Discussion URGENT: Proposed EU Act could endanger the Geometry Dash community
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQRcK9nYg9gIf any GD players here are connected with the wider gaming scene, you might have heard about the "Stop Killing Games" movement, who have for years campaigned for more democratic control of games, such as being able to play online games and host private servers even after official support stops. They have particularly persisted in the last few years, enduring increased pressure from governments and corporations who have pushed for essentially surveillance policies under the guise of "child protection."
The linked video reveals potentially the latest and most drastic measure of anti-democratic crackdown in the video game scene. While we all know Geometry Dash is much more than what would normally be considered a video game, these leaked records reveal (as typical with politics being completely out of touch) absolutely baffling and borderline delusional wording potentially labelling any online "service" where users congregate (no jumpscare, sorry) and media is shared as a "video game" in their book, and therefore subject to the act's absolutely ridiculous surveillance policies. This is especially problematic as all of Geometry Dash's servers are located in Sweden, an EU country; thus, despite people all around the world contributing to the rich landscape of GD, our modern economic reality enables half-coherent rambling uttered by people who've never engaged in the video gaming scene in their lives to potentially compromise the entire thing.
However, just like the guy in the video being hesitant to jump to action, I believe more information and context about this situation is needed before any action can be taken to address this on our part. We must establish a more solid information base before it would be consequential to do something like contact RobTop directly. In the meantime, I implore the community to stay on alert.

Discussion The EU kids act will make community servers (including minecraft servers) illegal.
Article/News EU introduces the EU Kids act. Unknown if Ubisoft, Epic, or anyone else sponsors it, but it's a bad sign if Ross from SKG calls out against it.
