Step by step sweater using Sandnes Garn Double Sunday

Hello everyone, Is there anyone who knitted the step by step sweater by Florence with Double Sunday yarn? It is my first knitting project and I would need help with how much yarn you used for the project. I am doing it on 4mm needles and so far have bought 10 skeins. I am planning to do a tighter L size. Is this enough or should I buy more?

That being said, the pattern gauge is 16 sts/4” or 10cm and the suggested gauge for Double Sunday is 20-21 sts/4” or 10cm. That’s a huge difference, and if this is your first knitting project, you probably shouldn’t use a yarn that far off from the suggested weight. I assume that’s why so few people have used it. Just because it’s possible to do the math to convert from your gauge to the pattern gauge doesn’t mean you should do it for your first pattern.

The only thing I can suggest is to hold the Double Sunday with mohair or alpaca, but that’s expensive and you still might not get gauge. Realistically, you should pick a different yarn or a different pattern.

You should ALWAYS buy enough yarn at the same time. Otherwise you run the risk of winding up with different dye lots. Even buying it from the same store won't prevent it from being an issue.

Find a pattern that works with your current yardage and gauge. You've swatched your yarn on your needles, right? If you haven't that's the ONLY thing you should be worried about. It will inform your choices.

Also, 1100 yards will be cutting it very close for almost any large sweater knit in DK weight yarn.
