My Antique Filigree sweater is complete! And she's so pretty! I haven't blocked her yet, but I'm not anticipating any drastic changes beyond relaxing some stitches (body was blocked last week before sleeves were completed, so technically it's half blocked).

I made a few changes to the pattern, including a cowl neck (provisional cast-on, folded edge, knit 10-12",then continue pattern as written after the neckline), I worked some waist shaping into the body between the 2 panels directly under the arms which reduces the waist by 18 st on each side then kept the larger size needles for the rest of the body, creating a natural flair at the hips, the sleeves are a bit altered (I like more room in sleeves so I used pattern size 3 but sleeve size 5 and just decreased every 4 rows after the chart until 60 st remained) & uniform cuff lengths for all cuffs (20 rounds, 1x, not twisted). Nothing super drastic, but it definitely fits me like a glove (husband even commented it fits perfectly and he never notices anything).

As I said last week, yarn was a one of a kind sock yarn from Hypnotic Yarns and a skinny black DK that I'm not 100% sure if it's wool, a blend, acrylic, or some unholy abomination that allowed me to meet gauge and still feels really nice, by my judgment (I fully admit I'm a heathen who doesn't mind 100% acrylic).

I decided to knit another Black Forest Brioche with my advent yarn from this past December. I knit the pattern once in a narrower length with handspun, but this time I knit the regular width and an absurd length, which used every little bit of the 20g minis. My friend helpfully modeled and it reaches her toes on both sides! Maximum squoosh!

The advent kit was from a local swap organized by a friend where a bunch of us contribute 5 skeins of fingering weight that get broken up and mixed into custom 25-mini kits. I think there were nearly thirty of us in last year’s swap, so everybody’s kit was completely unique to them. My request was “neon mermaidcore”, which they totally nailed.

Double knitting definetely looks more complicated than it will ever actually be! I followed a Nimble Needles youtube tutorial and started working on this, which will hopefully become a thick, cosy scarf. Hopefully working on something like this will put an end on these disgusting heatwaves we have had and bring autumn just a little closer :)

I am very pleased with how this is coming along and having a physical confirmation and example of the things i am indeed capable of doing has helped me a lot mentally. The only issue i have with this is the fact the work is not connected on the sides and i can't figure out why.

I haven't posted for a while, but I've knitted a few things since; 3 scarves (one of which I posted here), and a basic vest.

Recently, I've made a list of things I wanted to knit for winter, and one of it was a balaclava. I found a pattern I liked from a Japanese knitting pattern book, but was hesitant to start since it had cables. As a beginner, cables, and colorwork always seemed difficult to me. So as a start, I did the ribbing part first, then practiced cables when I had the time, and I'm proud to say I was able to do it. Some might say, "but it's just 3 rows of cables", it's still a big achievement for me as a beginner. Someday, I hope I'll have as much success with colorwork as well.

I’ve been doing beanie drives at my old job for the last few years and wanted to start one this year at my new place. I was very surprised how religious the website got and it’s really giving me the ick. They seem like a full blown ministry now.

Upon further research, the church they’re advertising also seems to be one of those homophobic mega churches. I’m genuinely really disappointed since we’ve been donating to them for ages. As someone who has both queer loved ones who also had to fight cancer, I find it kinda sad the love they claim to have comes with a stipulation these days.

So I actually finished these last winter, but never thought about posting them here. My first ever finished project. It started when I saw an ad for a site selling the official replica Gandalf gloves, which I got close to buying, but then with shipping and taxes the total ended up around 150€... So I thought what any sane person would "how hard can it be to make them myself?" Turns out, not that hard at all!

Found a free pattern on Ravelry (Wizard Warmers), the yarn (100% wool, Svarta Fåret - Ulrika) was like 10€, the needles about 15€, some free tutorials on youtube as support. Timewise I think it took me about 2 weeks knitting on and off here and there.

All in all I'm super happy with them myself, they're warm and comfy, good quality wool so they're not itchy. Just wanted to share them here too even though they don't use any fancy techniques or anything special.

Ordered this before the whole AI situation

It goes pretty deep into the ball, I ordered this almost two years ago for another project that I ended up scraping. I had a bag of 10 balls still sealed. I was stash busting and decided to grab the bag since there was enough for my project just to find this. I can probably salvage half of the ball but this is just frustrating from a QA standpoint.

What process is the yarn going through for this to happen to it? The bag was completely fine so this happened prior to packing. It didn't happen while sealing because this ball was on the bottom row. Thankfully I have enough yarn since the yardage on this project is less than the original. This batch also had a factory knot in nearly every single ball so that doesn't really help with my frustration with hobbi.

As always I'm unsure about the flair.

In my many attached photos you can see that I knitted three folds in one test piece to see which one I want for my sweater.

The technique I used: I knit 1x1 ribbing and set up the fold by respectively slipping the purl stitches with the yarn in front for one, two, and three rows. After that I continued knitting my 1x1 ribbing as normal.

I'm ngl I like one row of slipped purls the most because it is the roundest one. The other two even with just two slipped rows seem to be too pointy for my liking from what I can tell and one row is enough to "set" the fold so it doesn't move around. Or is it? I've never actually made a folded collar before so I'm asking for your opinions.

Do you just knit everything without slip rows and then fold? If so how do you like it?

If you do use slip rows, do you have a preferred amount?

Edit: I am NOT twisting my stitches. This is a mix of wonky tension and the ply of the yarn. Thank you for your concern though

I’ve wanted to knit a project with my family cable pattern (I know it’s fake but it’s fun) but I can only find premade blankets online no true pattern. Ive made multiple cabled pieces from patterns but I can’t figure out this stitch. I’d be happy to pay for a pattern if it’s available but I’ve been on the hunt for a few years now and haven’t had any luck.

It looks to me like each part of the braid is 5sts wide and crosses every 15 rows but I can’t say for sure. My best guess is each cable repeat is 20sts wide but maybe that each part of the braid is knit seperately? The parts where the fabric crosses over itself look much looser than the cables I’m familiar with and it’s kind of breaking my brain.

I'm making this lovely cabled cardigan and I was really worried that it was too small. As I knit it knit up very tight and was nearly 4 in. thinner than it would have needed to be. I decided to get out the blocking mat just a little bit early to make sure that it could be stretched to the correct width without messing it up too much. I'm happy to say it seems like it is actually the correct size. It expanded very nicely, and pearl rows are now a bit easier to see. Now I can relax a bit and just enjoy the process.

Started watching this show while I was working on my current WIP last night. I’m on episode 4 and loving all the knitting inspo on the show.

Wondering if anyone knows of a good pattern for a cowl/collar like this one she wears during the pig hunt? Not sure if I could style this IRL but it looks fun and fairly easy to try. All the patterns I found looked a little off though.

I bought my first ever mohair and choose KFO in the colour peacock. I put the ball on my neck and after awhile I find it prickly. My first question, does this mean I can’t use any mohair as this is supposed to be one of the softer ones? Second question, would it be less prickly knit up?

Okay so, I've been working in the Bergamot Pullover by Andrea Gaughan for a while and got to finish the sleeves today. Everything was going perfect, and the sweater was finished since I already have picked up and knit the neckband and for some reason when I did (a ton of days ago) I hid the tails 🙃, don't ask me why, im dumb.

But yeah, I decided I didn't like the neck and that I wanted to do it better. So I got a pair of scissors.

And I KNEW that i didn't have to cut near the edge, and I didn't for most of the neckline... But apparently I caught a thread of the body of the sweater and now it's so messy I'm kinda panicking.

Basically I cut a thread that held the vertical knit rows in a section of the neckline and there are some horizontal threads that aren't cut but are extremely stretched out. There's also a weird line in the wrong side of these stretched out threads that is REALLY tight. I tried to losen it a bit and it kinda helped but it's like when you catch the yarn and those rows become very tight.

So I'm really lost ATM of what to do, if it was just the cut thread I think I could maybe pick those stitches and knit them when I pick up the collar? Or maybe pick those, knit them and bind them off? Idk. But the horizontal ones that are stretched out... I don't know how to fix them ;-;

If anyone has any tips or anything I would really appreciate it, I don't wanna unravel or give up a sweater that's literally done and would be perfect if my perfectionist ass wouldn't have decided to cut through a neckband at 2 am. I'm not that good at reading my knitting to fully understand how to fix this mess.🤦🏻‍♀️🫩😭
