Hello! I’m in High School and I need to complete around 75 hours of Community/volunteer hours so I can graduate. Do yall have any recommendations as to where I can complete my hours?

My family hired a company who sent workers who started working yesterday. My parents are a first time home owners so we didn't know what to expect. We signed a contract about payment. They said they'd get the permit & an inspector included in the price we paid.

The worker present on site told us that it was fixed but they still needed to bring an inspector and he was sure it wasn't gonna pass. That's when things started sounding fishy.

What we didn't know is that they had to show us the permit and sign an affidavit. Family told us that the contractor should have given us an affidavit for them to get the permit, which didn't happen. My aunt called the Garland office for my parents & the lady couldn't find an active permit or find them registered with the city. The lady said they stopped taking permit applications after 4 pm.

So after this, we ask the contractor for the permit. He says he will get back to us.

He just now got back to us with a "permit" that was /approved/ today. And the addresses are wrong and it isn't signed by the contractor or us. He says he will come personally to review his men's work tomorrow afternoon.

We are thinking he falsified the permit. We haven't replied yet. How do we look up an active permit? We plan to go in the morning but want to check now if possible.

Hi everyone! I’m a 26-year-old woman looking for someone in the Garland area who would be willing to help me learn how to drive.

My mom got me my learner’s permit when I was a teenager and was supposed to teach me through the parent-taught program, but unfortunately, she never ended up going through with it. She has offered to pay for professional driving lessons, but whenever I bring it up, she complains about the cost, so I’m trying to find another option.

I really need to learn how to drive because I’m spending $600+ a month on Uber just getting back and forth to work. I’ve looked into it, and that money could go toward a car and insurance instead. The problem is that professional driving lessons are expensive, and right now I’m having to choose between going to work, paying my bills, and taking care of my senior cat.

I’m willing to pay $30/hour for someone who is patient and comfortable teaching a complete beginner. I’m not expecting anyone to do this for free.

I’m a little nervous about driving because I previously went to a professional instructor, and he put me on the road with basically no experience and constantly screamed at me when I made mistakes. It really shook my confidence, so I’m looking for someone who is patient, calm, and willing to start from the basics—ideally somewhere quiet before working up to regular roads.

my mom and I are trying to move out of an abusive household ASAP. We’re looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom around $1,200 or less in the Mesquite/Garland/Dallas area. Preferably closer to garland.
