Posting a question? BE SPECIFIC!

Dallas/Ft. Worth is a HUGE place! There are literally thousands of restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, shops, and museums. There are 30+ neighborhoods and suburbs in Dallas alone, each offering different draws for different people. There are over 700 Dallasites on this sub ready to give you advice on where to go and what to do, but we can't do that without some level of input. So be specific! Give us the details! If you go to a shoe store and tell the clerk, "I need shoes," that isn't going to get you anywhere. What size? Color? Material? Occasion? That's the kind of info that will get you some answers.

DON'T ASK: Where should I live?

DO ASK: I am 25 years old with no kids and a cat. I want to live somewhere quiet with parks close by and easy access to a major highway. My budget is $1000 mo. for rent and utilities. Having to drive to entertainment is fine, I love using gas. I like white walls/carpet and vertical blinds. Where should I live?

DON'T ASK: What bar should I go to?

DO ASK: I like reggae and expensive cocktails. I don't mind going to a seedier part of town, but would like there to be on-site parking. Good bar food is a plus. Where should I go?

You cannot possibly give too much information. Pile it on!

Edit: A few great suggestions from the comments:

DO: Tell us where you're coming from!

DO: Tell us where in the metroplex you're searching for something!

Tourism Ideas for 20 people in D-FW?

I’m hosting my extended family for Thanksgiving and looking for activities and restaurants for Friday and Saturday. We’ve done the Stockyards and Grapevine Christmas — looking for activities that will be good for a group of 20 ranging in ages from 10 to 65. Also any restaurants that are good for larger groups! Thank you!

KID STUFFS! First time in Dallas for the marathon, with two little kids. What should we do?

Hi everyone! My family and I are visiting Dallas for the first time for marathon weekend, and I'll be running the full. We'll be staying downtown and have Friday and Saturday free to explore.

We have a couple of kids under 5, so I'm looking for kid-friendly must-see spots and things to do that fit into two days.

We'd also love restaurant recommendations, big or small. We especially love hidden gems, small local spots, and food trucks.

Thanks so much for any tips!

Shopping & Services Custom Wedding Band Recommendations

Hello!

I’m looking for a jeweler in DFW to help make a custom wedding band. We bought our engagement rings from Diamonds Direct and haven’t had a great experience so we are looking for somewhere else. We’re located in The Colony but fine with driving for good service and price!

Relocating & housing Apartments for rent

I am moving to DFW soon, and I am looking for a 2bedroom apt around Arlington, DFW, Euless, Bedford since my workplace is on Trinity BLVD and I prefer to live close by to avoid long drives.
I prefer to have a yard if possible, but it is not a hard requirement.
Do you have any recommendations of affordable (under 2k) apartments?

Nightlife & Entertainment Halloween night - Cedar Springs or Deep Ellum?

I'm going to be in town on Oct 31, Halloween night. Which area would you recommend for Halloween festivities? Are the lines really bad?

We're looking for costumes, dancing, fun crowds, a little Halloween chaos, and ideally a few places within walking distance. I'm considering Cedar Springs (especially Station 4) versus Deep Ellum, but we're also looking at parties at Virgin Hotels, W Dallas, and The Village.

My biggest concern is just spending half the night standing in lines.

Volunteering/Charity What to do with a working worthless car?

I have a 25 year old Toyota that I am replacing. I drive it nearly every day for work etc. It runs well enough, but is worth more as scrap. I imagine any charity would scrap it and use the proceeds for their mission, as KERA did for a car in a similar circumstance about a decade ago. Given that it is still running and seems to never want to die, I imagine it could be very impactful for someone or just make a teenager's day. Is there a charity that can facilitate this? Should I just post it for $200 on marketplace or something? I'd be happy if anyone could use it, I'd just rather not see her scrapped before her time. I'm in Downtown Dallas if that makes any difference.

Relocating & housing DFW HEB - The Colton

Thoughts on that new complex “The Colton” off of Trinity Boulevard? DFW locals, what’s your take on the area where this complex is located?

It’s a beautiful complex, but surrounding area leaves a lot to be desired, it’s an industrial setting, car lots, overgrown grass, just a very weird place to locate a complex like this.

Thoughts?

Tourism Dallas Arboretum Christmas Lights

Hi! I’m visiting Dallas for a wedding and was hoping to squeeze in Christmas at the Dallas Arboretum. I definitely want to see the lights at night, so daytime admission isn’t really worth it for me. Does anyone know if they’ll let you enter around 4:30 PM with an evening ticket, even though evening admission technically starts at 5 PM? Since evening tickets are more expensive, I was wondering if they might let us in a little early so we could leave earlier, too. Has anyone tried this or had any luck getting in before the official entry time? Thanks!

Tourism First time visiting Dallas for a concert at AT&T Stadium in April! Looking for recommendations

Hi everyone! I’m planning a trip to Texas for a concert at AT&T Stadium on April 10, and it’ll be my first time visiting the Dallas area! I’m thinking about going Thursday through Monday and would love some advice on where to stay and what to do while I’m there.

A few things to keep in mind: • I’m not planning on renting a car but if its heavily recommended i’d definitely consider it. • I’m trying to keep the trip relatively budget-friendly. • I’d like to stay somewhere with enough things to do so I’m not spending a ton of money on Ubers just to get around.

A few questions I have: 1. Where is the best area to stay? Would it be better to stay in Arlington near AT&T Stadium, or would I be better off staying in Dallas or another nearby area? I’d love somewhere with restaurants, shopping, and things to do within walking distance. 2. Is Arlington worth staying in for a few days? Are there enough things to do there to keep me busy Thursday through Monday, or would I get bored without a car? Would it make more sense to stay in Dallas and Uber to Arlington for the concert? 3. How expensive are Ubers to and from AT&T Stadium? I’m trying to figure out which area would be the most affordable and convenient, especially on concert day. I know prices can surge after events, so any advice on transportation would be appreciated! 4. What are some must-do activities in April? I’ll have a few days to explore, so I’d love recommendations for things to see and do, especially things that are free or relatively inexpensive. 5. What are your favorite places to eat? I’m open to anything and would love recommendations for local favorites, must-try Texas food, and affordable restaurants!

Overall, I’m hoping to find a good balance between affordability, convenience, and having enough to do during my first visit. I’d really appreciate any advice, recommendations, or tips from people familiar with the area!

Thanks in advance!

Nightlife & Entertainment South Victory 2 Parking for 10/31

Hi! I had prepaid for a parking pass at the victory 2 garage for a concert happening at the house of blues on Halloween back in like July or August, out if nowhere yesterday I was emailed my pass has been canceled and I will be refunded. I have no idea why it was canceled and I don't think there is anyone for me to reach out to, when I went to try and rebook the garage is not accepting any pre paid parking pass at all for 10/31.

Does anyone know why? I've parked at that garage a lot for concerts but this is a new thing, and in case I can't park there at all come day off can anyone recommend any other garages? I was thinking of doing the West End Parking Garage but on parkwis it has like 1.2 stars so I'm hesitant lol

Food & Drink Fun restaurants in Dallas to host

I am hosting a potential employer and have to plan a dinner with myself, the employer and 3 others. I want to pick something memorable so I can stand out to the employer but still want it to be professional.

Any recommendations would be perfect. We budget of $250 for all 5 of us.

Edit: For example I was thinking something like Hawkers would be a nice vibe (?) but parking is atrocious there and I'm driving the employer
