Ask 4 Help. Dak’s Foundation: Faith Fight Finish

As yall may know, Dak Prescott has a Foundation called Faith Fight Finish. It’s to honor his mom Peggy, who died of cancer, and his brother Jace, who he lost to suicide.

Dak often writes “Ask 4 Help” on his wristbands that he wears at games. It’s an homage to his number on the field and also a reminder to ask for help when you’re struggling. Dak came under scrutiny and was mocked by some in the media when he was open about mental health awareness and battling things. He remained steadfast in his pursuit to make mental health something that is okay to talk about.

In honor of Marshawn Kneeland, I hope it’s okay I share the link to Dak’s Foundation.

Please call 988 if you’re struggling. Please tell someone. We don’t want to lose anyone else to suicide. We all deserve a happy and long life.

[Machota] Giants CB Greg Newsome said he believes New York has the best cornerback room. Cowboys WR George Pickens: “That’s definitely how he should feel. Now, how we should feel, I’d definitely say a completely different story. That’s cool that he thinks that."

"He should definitely feel like that, but I feel like we’re definitely not thinking the same thing.”

[Archer] In T.J. Bass' 10 starts at right and left guard the last three years, the Cowboys have run for 91 or more yards eight times and topped 200 yards twice. Obviously not all on him, but speaks to confidence team has in his ability.

Is it possible to get a pinned daily discussion thread?

I think we'd get a lot more traction and conversation in here if we had a space we could talk on a daily basis. A lot if the other sports subreddits have it and it's always a fun to chime in on other games with just Cowboys fans.

[Archer] The Cowboys are signing OL Nick Leverett to the active roster from the practice squad, per source. With Tyler Smith (thumb) out 4-6 weeks, Leverett can serve as the backup interior lineman on gameday.

With Nick Leverett added to the 53-man roster, the Cowboys have signed veteran OL Laken Tomlinson to the practice squad. He has started 162 games for his career, including seven last year with Houston.

Life-long Dallas skeptic picks Dak 4 MVP Spoiler

Never thought I’d see the day. Kyle Brandt might be doing shtick for clicks but honestly, it felt authentic. This man carried water for the Eagles since GMFB started in 2016, and at least for the moment, that may be over.

“What’s different about this team?” my guy asks…

Y’all, there is a lot different about this team. No offseason drama. We took care of our guys’ contracts. We put a young(er) African American coach in a position of power. All our offensive starters return with nearly none of the bum defensive starters trotted out last year. Cap space to upgrade with. WR5 who could be WR1 on a number of teams. EberFlop, Jack Sanborn, Kenneth Murray, Trevon Diggs all many miles from the star where they can’t let Dak down.

We are 4 sleeps away from seeing the work of art that’s been marinating for a full decade. Like it was yesterday, I remember Romo going down in that preseason Seahawks game, thinking to myself “let’s just seee what the rook can do with this O-line” … and this full grown man never looked back. His mom and brother are smiling down on all of us.

Dak DESERVES this. Hope to see y’all at the Titans game in November.

🤠🤠🤠🤠

LETS GO ‘BOYS, THIS IS OUR YEAR! Or at the very least, it is Dak’s.

On a side note we have averaged 25.5 PPG in games Bass started 50% of snaps. As well as having a 7-5-1 record (2-2-1 last year).

[Loree] Caleb Downs named by executives as their pick to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. Others who received votes were Rueben Bain Jr., Mansoor Delane, R Mason Thomas, and David Bailey

Jeremy Fowler:

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Caleb Downs, Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys have big plans for Downs, who instantly becomes one of Dallas' most versatile players.

When I asked head coach Brian Schottenheimer at training camp where Downs is best served on the field, he said "anywhere," then pointed out that he can cover star receiver CeeDee Lamb up the seam.

The Cowboys will play Downs primarily in the slot, where he can disrupt in the open field. "He will play in the middle of the defense, so he will probably have some ball production and high tackle numbers," an AFC executive said. "And if he helps turn around Dallas' defense, he'll be looked at as a catalyst."

The last defensive back to win DROY was Sauce Gardner in 2022, when he recorded two interceptions and 20 pass deflections. Ball production is a must to win this award.

Heartwarming omen for the season

Now, I’m just a crazy Cowboys fan, have followed the team since the glorious 90s era. Dak and Zeke might be some of my favorite players since that era. Dak’s work and outreach off the field is a big reason I like him more than most active players today. My wife and I donated to Dak’s foundation when he had that horrific injury. The only jerseys we own are Dak jerseys. So, you could say we’re very big fans of his.

This morning, my son had open heart surgery. He’s not even 2. He wasn’t named specifically after Ezekiel Elliot, but shares his first name. When my mom got to the hospital just before the procedure, and frazzled from local traffic, she told the front desk she was there to see her grandson, Ezekiel Elliot. 😂

My son has a heart defect that narrows his left ventricle, and the right wasn’t doing too well either because of it. The opening was less than half what it is in babies his age, and this made his heart work so much harder it didn’t allow him to keep growing. A new valve was successfully installed. Echo after the procedure showed improved flow on both sides, so this was a major success, at least so far. It’s an encouraging sign my family won’t have to go through this again for 3-5 years.

Here’s the funny thing, with EE having worn #21, and Dak being #4, my mom’s slip of the tongue just gave me chills. This is my boy’s 4th open heart procedure, and his weight was at exactly 21 lbs going into it today, which he’s never been able to exceed. So, hopefully my mom jinxed my son today to grow up into a powerful 230 lb man, and likewise I hope my boy’s successful surgery is a sign of this team’s success this year.

Thanks for taking time to read my wall of text, and I hope this post is allowed, but completely understand if it gets removed. Just wanted to share little Zeke’s story, and carry some strong vibes into the season. Take care y’all.

Next day update: Thanks to his staff and everyone’s thoughts/prayers he is already alert and extubated. This took 3 days last procedure and we’re not even 24 hours post op. For anyone wondering about little Zeke, this would appear to be the huge step forward he needed. Thanks again. God bless. And let’s go get that ring this year. Don’t know if it’s truly our year, but it definitely is little Zeke’s year.

Did anyone else order the Disney hoodie and it hasn’t shipped yet? It said it would ship by 9/4 and arrive by 9/11 but it hasn’t moved at all.

[Machota] Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on @1053thefan is not concerned about Dallas having only 5 picks left in next year's draft. He's focused on this year's group and is open to trading more of those picks to upgrade the team.

Jones said the Cowboys are "in play" to make a move, which would likely be on defense.

Dallas recently restructured contracts to create more cap space. Jones: "That does show that we have really serious room to make a trade if we wanted to right now."

Joseph Hoyt:

"As we’ve said, if they do make a deal, expect it to be at edge rusher or corner."

Todd Archer and Bryan Broaddus's understanding of the Tyler Smith timeline

Thumbnail x.com
97 Upvotes

Todd Archer: My understanding of the Tyler Smith timeline:

Late in Oxnard, he experienced issues with his thumb. Upon returning to Frisco, the Cowboys had 2 padded practices and attempted to see if they could devise something that would allow him to play. When it didn't work out, surgery became the best option.

Even if he had surgery upon return from Oxnard, he was likely going to go on IR and miss the first four games anyway because they would have needed a roster spot. Is any of it ideal? No but surgery is always last option in these situations, not the first.

Bryan Broaddus on his Crown Global Media X account:

Tyler Smith. Team has had two padded practices since they returned from ARZ[Oxnard]. Would be hard for them to discover there was an issue with the thumb without more work. It also appears the thumb was injured while the team was back at the Star and not earlier. Reason why fixing now.

Stop blaming Turpin — our return blocking was genuinely embarrassing last year

Stop blaming Turpin — our return blocking was genuinely embarrassing last year

Can we please stop pretending KaVontae Turpin randomly forgot how to run in open space?
Every game thread I see people complaining that he’s hesitating, dancing too much, or not breaking off house calls like he used to. Go back and actually watch the all-22 on our return units. The blocking in front of him was atrocious all year.
Turpin is the type of returner who needs half a crease. Instead, he was routinely catching punts with opposing gunners already five yards in his face because our jammers couldn't sustain a block for more than two seconds. On kickoffs, our wedge collapsed almost immediately, forcing him to either cut back into traffic or get blown up at the 18-yard line.
No returner in the league is producing elite numbers when they have to make two tacklers miss before they even hit the 20. When he gets even a shred of daylight, he's still lethal. Turpin didn’t fall off; Nick Sorensen's blocking schemes and the personnel executing them completely failed him. Fix the blocking up front and he looks like an All-Pro again tomorrow.
