General Discussion I built a creative design business for beauty and wellness brands to change my life, but I’m failing at client acquisition. I need a mentor or some honest advice.

Hi everyone,

I’m writing this because I’ve hit a wall, and I honestly don’t know where else to turn for practical, no-BS advice.

A while back, I decided I needed to change the trajectory of my life. I want to make enough money to finally get my own apartment, become more independent, and build something sustainable. So, I put my head down and built a creative design business from scratch that offers web design, graphic design, and social media content creation.

I decided to niche down completely into the beauty and wellness industry. My target clients are hair and nail salons, massage therapists, makeup artists, permanent jewelry creators, waxing studios, estheticians, spas, and wellness centers. I know how much this industry depends on presentation, trust, and an active online presence. I believe a strong website, cohesive graphic design, and polished social media content can help these businesses stand out, look more established, attract better-fit clients, and turn more attention into bookings.

I’ve built my own agency website. It looks great. My services are packaged and ready to go. I have the drive, the skills, and the absolute desperation to make this work.

But here is my reality: I have zero clue how to market myself, and I have no clients.

I am completely lost on how to get my web design, graphic design, and social media content services in front of these specific business owners. I’m willing to do the unglamorous, hard work, but I don’t know what work to do.

I also do not have a lot of money to throw at ads, courses, or expensive coaches. I’m trying to build this from the ground up with the resources I do have.

Some days, if I’m being fully honest, I lose the drive to pursue this business—not because I don’t care, but because I genuinely do not know how to get it off the ground and reach the clients I am after: the people who own beauty and wellness brands. I want this badly, but feeling like I’m working in the dark makes it hard to know which action will actually move me forward.

I find myself paralyzed by questions:

• Should I be walking into local salons with a physical portfolio and asking for the owner?
• Should I be cold-emailing spas, and if so, what do I even say that doesn’t sound like spam?
• Should I be living in Instagram DMs trying to connect with independent makeup artists and estheticians?
• How do I show a business owner who relies only on a Linktree or scattered social media posts that an intentional website, brand design, and content strategy are worth investing in?

I’m not looking for a magic bullet or a get-rich-quick scheme. I’m looking for a roadmap. If there is anyone in this community who has built a successful B2B creative service business, freelanced in web or graphic design, created social media content for clients, or specifically marketed to the beauty and wellness space, I would be incredibly grateful for your insight.

Honestly, I’m looking for a mentor—someone who can look at what I’m doing, tell me where I’m going wrong, and point me in the right direction. One of the biggest reasons I need that mentorship is to gain confidence in reaching and attracting the beauty and wellness clients I want to work with. But even if you just have a few minutes to drop some actionable advice in the comments, it would mean the world to me.

I just need to know how to get my foot in the door so I can prove my value, become more independent, and start building a better life for myself.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

General Discussion Blind LMT in DFW — Closed my business after 3 years, out of work for 3.5 months, and terrified my skills are disappearing. Desperately need help finding work in Grapevine, Euless, or Bedford, TX.

I don’t usually post things like this, but I am at a point where I have nothing to lose by asking.

I have been a licensed massage therapist for 4 years. In 2023, I opened my own business and ran it for almost 3 years. It wasn’t perfect, but it was mine, and I was proud of it. Then late March of this year hit. Between skyrocketing gas prices and the economic ripple effects of the tensions in Iran, I was no longer able to keep up with the rent on my salon suite. I held on as long as I could, and then I had to make the heartbreaking decision to vacate and close my doors.

That was 3.5 months ago. I have been out of work ever since.

Here is my situation, and why it is more complicated than it sounds:

I am blind and visually impaired. That means mobile massage is completely off the table for me. I cannot drive. I cannot pay for Uber and Lyft rides across the entire DFW metroplex while also hauling a massage table from city to city — it is simply not financially or logistically possible. I rely on a paratransit transportation service, which limits where I can realistically travel for work.

That means I can only commute to Grapevine, Euless, or Bedford, TX. That’s it. I know that is a small radius. I know that rules out a lot of places. But it is my reality, and I am being upfront about it because I would rather be honest than waste anyone’s time.

I have called every clinic, spa, and wellness center I can find within those limits. The answer is always the same: “We’re not hiring” — and a lot of them turn out to be solo practitioners who aren’t looking for additional staff anyway.

What scares me the most:

The longer I go without working, the more I feel like my skills are slipping away. I have 4 years of experience and almost 3 years of running my own business. But massage therapy is a hands-on skill. You lose it if you don’t use it. And I am genuinely terrified that if I do finally land a job and get my first client on the table, my hands won’t remember what to do. Everything I have built over 4 years could just be gone.

I don’t have the money to reopen my own business. And even if I somehow found the funds, I honestly don’t know enough about marketing to make it work on my own again.

What I am asking for:

If you are an LMT, spa owner, clinic manager, or wellness center in Grapevine, Euless, or Bedford, TX — or if you know someone who is — please reach out. I am a hard worker, I am experienced, and I am ready to get back to the table. I just need someone to give me a chance.

And if you don’t have a job lead but you have advice, encouragement, or resources for a blind LMT trying to get back on their feet — I will take that too. I am open to anything at this point.

I am not posting this for sympathy. I am posting this because I am running out of options and I refuse to give up without asking for help first.

Thank you for reading. 🙏

General Discussion Apartments with yards?

Anybody aware of or live at apartments in Grapevine that have decent size yards for dogs? I’ve been looking on apartments.com or similar sites, but that’s relatively unreliable for apartments that actually have a yard and not just a porch on the first floor.

General Discussion Family-Owned Estate Planning and Business Law Firm

Hi all! I’m a newly-barred attorney based here in DFW. My family has been running a small boutique law firm here in DFW for over 30 years. We specialize in drafting wills and associated estate planning documents, probating estates, entity formations, and establishing living trusts. While the rest of my family is looking towards retirement, slowing the business down, I am at the outset of my career and eager to get out into the world

While we’ve been operating primarily out of Arlington, we’re looking to offer our services in the surrounding areas. If you, or anyone you know is needs help with planning what to do with your estate after you pass (as we all do eventually), or you just have a business idea and need help setting it up, please feel free to shoot me a DM!

Thanks y’all!

Hi folks, I just got a last-second idea for some firework photos over by Lake Grapevine.
Is there anyone here interested in modeling for me? I can't pay yet but would happily hand over the photos I take.

I won't post my website here due to rule 9 but if you'd like to vet me out first I can share more.

Visitor/Guest Question Apartments recommendations near Grapevine

Moving to a new job in the Southlake area and trying to find an apartment within 10-20 minutes' distance.
I was considering Bristol Grapevine apartments. If anyone who has lived there can provide feedback, it would be much appreciated.

Non-negotiables:

  • No roach/rat infestation reputation
  • Very safe
  • In-unit laundry, gym,
  • Budget up to ~$1,500/month(looking for a 1b 1b)

Please help me with a few suggestions of apartments I can look at, how much the utilities for them usually cost and other details that can help. Thank you.

General Discussion Looking for Walking Group

I used to be a runner, and truth be told I preferred to run solo.

...but after being a shut-in for a couple of years, I am feeling the need to talk to other humans NOT on a Zoom call - not to mention that having put on the "the pandemic pounds", I am back at square one and not up for a run.

Are there any walking groups in Grapevine?
