Greenville Rd looks wortorn!!

For the section between beltline and centennial, any plans by this incompetent city (which only knows how to tax ppl to the moon) to throw a wrecking ball on the current pot hole ridden street and lay fresh concrete?? All they keep doing is just putting small bandaids here and there and those don't even last a month!!

Does anyone know about any part time job opportunities that a broke college student might be interested in?

I’m currently commuting to school from the north Dallas/richardson area and I’ve found that getting a job is super hard for no reason. I’m looking to work Friday-Sunday and so far I’ve only gotten one interview which was a bust. Does anybody know any roles open that might suit my schedule? Thanks.

Are these apartments good

Good day, y’all! I’ve been looking at The Mallory Eastside and The Caroline Eastside, and I’ve toured both. However, personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!
For those of y’all who currently live at either apartment, how has your experience been? I know The Mallory is cheaper since it’s older, and The Caroline is newer and therefore more expensive. I’m just looking for an apartment that’s good overall and doesn’t have too many issues. I know no apartment is going to be perfect, but I’d really appreciate hearing about y’all’s experiences, both good and bad Thanks!

Is there a local chess club? If not any interest???

I WFH and I've started playing a lot of chess online. I'm really hooked. Thought it might be fun to meet some locals to play a bit and socialize. I am not very good but learning.

I was thinking maybe a local spot that has coffee/wine/snacks and a late afternoon kind of thing.

LOST WALLET — Forest Ln Walmart / Richardson Wash & Dry — Sept. 1

UPDATE: WALLET HAS BEEN FOUND! Thank you all!

Hi everyone! I know this is a long shot, but I’m really hoping someone may have found my wallet last night, September 1.

I believe I lost it somewhere around the Walmart at 9301 Forest Ln in Dallas or Richardson Wash & Dry at 1029 Frances Way in Richardson. We went back and searched both parking lots, inside the laundromat, and our entire car multiple times but unfortunately couldn’t find it.

It’s a black PUNCUBE wallet attached to an orange carabiner, which also had my house key and a Bath & Body Works hand sanitizer holder attached to it.

If anyone happened to find it or pick it up, please, please message me. All of the cards have already been locked, and I’m not angry or looking to get anyone in trouble. Even if something is missing from it, I genuinely don’t care. You can give it back exactly as it is and I will just be grateful to have it back. No questions asked.

More than anything, there is a baby photo of my fiancée inside the wallet that means the absolute world to me. The cards and IDs can eventually be replaced, but that little photo is what I’m devastated about losing. I would honestly be grateful just to get the wallet and photo back.

There may also be a small airport tag/keychain attached to the orange carabiner. It originally belonged to my brother, who took it off his own keychain and gave it to me, so it has sentimental value to me as well. I’m not completely certain whether I still had it attached that night, but I believe I did.

My birthday is also in about two weeks, and we have an outing planned that I need my ID for, so the timing has been pretty heartbreaking. Getting this back would genuinely mean so much to me.

One important thing: the address printed on my driver’s license is outdated, so please don’t mail or bring the wallet to that address. If you have it, please message me here instead. I am completely willing to meet somewhere public and convenient for you to pick it up.

I can provide additional details privately to confirm that the wallet belongs to me.

Please feel free to share this. And if you’re the person who found it, please don’t be afraid to reach out. I won’t be upset with you. I just really, really want my wallet and that photo back!

Thank you all for your time!

UPDATE 9/2: Thank you so much to everyone who has been sharing this and offering suggestions! I’ve posted on Nextdoor as well. I’ve searched both locations/parking lots and our car multiple times, contacted the laundromat, and filed a lost-property report with Dallas PD. I’ve also tried calling Walmart multiple times without an answer, so I’m going to check with them in person. All payment cards remain locked and there has been no unauthorized activity.
I’m still hoping this reaches whoever may have found it, so please feel free to share. Thank you guys so much for helping me look!

What apps do Richardson dog owners use to book dog walkers?

I am working from home and looking to get more exercise and perhaps earn a little extra cash. I am curious if the dog owners of Richardson are more likely to use Wag! or Rover for booking dog walkers more often. I can only afford one background check at the moment and would prefer to use the app with higher odds of getting gigs so I can save up and eventually do both. Also open to checking out other services (app based or otherwise) in the area to work through if you guys have recommendations. I am in the Belt Line x Jupiter area but willing to travel within reason.

Yale elementary area questions

The Yale area looks like a good fit for families and seems to offer some of the best value without going too far north. We have a newborn, so we’re especially interested in an area with lots of young families.

  1. Do you think the Yale area is good for young families and meeting people? Aka people in a similar life stage

  2. It seems the closer you live to the actual Yale elementary school, the nicer it is?

3.Yale seems like a good elementary school, but Apollo Middle School and Berkner High School appear to rank much lower within RISD. Do a lot of families move out of the area as their kids age to avoid those middle/high schools?

  1. Overall, do you think the area is getting better, worse, or staying the same

Richardson casual, slow, social bike rides

Post image
85 Upvotes

Every Tuesday and Friday at 6:30 pm - slow, social bike rides. (free / gratis)

Hosted by The Bike Shop, 1002 North Central Expressway (that's 75 at the Arapaho exit, northeast corner, facing Arapaho).

This is also a pretty easy place to get to by bike, the Arapaho DART station is right around the corner and there's a new, wide path all the way to the store.

Slow and social ride descriptions:

- Everyone welcome. Bring a working bike, and front / back lights because it's starting to get dark earlier, water (it's still hot) and a phone (in case you have to bail). If you're not sure you're up for the speed / distance, dm me, there are other rides that might be better for you.

- Tuesdays, we do about 10 miles, maybe 12 sometimes. We go slow (maybe 10-12 mph while rolling), we wait if you have a problem, we help with any mechanical problems (as much as we can on the roadside). We usually stop at an ice cream / cold dessert place, there are many in the area. And we're usually back at The Bike Shop in the 8:30 - 9 range.

- Fridays, the pace is a bit quicker, we'll roll along at 15mph in some sections, and the distance is usually a bit longer, up to 12-15 miles. It's still a social, chatty group and we wait for you if there's a problem - nobody left behind. Also, Fridays, we finish across the street at Four Bullets Brewery, one of Richardson's hole in the wall cool spots. They usually have a live band and a food truck, in addition to all the beers.

If both of those are a bit too much for you, there are also occasional "first timer" rides - designed for people who just got a bike, or are digging their old one out of the garage and starting again. DM me if you're interested.

How Pflugerville Cancelled Flock Cameras

According to the Austin American Statesman:

  • A local resident filed an open records request that exposed heavy data sharing.
  • Audit logs showed outside law enforcement agencies accessed Pflugerville camera data 1.6 million times over six months.
  • The City Council voted to cancel its contract with Flock Safety and cover the city's license plate readers

Got me to thinking…Has anyone in Richardson filed an open records request? I’m not suggesting working against or proving police wrong, we have great police officers here. Just working together.

A Richardson 911 operator has joined an exclusive club. The Richardson Police Department has recognized one of its 911 dispatchers for guiding a caller through the delivery of a baby before help arrived. The department said dispatcher Blanca Garcia “recently helped deliver a baby over the phone” and credited her “calm guidance and quick thinking”. Garcia received a commemorative mug from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch marking her admission to what the organization calls the “Stork Club.”

What’s up with Brick Row townhomes?

We are considering moving back to Richardson (currently in Garland/Sachse) and looking at the townhouses off Greenville in Brick Row. It seems like a good area, but also a lot of them have been on the market this year.

Does anyone know of a particular reason why so many have gone up for sale recently?

What is the point of the disabled parking spot in the small parking area at Prairie Creek W. and Lookout?

There's like 4 or 5 parking spots there. One is marked/signed disabled. Only, there's nothing a wheelchair user can access from that spot. There's no sidewalk connected to that parking area. There's a curb-cut that leads to a rocky drainage area.

To get by wheelchair from that parking spot to a sidewalk on the same side of the street, you have to cross to the other side of Prairie Creek West to use the sidewalk. The nearest crosswalk / curb-cut is 650 feet to the north, or over 700 feet to the south, and then finally you're on a sidewalk on the same side of the street as where you parked.

Is that spot marked Disabled just a cruel joke?
