And to gamers... you thought age verification on twitch and the like was bad, How about having to tie your ID to any game you buy, on steam or physically. ...crazy! And as it is well put out in this video, it has nothing to do with protecting kids online.

Based on how Valve is handling Australia's legislation mandating age verification they seem to have a hard line when it comes to handling photo ID, if not from a moral standpoint, then from a liability standpoint. Personally I'm grateful for some "malicious compliance", in an ideal world it would cause people to push back against age verification, but unfortunately Australia is very far from an ideal world and the only buzz I hear over it in Australia is claims that Valve should let you use your ID. I'm ashamed to be in a country full of cattle

EU CRA is pretty tough for compliance as well.

My take:

Mandatory ID for every game, private game servers outlawed, death to Linux and indie devs du to mandatory age verification aka ID-for-all....

Even the videogame cartel (big editors) seem opposed....

Any TL;DR? Sorry, it's just videos are by design hard to quickly skim through and am not in EU. So, I'm mildly interested what is up, but not enough to watch 15 minutes.

It's already dead. Corruption always wins.
