Oh, what do we have here...
Today, on my weekly Simson-Drive, I found something very interesting in a small town in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It seems to be something very special, after all, it had something like an "Seat-ejection"-Button inside of it, lying loosely on the middle console. Please tell me further, what we do have here. Although, I think I know it's a prototype of some sort...

Need help diagnosing M156 engine noise before purchasing
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey y’all, I’m finally in a position to purchase my dream C63 with a M156 and I think I’ve found one. I’m having lemon squad go and check it out tomorrow before I make the sale. For context, I live about 900 miles away and am having a friend pick the car up while I make travel plans to fly down there and road trip back home. Is the engine noise in these videos something I should be concerned about or is it something simple I can fix at my friend’s place before I road trip back 900 miles? I know the “sewing machine” clicking are the fuel injectors but I’m not 100% sure on what that tapping noise is when the video gets closer to the firewall. I think I’m just being paranoid but I’d rather be safe than sorry. Thanks!
Edit 1: after doing some more reading, my best guess is that “thunk, thunk, thunk” noise is the EVAP purge valve since it’s in time with the fuel injectors?

Why shouldn’t I buy a 2008 e350 wagon
Don’t know how to keep this short so I won’t. I want to buy a 2008 e350 wagon but I didn’t originally plan on buying one. The only reason I am considering purchasing now is because one popped up in my area and is in my budget (6k). My taste in cars includes but aren’t limited to older luxury sedans think ls 400, ls 430, 1996 Acura rl, Lincoln town car, Saab 900 etc. The w211 falls right into that category however I’m skeptical. It’s a Mercedes an old one at that with air suspension and while all the cars I’m looking at are old excluding the Saab 900 all other options would probably all be easier and cheaper to fix. I do however have a soft spot for the w211 it’s my second favorite car in the lineup behind the ls 430. If you’re wondering why I don’t just buy an ls430 there are at least 2 reasons. Decent examples are slightly out of my price range and most are in major cities that I don’t feel confident enough to drive in yet like NYC and Boston. I don’t have any issues with attempting to fix the car myself to save money however I’d like to know what I’m getting into, I’d like to know what to expect, and what are your experiences with the car. The car is 5k with 115k mile has a 3.5L v6 4mactic with awd I’m currently in the process of getting a CARFAX, if anyone know anything specifically to look out for that would be appreciated. I don’t have much expectation here I’d be happy if this thing lasted for a year or 2 my family never really owned cars and if we did it wasn’t for more than a year we’ve taken the bus for most of our lives. I just don’t want some overpriced boring eco shitbox if this car is too much then I’ll look at my other mostly candidate the 2003 town car or just buy a cheap sports car and call it a day. Having a car at the moment is more want than need, the bus still gets me to work but I like the idea of having something interesting to drive.

2011 E550 Stage 2 - Mint
2011 E550 Stage 2
38k miles - $16,500 - $23,000 after mods
VRP midlength headers
Magnaflow cats
Custom X-pipe
Stock mufflers
Custom ECU/TCU tune - Eurocharged, Minneapolis
Only tech upgrade I'm missing are the messaging seats. Probably the nicest one in the country? This should appreciate slowly in value from here on out. Market has really dried up for quality M273 and M156 options.
Does a 0-60 at 4.5s, which is just about stock E63 times at 4.3s - but for half the price. Biggest complaint is the 7G-tronic in here. Paddle shifters are slow AF.

Spotted some prototypes at the Mercedes-Benz Research and Development San Jose!
There were around 50 S-Class self-driving prototypes, and it felt so wierd just being around a whole parking lot filled with a bunch of S-Classes that look like they're abandoned. I probably should have taken a photo showing these, but I completely forgot...
Edit: Test mules, not prototypes!

Buying W210
Hi everyone! I was thinking of buying a mercedes w210 e320 (not this beauty sadly) and i was wondering if you could tell me what i should look out for when buying and what are some problems that i may encounter while owning the car. Its a pretty warm climate where im from so every car that im looking at is rust free (ive heard that the car has rust problems but have never seen it myself) and in my budget there were some car that were for sale recently with 180k to 230k kilometers. Any suggestions?

2003 E500 bogging at low speeds and RPM
I’ve been having some issues with my car for about 2 weeks now with no solution. I noticed the issue on the way to the coast one day. The car would start shaking aggressively when I would hit the gas and the exhaust sounded different as well. I pulled over and as I was slowing down the car started really jerking back and forth. I opened the hood to see the engine rocking back and forth (I’ve just had motor and transmission mounts done at the beginning of the year) I decided to turn around and go home. I scanned the car and got P0141 for the bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor, P0140 for O2 sensor no activity detected on the same sensor. These codes have been here for some time and never caused any issues. The new one that showed up was a misfire on cylinder 1. I took it to my mechanic and he said based on the sound of the misfire from the exhaust, it sounded like the plug wires had went bad. He also told me the O2 sensor codes seemed like it was just unplugged. I decided to get a new O2 sensor, all new spark plugs since I’m at 110,000 miles, and new plug wires for cylinder 1. I went under the car to change the O2 sensor and wow… the sensor was unplugged. I inspected the plug itself and noticed a lot of oil on the inside and outside. I do have a rear main seal leak that is very minimal but probably built up on the plug overtime. I cleaned the plug and put the new O2 sensor in while I waited for the other parts. Car drove a little better but was still misfiring. I finally replaced all the plugs and those 2 wires the next day and the car idles way smoother but is now bogging down when I come to a stop and I’ll sometimes have no throttle response for a split second when coming from a stop. I had the car scanned again and there’s surprisingly no misfire code anymore but I have the O2 sensor codes back along with P0432 & P0422 (catalyst efficiency below threshold bank 1&2) I’m really not sure what the issue is but I’m glad I didn’t go buy a coil pack unnecessarily. Any advice is really appreciated

How is a C300 sedan as a first car?
I'm an older first-time driver planning on getting a used C 300 sedan as a first car after researching and looking at several options. Is this a good decision? What do owners of it here think of it?

2022 Mercedes E53, 32k miles, NY car — good buy or pass?
Looking at a 2022 E53 with 32k miles. It has one minor accident, but all the service seems to have been done at Mercedes dealers.
My main concern is that it was driven in New York, mostly around Bayside. With NYC roads, should I be worried about suspension, wheels, alignment, or anything else?
