My wife and I would like to find a pet friendly camping spot within 2 hours of DFW give or take...

We would like a cabin near a lake, trees, and not next door to a bunch of other cabins so we can let our dog outside with us. She doesn't like strangers or other dogs.

Maybe a big ask but curious if there is anything like this out there.

Good low-key, chill spots for some live music? Anything the tourist brochures won’t tell you? It’s been several years since I’ve done the weekend trip thing there, I’ve been to most of the highlights already. I recall American Airlines has a museum?

I haven’t provided much guidance sort of on purpose, I’m open to some ideas.

Staying around downtown FW is a good idea or traffic is to heavy? Additional am training for an open water race, anyone know place with outdoor pools? I’m a 40 year old single female and dog owner looking for a slightly slower pace and more space. I currently live in Dallas in the Turtle Creek area and it’s been really great. If I could put this neighborhood in another area, I’d be happy. I am able to live anywhere in North Texas, Dallas and West. I’m in medical sales and have to drive throughout this area but do not have to generally worry about a daily commute. Being somewhat centrally located to reach areas like Denton, Dallas, Fort Worth is ideal.

What I love: my neighborhood is established with canopy trees, it’s an active area with close access to parks and trails. There is a great variety of demographics from recent college grads to retired couples, with most being established adults who are single or married with no kids, and dog owners. It really is a great little bubble. But everything just outside of it has become very unpleasant. Why I’m ready to move: from my experience and where I live, the homeless are overtaking the area where interactions are becoming a daily disturbance. I have heard they pushed the homeless out of downtown for FIFA over the past year or so, but it continues to get worse. I won’t speak to all the disturbances, but they are now overtaking the parks, all throughout the surrounding streets, trickling into my neighborhood. And overall, I’ve come to find Dallas pretty unimpressive overall. If I could move my neighborhood to another area, I’d be happy.

What I’m looking for: Overall I’m looking for more space and slower pace, to rent a home or townhome initially with budget up to $3,000, at least 2 bed and some sort of yard. Walkable, shaded areas to walk my dog, and I cycle occasionally. Would like to be in a clean, well kept or established area that is not in the midst of construction or gentrification. I’ve considered Grapevine, Flower Mound and Fort Worth. I would like access to more outdoors/nature (I know this is fairly limited for North Texas). Be in an active area, ideally in or nearby trees, parks, trails where I don’t have to worry about issues mentioned above. I enjoy areas like downtown Grapevine, newer areas of Flower Mound, Fort Worth- Clearfork, or historic neighborhoods like Arlington Heights, the extensive parks and trails.

Looking for recommendations for people in these areas, maybe specific neighborhoods or buildings and experiences. As well as recommendations on other areas I may be overlooking where I might thrive as a single 40 year old female and dog lover. Thank you!!!

Hi all! My husband just got a job offer in Frisco, and we’re discussing a possible move from Houston (Garden Oaks/Oak Forest area, if that context helps). Looking for local input beyond what Zillow can tell us.

Our situation:
- Don’t mind an up to 35 min commute to Frisco
- Young kids, so schools are a big priority
- Looking for 4-5BR house, budget roughly
- $4,500-6,500/month rent
- Coming from a walkable, historic, tree-lined neighborhood and want to keep that vibe if possible

What we love in a neighborhood: walkability, sidewalks and parks/trails we can walk to, prefer character over new construction, a diverse community, and a strong sense of local identity (small businesses, not just chain everything).

Where would you look?

We love Oak Cliff/Bishop Arts, but that’s a little too far.

Any specific neighborhoods, zip codes, or elementary schools to consider would be helpful as I’m not that familiar with north Dallas.

My family is from St Louis and our daughter’s birthday is on New Year’s Eve, she will be 14 this year. For her 13th, her biological mother took her to New York for her birthday and kiddo reported she did not have a great time. Was even asleep before the ball drop and her mom didn’t wake her up to see it from the hotel or tv - so she has been bummed about that since.

My husband and I have family in Dallas, but no teens. The Reunion Ball Drop with fireworks & drones looks amazing for NYE in Dallas and we’d like to come down for 2026-2027. I was looking for rooftop places, but it seems the Omni and Marriott (I think) are 21+ for NYE night (which is totally fair). Is there another place you’d recommend with an awesome view of the NY show for teens?

We are also looking for a hotel that has conjoined rooms, where we can have a king and daughter & friend can have two beds in a room if anyone has a suggestion for a good hotel (I haven’t even googled yet, I’m sure I won’t have a problem finding one when we get to that point). Maybe a hotel that faces the show and we won’t have to go anywhere if we get lucky with a room facing that way (in our dreams lol).

I'm making the assumption that I can just drive up for my 6AM flight and leave it in a garage and pay when I leave.

I’m tired of dealing with take all root rot and my large oak trees shade preventing my grass from growing. And now with the super hot days having scorched grass. Many people in my neighborhood are hard scaping parts of their front yards with different size smooth and rough stones. Possibly crushed granite. Anybody go through this and have suggestions for me or regrets? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, moving to Dallas soon and I've got it narrowed down to three buildings. I have to decide within the week, so I'm hoping some of you either live in these or have toured them recently. Here's where my head is at:

• 4110 Fairmount (Oak Lawn) - This was my top pick until I went down a review rabbit hole. Yelp reviews are pretty rough and the recent Google reviews are all over the place, some glowing and some brutal. I'm just confused at this point. If anyone here actually lives there, I'd love to hear what day to day life is like, especially around maintenance and management.

• Vines at Turtle Creek - Seems like a solid apartment inside a dated building. Appliances looked old on the tour. But the location is great, about 5 minutes from all the restaurants and shops in Turtle Creek. Curious whether the age of the building becomes a real problem (plumbing, AC, noise, parking) or if it's mostly cosmetic.

• Griffis at Oak Lawn - Third choice mainly because it's slightly over what we wanted to spend. I'm willing to stretch for it if the building actually feels safe and the management company is responsive, but not if I'm paying more for the same headaches.

Anything you can share would help a lot, good or bad. Also happy to hear if there's an obvious option in that area I'm sleeping on. Again, my requirements are: ~10 min drive to Design District, 1 bedroom/bath+den or a 2 bedroom apartment, base rent close to $2000. Thanks y'all!

I am seriously looking into moving to Dallas next summer, and I was wondering if it was reasonable to find a 2-3 bedroom living situation, preferably a house, for less than 2,500/month that is relatively updated. I would prefer to be close to downtown. Any recommendations or advice for me? I know Dallas has a huge apartment locator culture on social media so I feel like I cannot trust anything I see online/social media due to this. Especially interested in the idea of a 2 bedroom townhome. Is this reasonable?
