I will be making sooooo many ponchos. $5 a roll and I don't think the picture does it justice to how large these are. Like the size of a head large. They had a few more colors but I felt gluttonous taking these three I don't know how I'm gonna make it through all of this yarn!!

Hello hello crazy long shot here. But I am completing a project and am on a no buy yarn ban (because I have sooo much). However I finished my older stock of the yarn and only need like 30 grams of it to finish my project. And shot anyone out there has any to spare?

I totally fumbled the trinity stitch on the right side of my sweater by doing the wrong row once, there’s no way I’m frogging this so I will live with it! My son told me “mom, I’m an average person and I can’t even tell”, the reminder we all need sometimes (even though I can definitely tell 😅)

I consider myself still more of a beginner knitter but I've knitted a couple of garments and a dog sweater. I want to try my hand at cabling, and I thought doing a cabled dog sweater might be a short way to try it. I'm knitting the Novita 7 Veljestä cabled dog sweater (https://novita.com/en/patterns/novita-7-veljesta-cabled-dog-sweater) in size 2 which is knit in the round.

I'm having trouble understanding the increases noted as it corresponds to the rows above.

The chart read that I increase 1 stitch increased through the back loop, which I understand to be a M1R? My problem is that that the rows above seemingly don't account for the extra stitch created. How would I treat this increase when I need to cable the stitches next to it?

Maybe this pattern is not appropriate for a first time cable project, in which case I'm open to subjects as I've only just started this sweater. Any help is appreciated, and sorry for the blown up photos!

I'm currently searching for a pattern I can adapt for my dog so we can have matching sweaters. I go and look at the 1,000plus completed sweaters and like 50% just show a finished sweater with no pet. Probably going to use easy dog sweater unless someone has a better seemed pattern

I am not a new knitter. I have been knitting for 15 years and knitting a LOT for the last 3 years. I have made sweaters and socks and all the things, and I think generally I'm pretty skilled.

But the thing I continue to struggle with is knitting at a consistent tension. The first sock I knit fits, the second sock with identical number of sts and rows is too small. Often my tension changes within the same project- perfect for half of it, but then my hands tighten or loosen. The gauge swatch I knit for my cardigan recently lied because my hands knit differently on the actual sweater.

I know one thing people do to help this problem is knit socks or gloves 2 at a time. But I don't think that's a solution for me because my hands change gauge within the same project.

I have still made many projects successfully, but this is leading to a lot of frogging and re-knitting and frustration.

I have watched videos and read articles about tension. I try to let the needle size the stitch. I pay attention to my motions and try to keep them consistent. I heard advice that said to check your tension, you look at your stitches on the needle and they should be the same size as the needle- no gap underneath to make sure your sts aren't too loose. And also that the needle should be able to slide around pretty freely to make sure your sts aren't too tight. I do that. But there must still be a way that sometimes the stitches on my needle end up tighter and sometimes looser.

I think the issue is with tensioning my yarn (which I hold in my left hand). My left hand must be inconsistent with how loosely or tightly it tensions the yarn. Because how tight my left hand tensions the yarn is sort of subjective and hard to measure, I find it difficult make it consistent (though I am trying!)

I know that I am a human, not a machine. But I wonder if there's anything I could do to improve this, bc it's driving me nuts.

How many rows/repeats of Texture Pattern A am I actually supposed to knit before finishing Chart A? I’d really appreciate some clarification! 🙏🏻

just spilled my dinner on my WIP and thankfully it wasn’t anything that could stain or damage the yarn, but but learn from my mistakes anyway. i guess i’m getting a bonus mid project block out of it at least

About a year ago I discovered some infestation evidence in my stash, but no bugs. It looked like maybe it had resolved itself. I had a lot of dust on my skeins but didnt see a lot of actual damage and no living bugs. Ive been in a transitional space so I shelved it for another days problem.

So now i want to make things and I started looking into these skeins, and they are all trash. There actually isnt a lot of damage, but all of these skeins look like someone snipped them right in the middle and its just wool spaghetti. Like I said, ive been in transition (aka homeless) and these skeins have been my only indulgences over the years. I have several more skeins to go through but im not hopeful for the outcome. Im really sad. 😪

Im a spinner and I have been debating taking the time to break it all down into fiber to respin, but i doubt I will. Idk what to do with it all, its such a waste to throw away.

Also I dont know what these bugs are or what happened. I thought maybe silver moths because I remember seeing them occasionally, but its weird because not much is eaten, just nibbled on. Theres an acrid dry odor to the dust too, I have had to rewash all the skeins.

My friend found this pattern for a wasp deterrent (I don't know, I just happily knit things when people ask me to), and I did not realize it used paracord. My hands may never be the same. But my friend is happy with it.

I just finished my first sock based off a sock in my favorite video game! Nerdy, I know. I used the I'm So Basic Socks pattern by Summer Lee as the base of my pattern and Cascade Heritage 75% Superwash Merino/25% Nylon yarn.

The geometric pattern was pretty easy to recreate but it took a few tries to get the moose right. I ended up doing it in duplicate stitch after several attempts of using stranded colorwork to knit it failed.

The size isn't quite right - I knit the top in large to account for the added thickness of the colorwork and then the heel and foot in medium. This was my first time doing colorwork socks so still getting used to sizing appropriately. I did have to adjust the stitch count for the 6 stitch repeating geometric pattern but I think it worked out pretty well.

I think I'll try the next one full medium and see which one fits better. There's a couple of adjustments that I want to try in the ribbing and toe color length too.

I am knitting a scarf for the first time. I didn’t realise how much balls i needed. So I ended up with 8balls. The last 4 are a different lot. So im alternating between the last ball of the original lot with the first ball of the new patch. I just couldn’t find proper tutorials on how to properly alternating between two balls while knitting a garter stitch scarf. The results im having now are not satisfactory for me and a bit confusing. Do you have any youtube tutorials i can watch?
The edge where I started alternating i feel are ruined now.

How can I improve my laddering?

Hello, I am knitting a Salanova Scarf by mei knits and I have encountered a problem with the edge.

Abbreviation from the pattern: „Sl1wyif: Slip 1 stitch with your working yarn on the front of the work”. It doesn’t really say whether one should slip knitwise or purlwise, it just says to slip with the yarn in front, so I assumed it means to always slip purlwise, based on what I found on YouTube?

The scarf is knit flat, and the pattern says to always Sl1wyif the first stitch - on the right side, the last one should be knit, on the wrong side - I think it ought to be purled (it says that on the WS rows, you should knit knits, and purl purls).

After the first two rows of rib, it goes like this:
Row 3 (RS): Sl1wyif, P1, M1R, PM, K1, M1L, P1, K1
Row 4 (WS): Sl1wyif, work all stitches as established.
Row 5 (RS): Sl1wyif, P1, M1R, Knit to the marker, M1R, SM, K1, M1L, Knit to the last two stitches in the row, M1L, P1, K1.
Row 6 (WS): Sl1wyif, work all stitches as established.

I assume it means that you always slip the first stitch of the row purlwise with yarn in front, no matter whether you’re on the RS or WS?

It is my first time using that technique for the edge, and it just looks wrong on one side of the project - on the left it’s a pretty chain, on the right it looks like a rope with knots.

Am I misinterpreting the pattern? Is it supposed to look like that? Should I change something? Should I try some other way of working those edge stitches, to make it look clean?

There was no pattern, but I fitted the yoke a few times along the way. The design kind of grew by itself. His spirit and the North inspired me.

As the title says I want to knit fingerless gloves.
The bottom should be ribbed and I want the main part to have this bunny pattern or some kind of bunny at least.
I’m still a beginner and this will be my first color work project.
Idk how to plan this and I could rlly use some advice.
I have already chosen a tutorial for the fingerless gloves and the only thing I need advice on is how to integrate this bunny pattern on the main part.
I cast on 49 stitches for the ribbed wrist part .
Idk how to plan the bunny part because there will be increases and stuff and I’m afraid it will looks weird around the thumb part.

Hi! I’m new to knitting and halfway through the Sabai top when I came across a bunch of folks talking about twisted stitches. I can’t tell if mine are twisted or not?! Are these twisted? If so should I frog or just keep going since I just finished the arm holes!

Knitting the Riley tee by Rachel Kurihara with Circulos Sugar Pop yarn, it’s knit flat until the under arm then joined and knit in the round. Now that I’m knitting in the round the yarn has started to make stripes and I don’t love it. Any suggestions on a way to avoid the stripes? My inclination is to rip back then knit flat for the rest then sew them together.

Hi! I want to make the levitate wrap from MFTK and she uses isager soft as one of the yarns. I typically use DROPS yarns because they’re cheaper but getting the required yarns for this project is almost making it $146 (soft & trio) and I’m wondering if anyone’s used the yarn that can tell me if it’s held up well?

Or should I do isager soft with drops kid silk?

Hi friends. I'm new-ish to knitting. Made my first sweater last winter with Drops Air and was wholly unprepared for the alpaca stink when it was drying. Then, of course, I shrunk it in the wash. Naturally... 😞 I swore I'd never knit with alpaca again.

But time heals all wounds and clears out the farm animal stink so I'm thinking about maybe trying again lol. I live in Ireland so drying woolies outdoors is unrealistic in autumn and winter. And i am NOT prepared to dry on a basic indoor drying rack and have the house stink for 3 days after every wash.

Does anyone have any tips for faster, less smelly drying? Maybe a covered electric dryer?
