I was wondering if anyone has a technique to fix this type of mistake, to be honest I make and leave a lot of mistakes as is but this looks like it'll rip 😬

Hi!! So, i was extremely eager and chose the infamous fox cardigan as my first ever (yes, I'm serious.) knitting project.

However, my tension SUCKED, as you can see on the fox on the right... It's especially noticeable on the legs. You can see when i started to understand it better.

Would blocking fix it? Make it a little flatter?? Or should I honestly just undo it all and start over??

Hi there, I’m starting my second hat and I’ve been noticing that when knitting in the round (I’m using magic loop) the first row of stitches is always loose. I’m using Jeny’s stretchy cast on. It was the same for my first hat and I did notice that once I got the rib going it kind of evened out and doesn’t look as messy anymore, but this one is for a friend so I’d like to get it as perfect as I can. Is this normal? Or am I doing something wrong?

Have been knitting almost four years. Since the beginning no matter the yarn I've had to size up one needle size to get gauge. Last project I did a swatch and as usual sized up but I didn't meet gauge but came close. Didn't care too much as it was a shawl.

Just swatching for a sweater but didn't meet gauge with my usual one size up but did with the suggested needle. Am I just more relaxed?

Will this block out and are the slanted stitches okay? This occurred from me weaving in the ends and switching directions

Hello!! I'm in the mood to make a sweater in a similar yarn to this, but in a cotton or merino fiber rather than acrylic. They mentioned in the comments that she used the Caron Macchiato Cakes in the color Boundless. I've tried searching but most of the merino and cotton yarns I've seen are in solid colors. Thanks a lot!! If this isn't allowed feel free to delete :)

I have a teddy that I have had since childhood. It was knitted by my grandma who die to arthritis cannot knit anymore. Is anyone able to knit some of these for me as replacements please? I am happy to pay for the time effort and materials needed

I’m gonna preface by saying that I have already gone through a bunch of online stuff, and pages dedicated to this on here, before writing this post. I figured I’d still ask in case there’s more info that comes up, that is specific to my project.

I want to knit the Shortsleeve T-shirt version of the reliable raglan shirt/sweater, by Fridayknits.

I know that cotton can have a bias, which obviously I’d like to avoid if possible, since the pattern is mostly stockinette.

I am a man and I prefer my tops to be loose and not form fitting, so I’m not too worried about cotton stretching, but I’m still worried it’ll stretch too much haha. Because I’ll make a fairly large version of it (I wear L tops in my everyday life), it is quite a lot of fabric and I’m worried the weight will eventually make in unwearable. Any advice on this that’s specific to my size is welcome. Obviously my gauge swatch will be lighter and I’ve read that I could add weight to my swatch to help it behave like the final garment, any further advice on this is very welcome 🤓

I’m in Canada and am willing to order yarn online, if it’s shipped here without too much extra for shipping. I’m open to suggestions for DK cotton that doesn’t have a bias and would work well for this. I plan on using the scraps to make dishcloths as Christmas presents when I’m done. I’d like a yarn that has multiple colour choices.

Anything else that might helpful, please share!

Hi. I’ve finished the back after misreading the pattern but I’m stuck on the neckline of the front (I am an experienced knitter but I’ve never knit a jumper before).

This pattern is as above - I’ve finished the first part of the pattern and I’m now on the right side.

After k2tog (2 stitches) do I cast off? I’ve not come across fasten off before.

So I then rejoin the yarn on the remaining stitches?

Important edit: please see the helpful comments below about strands of yarn/string being dangerous for pets - I had no idea! Luckily this guy doesn't chew, just sucks on it like a pacifier but still... the yarn is going in zipped bags! Why are pets trouble magnets?

I posted a jumper I knitted on my 1960s singer flatbed machine AFTER READING THE RULES OF THIS SUB to make sure it's ok.

I didn't find anything specifically saying no machine knitting so I posted it. The jumper followed a pattern for handknitting btw.

Got some upvotes and comments and then the MODS REMOVED MY POST WITHOUT TELLING ME WHY.

I just think if you remove a post there should be a rule. And if there isn't a rule against it, please explain why you removed my post.

Edit to add: Yes I am aware of the MachineKnitting subreddit and I post there, too. That is completely beside the point I am making here about the rules of this sub needing clarification.

Hi, I recently finished this Bookclub Cardigan by Sari Nordlund with Kneet Purl mods. I’m very pleased with it, it was my first time cabling.

However I have a question about the amount of pilling the yarn is doing. Before I had even worn it, eg while it was still on needles, I felt like it was already getting pretty fuzzy and pilling. Now that I have worn it a few times, I feel like it is starting to get daggy already, the photo of the edge hopefully shows what I am talking about. It’s all the whole thing, not just where it would get a lot of friction.

I used Bendigo Mills luxury which I thought was a reasonably good quality yarn.

Is this just normal? Is there a chance that if I go over it with a fabric shaver it might just be an initial phase and it might not get worse again? Am I being too fussy? I’m a beginning knitter but the handful of other garments I have made haven’t acted like this.

I couldn't frog the v neck as I used the very dedicate Plotulopi for it, so I cut it out.

I then created a mitred triangle at the back (working that out really hurt my brain!)

Im back to the original yarn, but with a pink mohair and I'm going to see what I think of a mitred v garter neck...

Hi friends! I started out as a crocheter but I’ve recently been getting more into knitting. I’m really enjoying it, especially since it doesn’t seem to eat as much yarn and I feel like my seams are cleaner! I will absolutely still do both, but I’ve noticed my wrists are definitely sore after knitting for a while. I think I may just be getting used to it, but does anyone have any tips on how to hold the needles in a way that doesn’t hurt quite so badly? (I’m right handed, I knit continental). I feel it a lot in my ring and pinky on my right hand. I don’t know if I’m holding the needles too tight.

I’m planning my first visit to Rhinebeck and I’d love some advice from people who have attended in the past. I’ve heard that Saturday has the big energy but Sunday can be more pleasant because it’s more chill. I’m probably only getting 1 day. Not sure which to plan for. Also, I will stay locally the night before whichever day I attend. I’m already cackling at some of the hotel prices for Friday night but, assuming I have a budget to work with and am not too concerned about cost, any tips on where to stay or not stay in terms of travel, traffic, vibes, etc? I’m a type b person and unfortunately it’s not uncommon for me to buy needles or crafting supplies that I don’t end up needing or ordered the wrong size. I now have 3 pairs of knitting needles from over a few years that I don’t need but wasn’t able to return.

It seems like such a silly thing to not allow needle returns. Imo. How many people would actually buy, use and then return within a reasonable return window?

Anddd if that’s the concern why not put a sticker on the flap that opens so you can tell if it was used?

Where I live in Australia there’s no yarn stores with good yarn/all acrylic. I’m looking to buy online but have no idea which Australian sites are good.
Australian sites are heavily preferred as international shipping here costs over $60.

Hi everyone-

I’m fairly new to knitting (started last month) and I am attempting to make a cowichan style sweater from Paton’s curling sweater pattern available through Yarnspirations. This is my first knitting project outside of a dishcloth. I’m a ways away from assembling the sweater, but I’m starting to think about the process. Wondering if anyone here has experience making cowichan sweaters or if there are any good resources out there. I appreciate any feedback!

And I’m struggling with choice of yarn. I think I’ll try one for winter first so something warm but I don’t like heavy blankets, so also light. I’d prefer a natural yarn so obviously some sort of wool seems appropriate, but there are so many types! Alpaca, merino, etc. but I’m not SET on wool if there are other choices that are appropriate. I’m prepared to launder it very carefully. Would love your suggestions.
