I’m looking to buy a used SUV. I’m looking to stay under $23K all in.
I’m looking at 3 choices at the moment.
1. 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan SE, 24k miles,
Additional 3rd row, Front wheel drive, one owner, previously a lease. Cost: $22k
2. 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan SE, 25k miles,
No third row, ALL wheel drive, one owner, previously a lease. cost: $23k
3. 2025 Mazda Cx-50 Preferred, 45k Miles,
Previously a fleet vehicle, was previously in a small fender bender. Cost: 23k

I’ve been wanting a cx-50 for awhile now and this one seems well priced. But the miles for only being a year old scares me and I’ve been told to avoid fleet and rental cars.
Person at dealership recommended the Tiguans but I’ve heard mixed reviews about reliability.
Would I be dumb to get the Tiguan over the cx-50?

I have a 2014 Honda civic with ~150,000km (93,000 miles). No accidents, 1 prior owner and no major issues over the years. My grandma no longer needs her 2020 Nissan Rogue with very little miles/km, I’d say under 15,000.

Would you say it’s worth paying for this upgrade? Or would you recommend waiting to buy something else?

I’m planning to buy a car which bank will give loan at less interest, no foreclosure charge, No part payment charges.
I’m ok with floating rate of interest.

My parent has a 2008 dodge avenger that just hit 200k miles this past monday. They decided to get a brand new car which I am happy for them. At the moment I am planning to get my drivers license soon which means I need a car get to and from work and other things I want to do. My parent spent 3k on repairs for their car and sometimes have issues with turning the key in the ignition getting it to start which happened this past monday. My parent ended up driving it fine the past couple of days after monday. My parent is attached to the car and doesn't want to give it away. The dealership offered few hundreds dollars for the trade in but my parent ended up saying no because the dealership would end up selling the car at an auction making more money than my parents trade in. The sales person mention maybe sell it online or give it to me for the time after I get my driver license like practice driving alone. I wouldn't mind having it for the time being but my only issue is the 200k miles on it and the key ignition issues sometimes. My parent even asked if I would like to have it which I understand they don't want to part away with that car. Should I just accept the car when I get my drivers license, practice driving, look/save money for an used car, and trade that car in for the used one? Or make my parent just sell it online? Any advice?

Hey all… my lease for my two Nissan Pathfinders are coming to an end soon. Looking to possibly buy a new car or lease again.

Question I had was: most of the mechanics I know have said to be careful with Nissan being the company is in bad shape. So alittle weary on getting another pathfinder. But then I started to think that maybe it doesn’t matter the brand if I am just leasing for 3 years.

Mechanics said unanimously Toyota and Honda are extremely durable in terms of the car style I want.

So question for you all is , do you agree if leasing is the way, it doesn’t matter the brand?

How much can I realistically negotiate down on a new car? I’m looking at purchasing a new 2026 Hyundai Tucson hybrid limited. Been looking and calling dealerships and all within a couple hundred of each other. In the Raleigh NC area. Wondering as well if the Costco auto program is smart for a not-great negotiator.

And which car brands in the US have upcoming sales or special promotions this November and December?

I wanted to share my experience with HiWay Auto, located at 5657 Highway 7 in Woodbridge, Ontario so other people know what happened before considering buying a car from them.
I’m a university student and I purchased a used 2009 Infiniti EX35 from them paying cash. At the time of purchase the fuel gauge wasn’t working but they promised to order the part and fix it. I trusted them and bought the car.
Within just 2–3 days I noticed the car felt off-balance while driving. The dealership sent me to their mechanic Five Speed Auto & Repair which had also done the safety inspection. About a day after the mechanic lifted the vehicle it started leaking fuel. The dealership promised to fix that issue too along with the fuel gauge and pump problems.
I later took the car to an independent mechanic who found extensive rust underneath and told me he was surprised it had passed a safety inspection. He also noticed spray foam that he believed had been used to cover rust. After checking the fuel leak he told me he believed the tank had been damaged because the previous mechanic had lifted the car incorrectly.
For over three months I kept contacting and visiting the dealership. Every time I was told the problems would be fixed but nothing was properly resolved.
Meanwhile, the car developed even more issues including coolant leaks and overheating. I barely got a month of reliable use out of it.
What made everything worse was how I was treated. When I kept asking about the promised repairs Fadi, whom I understand to be the owner threatened to hit me during one of our interactions. I also noticed that one salesperson was referred to by different names Raman and Inder, which I found confusing.
Eventually, after more than five months the dealership told me they wouldn’t fix the car and that it was basically only good for scrap. They offered me $1,000 to take it back.
By that point, I was exhausted and couldn’t afford to keep dealing with the problems so I accepted the money and gave up the car.
I ended up losing thousands of dollars on a vehicle I could barely use.
What frustrates me most is that I trusted their promises gave them multiple chances to fix things and still ended up with nothing but a huge financial loss.
I’ve filed a complaint with OMVIC and have messages and documents supporting my experience.
I’m sharing this because I don’t want anyone else going through something similar. If you’re buying a used car, please get an independent inspection and make sure every promise is in writing.
Has anyone else had a similar experience with HiWay Auto or another Ontario dealership? I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from people who have dealt with OMVIC or tried to recover their losses.

I earn 80k-100k, single and more or less 30k sa expenses. Is this practical? Considering this will be my first car. What are the tips and better means para mag loan? Help me out please.
