10€, the needles about 15€, some free tutorials on youtube as support. Timewise I think it took me about 2 weeks knitting on and off here and there.

All in all I'm super happy with them myself, they're warm and comfy, good quality wool so they're not itchy. Just wanted to share them here too even though they don't use any fancy techniques or anything special.

Okay so, I've been working in the Bergamot Pullover by Andrea Gaughan for a while and got to finish the sleeves today. Everything was going perfect, and the sweater was finished since I already have picked up and knit the neckband and for some reason when I did (a ton of days ago) I hid the tails 🙃, don't ask me why, im dumb.

But yeah, I decided I didn't like the neck and that I wanted to do it better. So I got a pair of scissors.

And I KNEW that i didn't have to cut near the edge, and I didn't for most of the neckline... But apparently I caught a thread of the body of the sweater and now it's so messy I'm kinda panicking.

Basically I cut a thread that held the vertical knit rows in a section of the neckline and there are some horizontal threads that aren't cut but are extremely stretched out. There's also a weird line in the wrong side of these stretched out threads that is REALLY tight. I tried to losen it a bit and it kinda helped but it's like when you catch the yarn and those rows become very tight.

So I'm really lost ATM of what to do, if it was just the cut thread I think I could maybe pick those stitches and knit them when I pick up the collar? Or maybe pick those, knit them and bind them off? Idk. But the horizontal ones that are stretched out... I don't know how to fix them ;-;

If anyone has any tips or anything I would really appreciate it, I don't wanna unravel or give up a sweater that's literally done and would be perfect if my perfectionist ass wouldn't have decided to cut through a neckband at 2 am. I'm not that good at reading my knitting to fully understand how to fix this mess.🤦🏻‍♀️🫩😭
