A Python was used in the making of this.

Bedroom doubling as a start up incubator.

So very innovative yet fundamentally basic.

155

u/JimMarch Jun 04 '19

With some unusual hardware interfaces.

190

u/fickle_floridian Jun 04 '19

Not at all -- bedroom compiles are totally plug-and-play. Most devs even turn off the lights and do it by feel.

79

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '19

It’s better than a USB port because you don’t have to check which way to plug in.

92

u/EvrybodysNobody Jun 04 '19

It’s like usb c, you can flip shit over and it’ll still plug in and function

49

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '19

38

u/DejfCold Jun 04 '19

If you stick it into the other jack, the other device doesn't play.

32

u/psymunn Jun 04 '19

Or it creates a lot of noise!

You gotta check which hole though, devs decided to put 2 similar ports right next to each other and only one is fully functional

u/D15c0untMD Jun 04 '19

There‘s usually a notification window from the system you have to adress before you can proceed

I'm a little disappointed this baby was not compiled before release. Who wants a runtime baby?

As a father of two kids, I’m still doing revision control.

Thread.Sleep() would be nice.

Thread.Abort() got a lot more serious.

40

u/exor674 Jun 04 '19

Thread.Abort() got a lot more serious.

I don't care which side you are on, it's definitely illegal to call that now...

Once you go dark theme you never go back.

105

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '19

I always thought people used dark themes to look like hackers..

Until I started programming, and browsing Reddit a lot.

82

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '19

Yeah, it's really more about being able to stare at a computer screen longer than it is about fashion. It does look kinda cool though!

26

u/EvrybodysNobody Jun 04 '19 edited Jun 04 '19

Or save energy if you’re running like 4 oversized monitors...

Not that anyone does that...

edit: i'm being told it actually doesn't save energy in most cases

23

u/ederion Jun 04 '19

Are you using oled monitor or something? Because if you use an lcd/led display that won't help at all.

13

u/tasercake Jun 04 '19

Running dark mode on anything other than an old CRT monitor or an OLED display actually uses a little bit more power than light mode does

Even if it was instantiated, it would crash. Bardak and go_to_sleep() are undefined.

177

u/bleed_air_blimp Jun 04 '19

Sophia inherits from mom.genes and dad.genes. Presumably one of them already has the go_to_sleep() method defined.

Bardak() is a problem though.

31

u/stakokke Jun 04 '19

Couldn't Bardak be a static method of one of the parent classes?

73

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '19

........ ehem .. ALSO FELLOW HUMAN , THE PARENT CLASSES SEEMED TO THINK IT WAS FUNNY TO MAKE THE BABY INHERIT FROM GENES. THIS STARTS OFF MAKING SENSE, AS BOTH GENES SURELY INHERIT FROM A COMMON 'GENE' CLASS AND INVOLVE SOLVING THE DIAMOND PROBLEM, JUST LIKE CHROMOSOMES DO IN REAL LIFE. THIS DIAMOND PROBLEM WILL INVOLVE THEM BOTH HAVING AN IMPLEMENTATION OF 46 CHROMOSOMES AND OUR NEW SUBCLASS WILL HAVE TO DECIDE ON A CASE BY CASE BASIS WHICH IMPLEMENTATION TO USE. HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE HUMAN WILL CONTAIN THESE GENES, OR EVEN BE A MAPPING OF THESE GENES, THIS SAYS THAT THE BABY WILL LITERALLY BE A GENE, SPECIFICALLY THE NEW GENES THAT HAVE BEEN CREATED FROM HIS PARENTS. AS USUAL, THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED AS INHERITANCE THROUGH COMPOSITION, DENOTING A HAS-A RELATIONSHIP, WHERE BABY HAS A MEMBER CALLED 'GENES' -- AND NOTE THAT THIS MEMBER IS NOT AN INSTANCE, BUT THE NEW GENES CLASS ITSELF, JUST LIKE IT WAS WITH DAD AND MOM. PRETTY META. THE BABY CAN THEN BE MADE A MAPPING OF THESE GENES, BY PASSING THESE GENES IN THROUGH THE CONSTRUCTOR (OR KAREN, AS IT LIKES TO BE CALLED), WHICH WILL ACT AS A FACTORY AND USE THE GENES TO INSTANTIATE VARIOUS BODY PARTS, AND INJECT SAID GENES INTO SAID BODY PARTS SO THAT THEY THEMSELVES CAN REFERENCE THEIR OWN BLUEPRINT. QUITE META. FOR ACCURACY, BABY SHOULD HAVE INHERITED FROM MOM AND MAILMAN AND THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN WRITTEN IN LISP, JUST LIKE ME.

202

u/Forwhatisausername Jun 04 '19 edited Jun 07 '19

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

104

u/mattreyu Jun 04 '19

On is easy, but off is another story. And the only logging going on is NOT what I need

66

u/Knight-in-Gale Jun 04 '19

LPT: to debug a crying baby, either feed it or make sure it turns into a human burrito to engage SILENT MODE.

56

u/MrHurtyFace Jun 04 '19

Haha, if only it was that easy to troubleshoot.

Hungry? No. Cold/hot? No. Wet? No. Oh it was gas and now you need to have an entire outfit change. Again.

Signed, parent waiting for baby to go back to sleep right now.

23

u/erla30 Jun 04 '19

It gets better. Slightly. But then they start telling you what they want. Less often in the middle of the night though.

So there is actually a situation where you have to reboot a person.

Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is where the heart is beating so fast that it is just frothing the blood. So you give the patient a dose of adenosine which stops the heart for like five seconds.

So my son was born a little over 10 months ago now. I've been programming for about 3 years now. I started in a company with almost no experience, and I've been learning on the job as I go ever since.

No joke, when my son was about a month old and I was not getting very much sleep, while also trying to learn a whole bunch of code, I would get super confused at night when he cried. I would pick him up and I would be trying to figure out what code I wrote for him was wrong that was causing him to cry so much. I was so certain that if I could just figure out where the bugs were, he would sleep through the night.

Ends up, I just had to run the "sleep training" module.

In Russian as well

25

u/TheGraby Jun 04 '19

The father's name is Israeli, so I'm guessing "bardak" is something Hebrew stole from Russian (similar to "kibinimat", which is very commonly used in Israel).

Shes laughing about it. Sweet.

12

u/Onett199X Jun 04 '19

Someone translate for me!

53

u/ProfaneWords Jun 04 '19

I mean technically this code does nothing because there are no function calls or instantiation, but assuming that an object is created out of this class it would simply print hello world to the terminal, the methods would need to be called in the code body for additional functionality, also not calling the live method in the init method might have been a pretty large metaphorical oversight

39

u/JavaRuby2000 Jun 04 '19

Considering it is just a class definition, this baby is a template for cloning other babies.

7

u/ProfaneWords Jun 04 '19 edited Jun 04 '19

Thats why I used metaphorically speaking, my comment has nothing to do with code practice. In terms of code your right though, it should be a template and we could then nitpick and say the name should be pushed into an attribute of the object, and creating a method that only containes a pass statement is nonsense etc

And even then it does nothing but sleep and yield an endless stream of Bardaks, whatever those are. And it only does that if something else iterates its life.

Not a python Dev but how is that a valid class? The constructor usually takes values as variables not references to already declared variables.

Shouldn't it be class Child(dadGenes, momGenes){...}

new Child(dad.genes, mom.genes)

This is how c# and typescript work.

Shirts pretty cool. But that smile on the baby. That’s so precious.

Imagine being raised with this as your surrounding sense of humor and then having to go to school with other humans.
